Not a problem ML

I've had a message saying that we're now allowed to set up an actual page for this sort of thing so it now has it's own page, rather than having to share the page with the Supreme Superbeings Awards, you can find the actual page here. Although I don't know how long it'll stay there so I'll keep my userpage updated too!

Thank you very much for your email.

Unfortunately we had to withdraw Rowntree's Bursting Bugs from our range in September 2006 as they were expensive to make and sales were relatively low. It was a difficult decision for us because we are proud of all our products and do not like to disappoint our consumers.

We hope you can understand why we took this decision. Thank you once again for taking the trouble to contact us.

Kind regards

Ahh well, I'll be replacing the bursting bugs with some other Halloween themed confectionery.

Having been invovled in the Skyway race that was to be part of the Summer Games it seems to me that you'll get a better turn out if you go with newly minted level 1s. That way anyone can have a go with minimal set up, plus you'll have less powersets to police and it takes temp powers out of the picture.

Just my opinion, but I think it would make things easier all round.

there are enough monsters that can kill a lvl 1 with one shot, and killed racers would make the race rather a silly one.

[/ QUOTE ]
Errrr... that's kinda the point of a death race! Otherwise you may as well make it a race for uber-buffed lvl 50s and save yourself a bit of time.

You should try a deathrace sorudo - a mixture of skill and luck that tests your appreciation of both aggro distances and expletives!

not to get all high and mighty but.....<_<........>_>.....because of GW i'm used to evade enemy's higher then my own lvl, even as lvl 1 i might be the only carefull one around.....with the lead dieing all the time.(and using just that as start for getting to the finish)
there is one disadvantage, i have no idea where to go since the only high lvl i have is a hero.

Well this ain't GW and a death race ain't even normal CoX play.. but you'll find that evading enemies higher than yourself (i.e. virtually every enemy) is the way to go in a death race.

In fact, I'd say that it being a challenge of pathfinding and evasion is why powers like PFF and teleport are usually banned.

Which could be a good point if the route is going to grandville, it could easily leave those unfamiliar with the high CoV zones deciding not to enter as they'd be at a disadvantage.

As things stand I think it be best if this is a very low level race incorporating the collection of exploration badges, I'm still thinking no farther than Sharkhead.

Exploration Badges (and their lack of) mean everyone can be quickly checked on entry to be eligible and indentified as a valid winner at the finish-line. - I'll be Red-Side tonight from 9pm on a low level toon running variations on a course if anyone would care to join me and have any input on the course.

What time in the evening do you think is best to run this deathrace come the 31st October? - feel free to post suggestions on a time or when you personally will be available.

Hows 8pm/20:00 (UK time) for the start of the race?

Thanks for organising this, ML. We did a SG race in Heroes last year and it was so much fun (made even more so because we were all on Skype, so there were plenty of cries as people died and died again).

If you need another marshall I'll happily step forward. I'll do some spamming (cough), I mean broadcasting, in Heroes for a few nights before if you want.

My opinion on start time would be 21:00 UK time as this should maximize population levels.

I'll be spending today working out a badge-collecting route in Mercy/Port Oakes/Cap (and possibly Sharkhead) that is not susceptible to a deathport exploit.

Any of you would like to join me, I will be redside and unhidden, (contactable @Mother's Love and on Union Chat [public channel])in about an hour from now.

Ok, the route is now from Mercy to Port Oakes to Cap Au Diable and ends in Grandville. Don't panic, theres just the one badge in Grandville and you are perfectly safe there unless you are extremely careless.
A big thankyou to LeighB you joined me Saturday with a run-through of the badge-collecting route.

There is a brief race-route walkthrough here: The Rogue Isles Race.

The rules are (but will be finessed if I have missed anything): No PFF (personal forcefield) - No Stalkers (for their obvious 'hide' ability - No use of the purchasable jetpack booster pack (any usage of this is instant disqualification and the crippling shame that comes with advertising you trying to cheat amongst your fellow racers in front of the community).
Race participants are encouraged in the spirit of villainy to 'grass-up' any unauthorised usage of said purchasable jetpack with screenshot evidence.
Don't even think about trying to discredit a fellow racer by doctoring fake evidence of jetpack usage, I'm a master at spotting fake pixels. [laughs]

Inspirations of any size are allowed.
Craftable etheral shifts are not - (can you craft at lv 4? -can't remember).
The sea is off-limits in Cap Au Diable as far as avoiding the plaza goes, you are not allowed to use a sea-route as a shortcut to the university. This will be monitored by marshalls to catch any transgressers.

You can slot for health, speed or damage resistance - or a small combination of either. Tactical usage of the GvE edition jetpack will be required.

As a bit of help for those who need it (I certainly did), here’s the links to the three important maps with the badges and ferries marked on (none of the whit that ML manages, sorry). These were taken from Vidiotmaps.

If anyone is concerned about how difficult this race is, I managed to do it on Sunday (all bar the two badges very high up) with a level one character and no jump pack. Praying for a zombie invasion for Mercy and Port Oakes might be a good idea though.

Port Oakes

I want to run and win those codes so I'll be there if I can but I may just be in the delivery ward with Damsel.

Whoo-hoo! That little piccie that's on the official site looks great ML! Did you do it, or is GhostRaptor a super-duper graphics designer in his spare time?

Oh, one small issue with the article on the site - BST ends this Saturday/Sunday, so we're back to GMT for the race itself!

See, I knew there was an advantage to working for an airline - timezones are a bit of a forte of mine!

And np ML, happy to do what little I can!

Oh, and I think those people who don't check the boards should be dragged over here and winked at by GG until they capitulate, or she gets her animated hair - whichever comes first!

(Just to clarify as I have had enquiries):

The race course is a set course, in the order of the badges mentioned - the route you take (per exact street) is not set - that is up to your judgement as are the decisions to try a shortcut to the next badge on the list. (For example if you think that it is easier to scramble across the rooftops to avoid a Goldbrickers mob then thats fine), Just remember the rules with regard to that,
no flightpacks anywhere and no sea journeys in Cap Au Diable.
The route I have demonstrated in the slideshow is the most direct route on-foot.

If everyone runs these badges in order then the marshalls and any live wacky races style radio commentators will be able to do their job better - and it will also be a more enjoyable, funnier and more visually impressive spectacle overall if we are all running together.

Expect a brush with death on this race (the name 'deathrace' kinda hints at this), I ran it competitively last night, and died twice - you can run something fifty times and think you have your gameplan down and everything, but as Carmine Falcone said in Batman Begins: "Sometimes... sometimes things just go bad".
