  1. It was most definitely a "Grind him down" job, I'm still waking up in cold sweats from that particular encounter. And then when someone set off the ambushes I have a feeling that it wasn't only my bedroom that was filled with rude words!

    Anyhoo, I just wanted to thank my great team from the other night, so thanks Miss Chief et al!
  2. I've just completed my first TF, yes I've been playing for 4 years and never had a go at a TF, but I just wanted to say that it was great fun. So A huge thank you to:

    @Phosphora
    @Orion Star
    @Miss Chief
    @Super Ready
    @Tatsugami
    @Salva Mea
    @Strych-9

    You were all great!

    And, as Tatmia pointed out - I hadn't mentioned the TF - it was Lady Grey's and so I got to fight Hami and Her... erm I mean - The Honoree!

    :-D Ethan
  3. I can highly recommend the fantastic got2b hairstyling range - the freeze spray is the greatest I have ever used!

    Actually, I've just noticed - where's the teapot? I just fancy an Earl Grey.

    Dammit! I suppose I'll have to bring my own, anyone got any Lemon & Honey?

    g-a-y supergroup

    Oi! Why does Moderator_08 get to say Gay without being censored? No fair!

    I can remember this topic coming up a couple of times and (in the other threads) we found that there was a certain level of homophobia in CoX (that acronym still makes me giggle - especially on this thread) that, although it was perceived to be lower than many other games, at the time it was still hurtful when it happened.

    I can certainly see the need for an LGBT channel of communication in CoX - whether that's best served by a SG, a meeting under someone's statue or even a Global Channel (if ever those stupid channel limits are raised!), as long as it was straight-friendly. Like with any group there are situations, discussions and conversations that people outside the group may not understand, or may have a different interpretation of, or that someone might not feel comfortable discussing with someone who hasn't got first hand experience.

    We did indeed used to have a couple of LGBT SGs, the previously mentioned Friends of Dorothy and I seem to remember a group call the Rainbow Force or Rainbow Alliance, something like that.

    On the subject of the censorship of the word 'gay' - that's quite a simple argument, and now we have amalgamated forums it makes the argument stronger than it used to be. I want to make it clear that I disagree entirely with this argument and I made this clear in the thread where it was discussed, and I'm doing so again - it's a bad argument! but... In the US the term 'gay' is used as a derogatory term for something that (in particular the less erudite and more vocabularily - Made up words ftw! - challenged) people use.

    Rather than educate it's easier to just stick the word on a ban list so that it can't be misused, so that's what was done. The argument that we had last time was whether we needed a separate ban list for the EU - so it's a moot point now. However it still annoys the bejesus out of me >:|

    And as for Gay Prides - I'm speaking for myself here, living in the UK, but yes we need a day each year in which we can say, inequality still exists, I am not always safe walking around, and definitely not if I hope my partner's hand. And if I kiss him in the street!?!

    So it's vital that the Gay community be able to stand up and say yes, we want equality, we want to be able to have the same rights and protections that heterosexuals have, I want to be able to "do something wonderful, give blood", I want to be able to get married (not "register my partnership"), I want to have the right to foster and adopt, not as a single man, but as part of a loving, strong, gay partnership who have already raised 2 kids.

    Sorry, I've gone a bit political again! For those people who tuned out here's my conclusion:

    LGBT SG/Channel/Meeting - good idea
    Blocking the word gay - bad thing
    LGBT Pride - good thing

    Thanks!
    ----------------
    Edit - oooh! we get to say Gay too!
  6. I'm with Necrotron on this one,

    I'm with BE and they are fantastic, they're one of the smaller ISPs that O2 bought a couple of years ago and then left to it, their customer service is great, tech support can pitch advice to whatever level the caller needs (from My partner's 60-odd year old mum to my step-son and his ITC qualifications out the wazoo!)

    They also have a specific area on their forums for online gaming and really seem to support the MMOG community.

    Check them out at: www.bethere.co.uk
  7. Now you see, as an ex table-top and LARPer I would say that (OOC) that's what's believed by the public (it would make sense from a random in the street) but that it really doesn't actually exist.

    I used to throw a few things like that into my games, blatant lies to the players but they had to act as if they were true because they didn't have the knowledge as their character!

    Yay for evil GMs!!!

  9. w00t! 'sworking for me again now!

    Although I can't see the EULA to agree to, so does that mean I can break the rules with impunity until they get it fixed? I've always wanted a Wolverine clone!!!
  10. Not only the homepage - it also won't let me get into the game! My ONE day off this week and I can't get in... grr!
  11. Pleeease let us keep CoX!

    - I like searching for CoX on the internet.
    - I like my CoX Folder on my computer (my OH keeps looking at it over my shoulder, but has never dared ask...)
    - When you get a new computer you know you're going to put a CD/DVD full of CoX onto it when you get it home.

    Just don't take my CoX away Scarlet Shocker, please???
  12. Do you know, not only had I forgotten I was in that group - I'd almost forgotten I was on Facebook. Twitter really steals your Social Networking time, it's scary!
  13. Sorry I missed this one

    Oooh, oooh! I wanna bonus point please...

    Is it because the Rikti don't want to release any secrets and the YouTube clip to that quote actually shows the big uber grande venti massimo, huge frickin laser beam that going to appear on the up coming Moon base? (Bugger - I've just blown the plot for Issue 15! )

    Or alternatively, could it be because the line was never used (in the books at least, goodness only knows what the TV people have done to it - they are a lore unto themselves!)

  15. Ladies and Gentlemen,

    Those fantastic people at Gizmodo have collated a top-ten list of must have supervillain gadgets...

    Linky

    So, what do we think? Do we think that the Devs may be able to introduce these in the Base Editor? I want the big set of screens and a fantastic underground lair with waterfalls!

  16. Hi Calamity, I'm another person who gets bored with whiney posts, but to me a whiney post is one that states exactly the same thing in a badly constructed way ad infinitum.

    I've found recently that it also includes posts moaning about a completely irrelevant situation in other threads (e.g. Waaah! Teh devs killed PvP, why's they fixin' badges? Or Waaaah! Teh devs killed PvP why's they bringing out new features when they could be fixing it? Or the old favourite, Teh servers are dying...oh noes! They may all have valid arguments, but there are relevant threads for them...

    I don't ignore the rest of thread, but I do just skim over them.

    I think though that this news about the reformed badge is a good thing, once again it shows that the devs DO listen, maybe not as much as everyone wants, but they do, and I think this can only be good for the future of the game.

    Sorry for the rant!
  17. efan78

    Its all shiney

    Well, as I mentioned in an earlier thread, I've just got myself a new computer and I really felt that I had to agree with this thread wholeheartedly.

    My heart sank whenever I had to go and use WW/BM as I knew my old computer would just fall over. I couldn't play my MM and ran away from team invites (politely of course!)

    But now I've logged on, turn the graphics up to max and thought "Wow, this is what I've been missing!" The Widow/Fortunata cossies are soooo shiney, and it's obvious that the City Hall entrance gets a good waxing daily, The Rogue Isles look all decrepit and Paragon really looks like a great city that's just keeping its head above the tide of scrotes.

    The one thing that I can say I wasn't impressed with (and I apologise to GG) was Ghost Widow's hair - sorry! I love the Mu cloaks (front and back) I've always adored the Widows' butt cloaks, the hero villain cloaks work well, but for hair - no.

    But basically, the up and down of this post was to say - Thanks devs, I've been a fan of CoX for ever such a long time now - and that was without the prettiness, now I can honestly say I think you've got me forever!
  18. Of course, there's the other problem, Comet (the UK electrical retailer) has started charging game publishers for space. Since seeing this story I've been a bit concerned that others will follow suit. Obviously GAME et al would be a bit silly to do this, but if KESA are able to make this work it could be concerning for older games.

    I agree completely though that, if NCSoft want to keep pushing the game, then we really need a new disc. I've just bought a new computer (and I'm hoping that it'll be able to run CoX now as my old one kept falling over!) and used my CoV disc to try to cut down the download time, and yet I've still had to sit for nearly 2 hours thanks to my paltry 3meg broadband line, but I'm not going to start on the "BT fit decent phone lines" argument

    And, on topic (Might as well since I'm in the thread!) I can understand all you old far... erm I mean veterans being narked. Personally I'm happy with whatever they give me but, if there's one thing I've learned from the forums, ymmv!

    Hope 60 Months makes you all go W W!

    taboo

    Bugger,

    And there was me thinking we were getting a new weekend thread discussing the pros and cons of sweet alcoholic drinks that taste nice with coke.

    Although the last time I drank Taboo was the same night that I drank a few bottles of Two Dog and finished off with Aftershock.

    Hmmm, maybe that's why I'm a teetotaller now...

    Oh, and Ban Khorak!

    Some advice

    Hi The_Phantoms

    I can see why you felt the need to post this, but I'm afraid I do personally find it a little redundant. The reason for this is because there's this sticky up at the top of the General Discussion forum and it links to this thread in Announcements, I'm not sure that it's needed.

    If you're feeling everyone's being a bit more *grrr!* at the moment then why not have a group hug/fun type thread?

    Thanks for your time

    Ethan

    no blinds

    QR

    There's a summary in the last paragraph as it's a longer post than I thought it was going to be!

    I'm afraid mrxxx that I'm with quite a few people here. I have my search text set to say variations of "No Blinds" (I try to make it Character specific, so The Fashion Police text is "Blind Invites aren't cool" etc...)

    This isn't because I'm rude or arrogant (or at least I don't think it is, and it's certainly not the impression I want to give) but because I have a pathological hatred of the "nu txt spk tht dsnt thnk vwls r prt f nglsh." I like a fun, chatty team where I can have a laugh and a joke, chat with people and if we beat up a few bad guys (or good guys, or other bad guys) then so much the better.

    For me teaming is a social thing. Sometimes I just want to beat the bejeesus out of something and then I usually solo. If I'm looking for a team then I'm looking for a particular type. Unfortunately CoX doesn't have a setting for "Looking for socially adept, linguistically capable team with a sense of humour" tag.

    I can however promise you that, if you do send me a /tell I will respond. And if I can't join for whatever reason then I will thank you for the invite, explain why and wish you the very best of luck.

    On the subject of the star - I don't mind being the team recruiter, but I really can't stand the whole team leader thing of picking missions, choosing tactics and the like. I love to send out battalions of tells asking people to join my team, again because it's a social thing so I get to speak to even more people.

    So, to summarise, basically I'm a gobby chatterbox who doesn't know when to shut up (but I'm sure you guessed that from the length of this post!) however I can't lead a team for toffee.
  23. Sorry Ravenswing but any organisation started by Ms Liberty deserves a kick up the backside by everyone!

    Bloody lazy useless moo that she is just standing there letting people get a kicking while Rikti, Zombies and goodness knows what else arrive.

    Hmm, I think I may need to work through some of my Ms Liberty issues...
  24. Thank goodness!

    I panicked when I saw "King Ethan" - I thought I'd been coronated when my back was turned!

    I suppose I'll just have to stick with plain old me then...

    Happy Winter'een mas everyone!
  25. Happy New Year to you all, Defiant, Union, Vigilance and Zukunft. Oh, and to the rednames of all stripes.

    Here's hoping 2009 will be fantastically wonderful for everyone!
