A Stalker who can't work out how to target someone under those conditions needs to play something else.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well you get your stalker and AS me while im moving forward and im happy to make you right.

[/ QUOTE ]

I need to get ahead of you and wait for you to pass me. How hard is that?

Now, if you want to do some jumping, maybe some changing direction, then I'm going to have trouble, but I'm no spring chicken, I have lousy reflexes and I'm not that great at navigating with a keyboard.

In most PvP zones, they have these things called walls, which you will eventually hit if you just press move forward.

Not to mention it is very difficult to achieve anything meaningful, or have any fun, when all you are doing is moving forward.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you aint worked out how to turn while moving forward yet, you probably are better off giving pvp a miss.

Oh, you can dodge stalkers by moving, but it takes skill, practice, audio, and a degree of intuition. All things unavailable to newbie PvPers.

[/ QUOTE ]

True but all that means is they will learn the hard way, everyone was a pvp newbie at some point you can only learn by taking part.

[/ QUOTE ]

Or just look at it like this:

"That guy was invisible and killed me in two hits before I could react. Screw this."

[/ QUOTE ]

My point proven that player is not cut out for pvp and should stick to pve

[/ QUOTE ]

Which is exactly why the PvP Zones are not full of players.

But there is nothing that can be done about that, all that means is if they realy want to pvp they will learn how to counter a stalker and if they dont well then stick to nice safe pve

[/ QUOTE ]

Which is just it. Most players don't "really want to PvP" anymore than most people "really want to eat lutefisk." They're usually willing to give it a try, but if they don't like the tast, they're not going to preservere and work at it until they've grown accustomed to it and no longer gags.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sure, but most people, don't "really want to" PvP when they enter a zone. They want to try it and see if it is fun or not. If thier first experience is being clobbered by an invisible stalker, then the chances are, they are going to decide it's not fun, and depart, never to return.

I really should do something about this signature.

Then what would be your way to deal with the problem as you and the other Rp posting here be?

Not all like pvp thats a fact but as i have said if you like it you will learn and get better and if you dont well to bad go pve, im not sure what you and others posting here are getting at or what you want done.

Come on -- PvP has had plenty of time and attention given to it over the last couple of years. If it was going to take off, it would have done so already. It's a lame duck. It limps along, but empathically does not fly, and there's nothing to suggest it'll fly in the future.

[/ QUOTE ]

Did i miss the time spent on pvp over the last few years as from what i can see there has been no time spent on it

[/ QUOTE ]

There were several issues devoted almost entirely to it. Plus all the tweaks and changes to balance PvP and try to make the playing field even.

It's true, they haven't bothered much recently, but that's likely because they realised that they are spending a lot of time working on something for a tiny minority of their playerbase. (Bare in mind I'm from an equally small minority, roleplayers, and believe me when I say that PvP has received a lot more attention than roleplay.)

Anyway, to be exact:

Issue 4, about the only feature of which was the Arenas.
Issue 5, featured a bucket of 'balance adjustments' not all of which were PvP related, obviously.
Issue 6, CoV. However, aside from bases, the only effect this had hero-side was the introduction of the PvP Zones.
Issue 7, Recluse's Victory comes online.

It is just a small minority that give the rest a bad name.

And yet they do want other people in PvP zones - the calls of "more to Siren's Call" or whatever every evening show that.

Sure, what some PvPers probably want more than anything is more fodder lower down the food chain so they have more targets of opportunity - but the point still stands that most PvPers would like to see more players in PvP zones, not less...

... even if the attitudes of some of them are less than conducive to making that happen.

No, fella, non-PvPers don't moan in broadcast. They pick up their toys, leave the zone and don't come back. PvPers who aren't very good moan about it in broadcast.

As to what I'd like to see done:

Well, if a solution could be found to having two builds, one for PvE and one for PvP, that would help. I worked out what I needed to turn my main into a PvP Scrapper and I absolutely hate the build.

A special gag mechanism that allowed someone to be totally silenced if enough people reported them for profanity and trash talk would be nice.

Players who didn't come out with statements like "if you can't work this outt hen you should go back to your nice, safe PvE" would be good.

I'm afraid I slightly disagree with the statements above. You see, while the game mechanics need changing to reduce some insta-kills, it's mostly the PvPers that put me off PvPing.

Seriously what? Please stop with these posts cause they are out of place and wrong.I dont get involved in the rest but this is downright wrong.

Stalkers AS is avoidable.Stalkers are down low in pvp food chain.Anyone with a bit of practise can negate assasin strike.I pvp on squishies exclusively with the exception of 1 tank and yes i die but when i die is cause of me being careless and not because stalkers got the upper hand with AS.There is a bunch of techniques to even land the first strike on stalkers yourself.

Examples. Tell us what they are. You might even get a few people actually trying them so there'll be more people in the PvP Zones.

I know about three people off the top of my head who PvP regularly on WoW but never bothered to in CoH.

I can see the logic here, but generally that's not how PvP usually works in any game. Not just MMOGs mind you, but anything multiplayer that pits human against human, that's why I like playing multiplayer games locally on the console, if your mate is being a *******, you can just whack them.

No. I want the time and ability to talk to my team, to make IC taunts and curses, to roleplay, to have a fun, lighthearted conversation while I'm playing. Not before I'm playing, or after I've played -- during. In PvE there's enough time between mobs to do this, and, depending on the team and your role in it, sometimes even in the middle of the fray. In PvP? "Can't stop. Stalker might get me. Can't stop. Stalker might get me."

It's one thing to be too busy to chat because things are exploding everywhere and the game takes all your attention -- but being too busy to chat because maybe, possibly there could be a potential stalker around? Meh. Fenris take that. I find this kind of gameplay inane, irritating and stupid. It holds no appeal to me whatsoever.

I used to play Delta Force a bit, several years ago. My absolute favorite part of that game was when I could find a nice, unassuming spot with a good view to lie down and act as spotter for the rest of my team. "XY: Two ufs, east of you, moving southwards." Of course, always while I lay there I had my ears peeled for footsteps nearby, and I always had to worry about counter-snipers finding me.

That's how PvP ought to be in my book: periods of calm and deliberation and communication, interrupted by moments of pure chaos and panic.
