Issue 11 - TA's invasion

I've always considered TA to be an awesome set. I've never played one over L18, but I've teamed with loads of TA's and they simply rock. Maybe the graphics aren't as smexy as Radiation or even DMiasma, but they can really save the day with their awesome debuff skills.

Now... Issue 11 will *finally* get us the IO (de)buff sets. This will turn TA's into incredible debuff machines. I'm just saying it... TA's invasion approaches

I thought this earlier, maybe it's time to level the TA!

Mmmm, same thing was said when I9 because of the Oil Slick thingy on Hami Raids...

Anyway, I hope TA set gets fixed with the new sets

Erm, been there, got the 50. They do rock in teams it must be said, but as the debuffs aren't all flashy animations and swirly graphics sometimes they don't get noticed, but they do get noticed when you stop them

Yea, nice to know im not alone, was thinking for a long time now to roll a TA fender for pvp.

Are the TAs rea;;y as good as all that?

I only sk as I have a level 3 one sitting on server that i roilled as a concept toon. It's in the cue to be played when i finally get my main to 50. (In about 2010 at this rate)

If they are they fancy I may jump her up the queue over my D3 defender,

I had a TA/Arch defender that was real fun but because we had a SG only with TA/Arch defenders based on the "Men in tights movie", when the team died, I deleted him on the 20ish, then rolled a dark/dark defender (currently D3) and now, THAT is fun. I'd give preference to your D3 defender, Fearsome Stare will keep you giggling for hours

TA is awesome, one of the most underated sets in the game imo (mostly people who havent played one). Glue arrow is by far my fav power in the game and you can get it so early!!! ^_^
Cant wait to see how awesome the set gets with the new IOs, hmmm wonder if there'll be any unique buff/debuffs ^_^

Don't forget that TA has fewer types of debuffs that other sets. For example it has poor Accuracy debuffage and no End Mod debuffs. It also has no buffs at all.

Damage Resist and Damage Debuffs are never enhanceable in CoH anyway and TA already has Hold, Sleep, Immob and Slow debuff IOs in there. So really its probably just defense (and accuracy, for what its worth) that'll be added as debuff sets to TA.

Rad, Storm and Dark are probably gonna benefit as much or more.

Heres a list of the Debuff IOs that'll be available from an interview here

Erm, EMP arrow does a really huge -enddrain(database says 55%), 3slotted it can hit 100% of minions. Also have -regen/-recov and a 10sec -recov on yourself.

The only strenght i've ever seen in TA is oilslick (with gluearrow) and ability to hit -60% (or was it 80%?) resist debuff alone.

But versus the other sets of defender.. its really not that great (either buff or debuff wise).

Ooops. You're dead right, my mistake. Damn you monday morning. The -Regen is only 15 seconds long though which isn't too useful for AV fights really given how long it takes to recharge.

Flaming Oil Slick is really the big hitter, the rest of the set is average until you get it. The only advantage you have compared to Rad, Dark and Storm is that you tend to do better with End thanks to having no toggles.

Think its 60% -Resistance with 1 Acid and 2 Disruptions.

Think you hit the nail on the head though Carni.
Nothing much (de)buffs wise can be enhanced on the set more then now. Just a defense set for acid arrow and maybe in the slick could be usefull.
And it's no good to sacrafise hold dur and rech in favour of endmod on EMP arrow anyway, so i don't expect much from that either, though we'll have to see what IO sets they will give us

Better yet looking very much forward to the new sets to give my darkies/stormies/rads a nice treatment
The TA troller is just hoping for one superb def debuff set in acid arrow and perhaps oilslick and prolly the same in some of his earth control powers too.

I think TA will shine provided is combined with the proper primer (for trollers) or secondary for defenders. I am talking mainly for PvP here though. A Fire/TA and a Mind/TA have potential to be really fearsome toons within the zones i believe.I reserve a bit of course waiting to see what type of bonuses the new sets will give.

I don't think TA will change significantly with the new sets, the only powers that couldn't take sets in issue 9 where flash arrow and disruption arrow, and disruption arrow still won't have any after issue 11 (and flash arrow isn't worth slotting).

I really should do something about this signature.

Fire TA would be nice if Oilslick was actually somewhere close to reliable and the imps weren't petrified of the damn thing. As it stands its alright. Oilslick and bonfire stacked together can keep someone permanantly knocked back/up/down in a corner but you cant use the fire rings to damage them without losing that

That's why I'm waiting for i11 to kick in, see if oil slick is fixed... otherwise I will prolly go for grav/ta. I think ice or grav/ can be more fearsome than fire or mind for arena pvp

TA and pet AI is still bugged unfortunately. I very much doubt they will be any good until this is fixed, on my Ice/Ta I could perform a certain attack chain, and that combined with Jack Frost and Arctic Air would make my pet attack me, on several occasions.

Where are all you people who think TA rocks, where are you all when i log in and need a team? Is it me? It's me ain't it!

Well anyways this would mean that I now would have time to attack things on a fast paced team and would therefore have to slot attacks alot better seeing as they can now be used which I guess isn't hard with IOs.

I'd much rather finish mine when oil slick is fixed the as the journey would be bugged one otherwise.

Grav/Ta is really nice. Prov has one, and although he has not PvP'ed with it a whole lot, I've been on either side of it. It's a very horrible combo to fight against, and a really really good one to team with . The new sets are really going to be worth watching!

I was on as my Grav/TA last night for a bit on Defiant, using TP to turn Singy into a Nuon perma-knockdown patch (I can see why they're fixing the Bonfire & +6s issue now).

Couldn't really find a team though so switched to my MM summoned my own (plus I want to save the last few levels so I can benefit from the animation changes)

I also have a theory on why the Oil Slick pets bug exists and how to solve it...

It seems to happen because the flame patch is spawned by the death of an "enemy" (the Oil slick target). If this is the case a solution could be to spawn 2 entities when creating an oil slick, the hostile targettable orange flame we see now and a friendly invisible entity, from which the flames will come ("Oil Slick Source" lets call it), both on top of each other. When the hostile target is hit by a fire/energy attack it explodes, doing a PBAOE. This PBAOE takes a leaf out of EMP Arrows book and deals damage only if Target is flagged as being of type "Oil Slick Source" (in the same way EMPs only do damage to Electronic foes). When this dies it spawns the flaming oil slick. Hopefully, since the flaming patch is now created by a pet of the caster rather than a hostile, it wouldn't confuse the pets and make them flee. Like the way an Assult Bots flame patches don't make the bots Afraid, or an Onis Rain of Fire doesn't make Ninjas scatter.

All completely hypothetical of course as I don't have any data other than what I see ingame to go on. And I've no idea if this would make the lighting bug worse...

I found the best way not to get any invites at all was to put that I was /TA in my search comment.

Its good to see I'm not alone and that it wasn't just the pun name that put people off teaming with me

Having futher examined the options, the actual set bonuses won't make much difference. As for the procs, slotting any in Flash Arrow is a bad idea, since it will cause the mobs to aggro on you.

There is a chance of -res debuff proc that can be slotted in acid arrow, but the aoe is to small to make this really great. However the same proc can be slotted in Oil Slick, which should be a winner if it works properly.

Another winner is the proc that gives you 20% of +10 end per mob hit, which can be slotted into EMP Arrow, should help to offset the -recovery.

I have just edited in the changes to my herobuilders etc and one thing I might suggest now for TA is fitness pool.
