Hi all. Been away from this game for a long long time and just reactivated my account.
Just wondering if they have made any changes that allows you to swap INf easily between your alts? It always used to be a bit of a pain, having to get someone else to act as a third party.
Can anyone advise me? -
I was chating briefly to Mother's Love in Atlas Plaza while the French and German players were there. I mentoned that it was nice to see a crowd in Atlas for a change that did not involve a cossie comp. Everyone else seems to just lurk in the AE building these days.
Playing all those games is not good for you you know. You need to get out more into the real world of Paragon City.
Seriously, given the situation I think it was only fair to expect them to gome to our servers and its s shame that a small minority of players could not have been more accepting of them. -
I uess i kind of see shannons point. It's not all about maximising damage its Damage per amount of Endurance used. Looked at that way, I begin to see the sense.
Also, from the posts in here it looks like I shoul move away from my approach of getting lots of attacks fully slotted and instead, select a few good attack powers and make them as effective as possible through things like aim and build up.
Would that be a fair assessment? -
Ialways make it a point to tell people if I think their character looks good. With the huge number of options in the creator it takes a lot of effort yo get a look "just right" so I think they should get recognition for that. At cossie comps I usually have a look at all entrants and send a tell to the one I would choose if I were the judge.

There are a few different threads about the problems today and the lack of warning about the whole thing is a major gripe for a lot of people in all of those threads.
-
I have played a few blasters now and in all of them I fail to really see the love for aim and build up.
The buffs only last for a very short time and because of their long recharge, to get max benefit, both of them need to have three slots of recharge redux. To me, thats a lot of slots for a short term benefit.
Also, it takes a few levels to get them slotted up to that point so during those levels they are even less effective than you would like.
To me it makes more sense to get some extra attacks and slot those up.
The only sensible way I see to taking aim and build up would be toward the end of a build or in a mid to high level respec.
I suspect many people will call me an idiot for this post and frankly I hope they do! I'd love to have it made3 clear to me what I am missing in these powers. -
Yeah, Its the launch of Issue 15. They are doing final checks on the patch at their end. An announcement about the lauch has been made on US boards about 5 minutes ago. Nothing on UK boards yet tho

"Mother's Hatred - hurting Paragons Little ones since Going Rogue"
Should that not be Mother's Malice? It sounds more villanous I feel. -
Quite a few of the folks I work with are into MMOs,mostly WOW sadly but I am working on them.
I am SOOOO going to have to print of all of the Kittenz at the end of this year and put them into a desktop calander for next year to show them what a cool game and a great community they are missing.
Actually, with permission from Mother's Love as the original artist and all those folks who wind up "kitttenized" over the year, it might be cool to do it as a charity calender that players could buy. We could also see if we could get it mentioned in some PC/gamer magazines as well to reach a wider "Gaming Community" in order to boost sales. I can see the headlines in the Sun now, "Heroic Gamers help Community" -
Now that one really rocks!
I would have thought it impossible but somehow each new Kittenz just gets better!
I agree with SoulSearch, the eyes and cape on that one just make it SO dramatic! -
Hey I can ALWAYS be relied upon to be Inconsistant.
Seriously tho, if Sorm Summoning is a Controller Secondary but a Defender Primary, why does Plant control have to come across to Heroes as a Primary set JUST coz its that way on the Red side?
I have no doubt it will. Just trying to defend my gobbledegook from a monent ago. -
Umm, I just thought.
If Controller Secondaries are pretty much the same as Defender Primaries. (Not 1005 tru I know but close) just coz Plants is a PRIMARY on Villains, it might be a Secondary on the Heroe 'troller side.
That then gives you an Illusion Plant Controller and the prospect of absolute insanity in the Over Powered dept.
Not gonna happen I know but WHAT a thought! -
A controversial one to be sure!
To be honest tho, this question suits me as I tend to play 99% of the time solo on all my alts with only very rare teaming.
I have not played anywhere near all the possible combos and I tend to favour single style blasters (Same Primary & Secondary) For what its worth (who said not a lot???) I will give you an evaluation of those I have played.
Fire/Fire is a great damage combo but it is also therefore an aggro magnet of enormous proportions! I like it lots, it "feels" powerful but apart from Ring of Fire it has no real damage mitigation. You either have to play very tactically (slowly) or blast like Hades and hope the bad guys fall before you do. If debt is an issue for you that last tactic will probably not suit you!
Energy/Energy. My most recent combo this. It fels pretty safe to be honest, as with all the knockback not much gets near you, What does, does not stay there long and even mobs that fight from range spend most of their time getting back to their feet! Damage is nice as well although its not quite in Fire/Fire range. To be honest tho I almost find this TOO safe.
Elec/Elec. This one surprised me a lot. Not taken it to high levels and I went for it mainly coz of the end drain factor. Some decent holds with Electric Fence and Tesla Cage but, what really surprised me was its damage! I don't know what the actual numbers are and I MAY well be wrong, but it feels like its possibly the best damage dealer of all. Fires DOT MAY have the edge but single target wise Elec seems to be BRUTAL!
Ice /Ice A great mix of ST attacks and ST hold/immobs, making it easily as safe as Energy/Energy. What I like about it tho compared to Energy/Energy is that things still get "up close and personal". With all the debuffage tho its usually survivable
So, which is best?
For me its "Ice/Ice Baby". Decent enough damage, lots of good control and with the debufs/slows you can play from range or get a bit of blapping in, whatever suits your style or your mood.

The Fire/Ice Blaster I mentioned hit level 49 on Monday night (During a LGTF team, I wasn't online at all last night), was Fully IO'ed when he hit level 47 and will be my ninth level 50 since I started playing in Jan '06 (My first toon was deleted and rerolled in April '06, so technically I've been playing my currently available toons for a little under 2 years, and I don't powerlevel.
I've actually been thinking of cutting back on my gaming time lately to give me more RL free time...

9 Level 50s is two years without PLing. i think it's about high time you DID start paying a little bit of attention to Real Life.
Just so it does not come as a culture shock or so you don't look like a fool when talking to poeple.
Billie Piper is no longer in Dr Who.
There has been a spin off series of Dr Who.
There has been a second Fantastic Four movie (Dire)
There has ben a 3rd Spiderman Movie.(Also dire)
LOST is no in Season 4
and biggest shock of all. Dumbledore was [censored].
There ya go, you are safe to go out in public now.
(Don't worry, this is just a service we provide to the needy)

Cheers, Archy.
As the alt levels I may well take you up on that offer from time to time.
I have just found an up to daye guide on the US boards which helped a bit so at least I know I am not making a big mistake no with the alt. -
I have a level 18 Claws/SR Scrapper I could bring
OR
A level 17 Dark/Dark Defender with TP and also Recall friend.
OR
A level 17 Empath/Psi defender I have not played for around 8 months and am rusty with.
OR
A Level 38 Illusion/Storm Controller. I realise I will be auto exemped but since she has superior invis, its at least one player who should get to one of the stones without problem.
If you want/need any of the above send me an IM and I will be sure to be online for you. Never managed to complete the Cavern despite a few attempts so will be nice to manage it at least once! -
Soooo, just started a Grav Rad Controller. Checked out the Guides section for any useful info to help me and....... not a one.
Is this a bit of an awkward combo are there problems with the two that I have not considered?
I realise that a fair few of the Grav "attacks" can cause knockback which does not help with some of Rads Anchors but I would not think thats an insurmountable obstacle so, what am I missing? -
Ok, only just been pointed in the direction of this by Mother's Love and I have to say... AWESOME. In every way just.... Awesome.
Being real "Catty People" (we like cats we don't have fluffy ears and tails!)the wife and I love this idea. She does not play the game but still thinks the design is fantastic (particularly the paw print in the logo!)
Superb art work but more than that, the entire concept is just so cool and the obvious effort put into it which is apparent just from the little bit we have all seen.
I look forward to seeing more of these and particulalry to seeing folks I know from in game! (First ever thread to be added to my favourites has been identified!) -
Hey Coston,
Never actually teamed with you but chatted with you quite a few times in Atlas Park and you were a regular source of information to me when I first joined the game.
Hope that you do make it back in the not too distant future mate and in the meantime, may the Lord and the Lady light your way, wherever your road may lead.
Be Well dude! -
Apparently its about a 30 Million spend to build it, I wonder what the rent is?
-
Globey,
did not mean to ignore your post dude, it came on when I was typing mine
Off topic, that Avatar/animation... should that be restricted to after the watershed???? -
Icelock/Gamete, thank for the responses both.
Gamete: yeah, I agree that "on it's own" Flares is pretty mediocre and I can get by without it. I am wondering wondering if it's worth taking to build it into an attack chain so as to get a bonus from the new Defiance. From your post, are you suggesting that I don;t really need EITHER of them and that could free up a slot for something else?
Icelock: From your post it would seem that the answer to the question about Flares in the attack chain is YES, but...I would need to drop another power (Combustion is the hot favourite) in order to take it. Is the improvement to Flares worth making this exchange do you think?
As a further thought, another plus point for Flares is that it is another "ranged" power. Combustion means I have to get uncomfortably close to the bad guys. Fire Sword and Fire Sword Circle I can live with as, most of the time the mobs are not left around once I have used 'em but C ombustion is just a tad too slow for my taste and not powerful enough.
So, what do ya reckon? -
Hi there, a simple question.
I currently have a level 20 Fire/Fire Blaster and am thinking of respeccing him to get rid of Combustion (which just does not seem to be doing enough damage for my liking) and replacing it with Flares.
I know that traditionally Flares has never been rated but I am wondering if that has changed now that we have Defiance V2.0? I am thinking that Flares, Fire Bolt and Fire Ball will be a good triple volley to get the Defiance bonus.
So, from a purely "statistical" standpoint is Flares now worth it or should I stick with Combustion? -
Ok, I admit I am speaking from a position or relative ignorance here as neither of my defenders (one an empath) is above level 20 as I have focussed on other toons.
The though that occurs to me tho is that, if you play pretty much perma on teams then Endurance should never be a problem for a defender because of their inherant.
I still remember from my earliest days, being on a tream with an empath who was chucking out heals and buffs like mad and beinf amazed at how their end bar never even blipped! It was only then that I learned about the defender inherant power. -

There's only really a few instances where I'd be able to justify a "Scranker" build. And the main one is someone who wants to have a melee damage-dealer character but doesn't want to do smashing/lethal damage.
So, likely a Fire/EM tanker or Fire/Fire Tanker.t can only do one or the other.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, now this comment interests me. i am a total novice when it comes to tankers as I have never quite been able to get my head around the At whenever I have tried to play one.
I currently have a Fire/EM tanker at around level 8 and waay down on my play priority list. I chose those powers more for character concept than eficiency and have been a bit worried by the fact that it seems to be a very rare combo and I have fond no remotely current guides at all to the mix either here or in the USA.
Toy have highlighted it as a Skranker set and I would e interested in knowing why you say that and how you see the stes supporing that.
I realise that would be OT so would be really appreciative if you started another thread or PMed me with yor views on this.
