For the very reason that claws just look so much like Wolverine, I've always steered clear.

Characters I can think of beyond Wolvie that have claws:

Tigra (Avengers, not Thundercats )
Cheetah
X-23 (a Wolverine clone )
Sabretooth
Lady Deathstrike (she kinda counts)
Puma (I always liked this Spider-man villain, whatever happened to old Thomas Fireheart?)
Spider-man 2099
Darkhawk
Venom/Carnage/Toxin

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I managed OK on my Claws/Energy Stalker... she's a rather slight female, and whenever she pops out her claws, it's rather obvious that there's now way those huge things could've ever been inside her hands or arms... as a matter of fact, they're created 'on the spot' from recombined energy, using her energy-manipulation powers. She could, potentially, attack with energy in a more direct way (she was originally Energy meele...), but favors the claws because she likes to see blood. Since they're made from pure energy, that also explains why they're utterly unbreakable, vanish in the thin air when she doesn't need them, and can slice through any solid material.

Well here's a char with claws who doesn't look like a cat, or Wolverine (I hope). She has some nasty high tech fighting gloves, crafted by her daddy, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances shortly after...

And she would also fall into the half-naked category the OP was talking about. But that's ok, she's a Stalker, so half of the time she is invisible anyway.

And just to be on topic, my Claw/WP is a animated puppet. Inspired by that bit in Alone in the Dark 2 but with claws (and also slightly inspired by Dreamweavers fear of clowns for some odd reason).

I think they're just a placeholder toon though as I'd prefer them to be a brute rather than a scrapper (no interest in Stalkers).

This is why I chose wristblades -nods- They work better on stalkers, I think. You get enough strange/grim/depraved characters who can justify strapping what are effectively slim meathooks to their hands.
