I once teamed with an old SG friends (madame torch) alt who was a, tophat not included, completely naked ice/ice dom that apparently "thought it was too hot"...I persuaded her to change to SG colours so it looked like she at least was wearing underwear. :P

Bikini clad ninja hookers are almost always the creation of teeenage boys whop really ned to get out a lot more.
There are a few female players I know who have one very skimpy outfit, but they don't use them as their main clothes - it's more for a joke.

I think nude toons are yawn-tastic.
Toons with only the 'necessities' belongs to one of those 'Talos Island Beach events'..

and it looks like they made a recent change to jackets which creats a 'bare midriff' look on females, which I dont approve of as well.. (the side-buttoned old classic jacket now stops short of the belly button, and I cant recall it doing that before..)

Im all for the sexy clothes, but dont change the old ones for the more modest heroines and heros, thank you.

Costume Gallery.

I a man and I do mostly female toons, and most of them are pretty "hawt". I even get comments on it. Far from all of them show a lot of skin doing this. I find that nudity can be obnoxious, and generally reserve it for oddities like demons and catgirls (Naked? Me? No, this if fur!). I do, however, show some skin on most toons. On some, I have "faked" bare skin in odd places or stockings using colored tights. I am particularily fond of Cidri's third costume, a complete body stocking made from the scales pattern.

I discovered a previously unknown fetish for stiletto heels in CoH. Stiletto hells just look very good in this game, and most of my female toons use them. I'm not particularily fond of high-heels in real life.

Is this a childish dress-up with dolls? Maybe. I'm having fun and it makes the characters more interesting and engaging to me, so I'll probably continue doing it. However, in role-playing groups like the X8, I find I generally prefer to play male.

I think at the end of the day it all comes down to concept. If the character has some reason for the costume, whatever it may be, then I would applaud the bold choises rather than shun them.

the only almost nekkid character I have is a little toddler wearing nothing but a white nappy and bloody red spikes coming out of his eyes. his name? - Cupid Lord of Love. and his bio:

"Things base and vile, holding no quantity, love can transpose to form and dignity. Love looks not with the eye, but with the mind, and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.” (William Shakespeare)

You have the right to make whatever kind of charcter you wish so long as it doesn't violate the EULA.

If you have a naked toon then I'd expect a reason for being that way.

During a GvE trial on the US servers I came across a Thugs MM called "Naked and Black" who maybe was trying to make a point but just came across as a reverse racist cause she (yes the toon was a 'she') had 'White boy slaves' to do her bidding. That was just stupid.

If you can have a decent story behind it then I don't see why you can't run around naked. At the very least you could be a naturist or an alien who doesn't understand the concept of clothing. That would makes sense.

Personally I don't mind. I have a corruptor who has a very twisted backstory. If you ever read it you might think it was sick. Her main outfit is naked and furry. I recently got some clothes for her second slot.

I don't mind, I don't care as long as you aren't telling me what to do about mine I won't tell you what to do with yours. I mean it is your toon isn't it?

An interesting point, does fur count as nude?

I recently made a cat who had to be 'nude' in order to get the fur pattern all over. I'd have preferred to give her a bikini at least, but this doesn't seem to be possible.

So its all the dev's fault for forcing poor innocent catgirls to go nekked!!

Whatever happened to the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy?

As for me, though... I've made a couple of female characters, and most of them had a more-or-less revealing costume - with, however, a given reason in the backstory as to why. For example, I used to have a Fire Dominatrix who ran around in a micro-mini-skirt and a bra - the reason? Her recently-awakened mutant pyrokinetics were out of control, permantently surrounding her in a cocoon of tropical heat. Resultingly, wearing anything more was simply too hot! There was even a touch of irony included in it, since the thing that started her off on her path to crime was... stealing expensive branded design-clothing. Which she now can't wear without getting a heat-stroke.

Let's see... my stalker, Ergeist, wears a skintight black costume, but that's just for practical reasons. She's far too insane to pay any particular attention to looking sexy. And besides, I don't know how many guys would find a bald, one-eyed scarfaced girl all that attractive, regardless of bust-size...

My PB, DarkBright, has quite a bust-size, but that just comes naturally from being an overall very big girl... and she doesn't dress particularly sexily either, usually wearing some form of martial-arts ropes. However, come to think of it, she USED to have a bit of a nekkid costume - using one of the 'Emperor Ming'-style robes and no pants, since it covered most of the naughty bits anyway. Then again, PB's got inherent flight, soo... However, I changed that costume to something more modest when that robe was changed in such a way that it no longer worked with my choice of belt without horrifying clipping.

My Blaster, Heat Fulcrum, is the highest-leveled female character I've got, and has two costumes that could be concidered 'risque'... her first costume features a military jacke open at the front, with nothing under it. The reason for this being that it's her uniform-jacket from when she served in a japanese Special Forces unit, which she's hanged on to for nostalgic reasons - but when her latent mutation was triggeered during a battle with a supervillain, her altered biology caused her chest-size to grow conciderably, so it doesn't fit all that well anymore. Her fourth costume is basically naked - but blue, with wings, much longer hair than usual and glowing purple eyes. Basically, it's her 'final evolution', effectively rendering her 'transcendent' and as such above such unimportant details as clothes...

However, neither one of those two points are mentioned in her in-game bio, due to space constrictions... bah! We need more space!

Ironically, what annoys me the most is the lack of skin showing options for men. Call me a repressed man of alternative sexual preference, or whatever lunatic little psychological label you picked up on Wikipedia, but I really like the imagery and evocative background of a cookie cutter fantasy barbarian.

Male figures have jiggery squat for leg options, all you get is a pair of skintight pants. You don't feel barbaric, you feel like you're a stripper whose trousers were stolen at his last gig. Fur boots? Heavens no. Fur cloak? Nothing there.

Cat girls, and tiger boys! I've already asked on the cossie request thread t shirts and vests to be clothing types like jackets, rather than just being bundled in with "tight". I wanted a "casual look" cossie for Tiger Slash which was essentially jeans and a t-shirt, but of course, that's not possible is it!

Back OT.. my first impression of (particularly) a scantily clad female toon (and especially if its obvious certain sliders have been maxed) is simply "bloke".

"Hawt"-ness is not necessarily inversely proportional to amount of skin on display. That rule is universal; it doesn't just apply to characters in a game.

Hehe, the only really scantily clad character I ever made was a Fire Tanker I had for quite a long time.

I made her costume extremely similar to a female singer who's name has just totally dribbled out my ears, used to prance around in stage in a mini-skirt and top-hat. After all, you don't want your Tanker to struggle to get attention.

Having said that, despite the mini-skirt and fairly skimpy clothing, there were certainly no body parts visible. Just not my thing I guess.

One of very few characters I ever used to RP with people I didn't know as well, back when I was playing on Victory, a surprising number of people used to respond quite well to her - I'm always a bit dubious playing a flirt on the internet, even if you do it well and think you're being quite obvious it's the character that's talking not the person behind the keyboard, there's still often people who just don't understand that - the reception was almost always pretty good. I think I kept the character for as long as I did because I enjoyed playing her for that reason, it certainly wasn't because I enjoyed the power sets I had, I3 Fire Tankers were dreadfully dull to play.

I can't really imagine getting away with the same sort of behaviour in a lot of the pick up teams I play in on now though. I have a feeling it would really be misconstrued. I'm almost tempted to remake the character and try it to see what happens.

The ones that amuse me are the 6 foot tall women with almost no clothes and backbreaking breasts. Myself and Terra amused ourselves watching the young (sort of 7-10 year old) boys at the Memorabillia event in Birmingham making their heroes, they all looked a bit like that, I seem to recall us discussing how dissapointed they were going to be when they finally got through puberty and realised that real women just don't come in those kind of shapes.
