I would like a plushie or LEGO version of my character for 48 months please.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You'll get a Lord Recluse plushie and like it! Just be careful you don't poke your eye out with the extra arms when you cuddle it

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Oooh, I want one!!
It can keep my Cthulu plushie company...

  3. I think for me it really comes down to 'is it believable/understandable/make sense' to be in a particular costume.

Consider Ashtoreth. Half demon fire/fire tank. Now she is only half demon, and does understand clothing and its purposes, but isn't exactly shy - she knows what she looks like, and is a member of the 'if you've got it, flaunt it' school of dress...

Her costume started out as a pretty minimal bikini for financial reasons...shes a fire/fire, pretty much most of the time she spends on missions she's surrounded in flames. This doesnt go well with normal clothing. And a steel bikini is DEFINATELy a no-no (you think she likes pain?)
So whe went with dragon skin, which is fireproof. And costs an arm and a leg, hence the rather small outfit.
Once she found out about where they keep sending you on missions she added boots straight away (sewers, YUCK, you think she wants to put her bare feet in that muck!?).

But she'd never go around naked, because she considers clothes (well, the right sort of clothes ) to be way more sexy, if thats her aim at the time.

(What she wants are some good attractive female outfits. And accessories. Chocolate would be good too....)
  4. An interesting point, does fur count as nude?

I recently made a cat who had to be 'nude' in order to get the fur pattern all over. I'd have preferred to give her a bikini at least, but this doesn't seem to be possible.

So its all the dev's fault for forcing poor innocent catgirls to go nekked!!
  5. If I wanted to look sexy, I wouldn't be nude

Now when they gives us long skirts..(slit skirts...) and necklines...and perhaps some decent necklaces...and shoes...

Hm. Pyra has worn some rather revealing cossies in her time, and I'm not creative enough to do a particularly good bio....if thats enough for people to make a decision not to team with me without even getting to know me then I think that's pretty mean.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Um, I think you're misunderstanding me, P.
Its a BAD bio or name putting me off (I'm sure youve seen examples of what I mean), rather than the lack of any bio
  7. Actually, I dont care if someone wants to make a 'nude' costume per se, its some of the names (and occasionally stories) that I tend to be annoyed about more.

I have 2 characters that I suppose fall into the minimal category..
Black Maria is actually completely covered, its just that the cover is a very thin, completely black layer of negative energy. rather difficult to show as anything other than matt black all over.

Steel demon IS naked (well, apart from some chains and other fun accesories!) because, well, she IS a demoness... thats how she was brought up.

So as long as there is a sensible (or funny!) reason for why the character does what they do, it doesn't worry me. My only objection to nude characters is justification (so it makes sense to me...)

Not sure on that Astoreth, I know one woman who's taller, stronger and far more intimidating than me, and despite Armed Service training STILL has the usual treatment from men & women alike.

If anything, wearing Lycra would actually increase the 'sex object' role.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But just how intimidating can a short, plushy weasel be??

Seriously, I take your point, but I was thinking of someone known to be a super would tend to be classed as a super first and a man/woman second.

    [/ QUOTE ]

IRL, he's a bloomin' giant! Still quite plushy though .

As for "Super first, woman second", might be true...we don't really know as there are no superhumans IRL. However, in a roleplaying scenario this can still count as prejudism.

For instance, Stasis is a superhuman but she can't stand being one. This doesn't mean she wants to be a villain, quite the opposite--she'd much rather be a plain old human, with all the restrictions to boot. Even though she has the ability to cut through steel and withstand most punches aimed her way, the male superhuman's still treat her as "weaker" than they are.

A male superhuman might still try to protect her, as underneath all the powers she's very naive and innocent. Take Silver Weasel for instance, his RP relationship with Stasis is that of her protector (there is that unknown requited romance scenario, but atm, they're "just friends"), despite the fact that she can hold her own, and physically, is stronger than Weasel.

She may be super, but she'd still have difficulty obtaining a high ranking job in the armed services, say. This isn't because the armed forces are prejudiced against women, but because her personality is much too weak for her to be able to take charge of a potentially fatal situation.

Some people (whether man, woman or inbetween) will always treat others with disrespect if they aren't identical to themselves. This could be due to bad personal experiences, fear, lack of understanding or any number of other reasons. The only real way anyone is able to overcome these is to be sure of themself.

If the character is confident (this doesn't mean they have to be arrogant), another character saying, "You're ugly" or "There's no way you could do this..." isn't going to bother them in the slightest. However, if the character has some self-doubt, it may be devastating.

Although, there is one female stereotype which I've found to be (mostly) true. Female/female relationships (friendships, not romantic) tend to be "closer" than male/male. A woman is more likely to tell her friends that she loves them, and yet on the other hand, if a female friend was to insult her, she'd spend days/weeks/months not talking to her. This can involve [censored] behind the friend's back, but that does depend on the person's personality.

For men, the insult is likely to be met with either a rebuff, or a fist. Occasionally the insult can be so hurtful that the man follows the same "rules" as the woman, but for the most part this is unlikely.

And one final thought: Men are not from Mars, and women are not from Venus. We may not be identical, but we're definately not vastly different. "Ladette" society has proven this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I must admit I hadn't thought about that aspect - I was thinking aout the reaction of 'normals' to a super.
However you raise a very good point, which is that with a large population of supers there would be the sort of male/female issues we see in RL.

    Hey, guys.

Something I'm knocking about on for my new story involves a female character relating, in flashback, the changes she went through when she became Super. Not the physical changes, but rather, the psychological. Not being a female myself (at least, last time I checked) I don't have much experience in the differences between how men and women are seen in a workplace, or social setting. I listen to female co-workers all the time, complaining about how differently they're treated, but they're all whiners anyway, and I can't take what they say at face value.

My question is this: How is a female Superhero treated, in comparison with their male counterpart?

    [/ QUOTE ]

One thing you may want to consider is that she is a super.
I suspect in RL that this fact would outway the majority of peoples perceptions/prejudices of her being female in favour of those they hold about her being a super.
So the fact that she is female is, while not ignored, somewhat lessened.

Hehe playing and drinking is fun! I remember reading that someone on here had deleted a level 50 character whilst drunk and was really annoyed the next day!

Worst I've done is fallen asleep whilst playing, though I don't think anyone noticed which says a lot

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course we noticed, P, you stopped faceplanting for a while...
  14. But after all, what can you do to those cats other than Nova - after all, they banned landmines...
  15. Is Invincibility worth taking as a power now? hero builder seems to indicate that even 3-slotted with SO's, its only going to give about 10% defence against (say) 6 mobs.

The same 3 slots in tough would give me an extra 20% ish on redistance. Which would seem a better use of the slots.

    Any recommendations?

Oh and how can we forget, removing a woman's glasses and hairband makes her outrageously stunning?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I find it's the other way for me, glasses make me stunning and frame my face nicely, without them I just look... odd.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's because you keep walking into things....
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I spent siz months starting at a male backside on Novastar, so when I'd finally got him to 50, is swore to spend some time making female toons!

As it turns out, apparently I'm not bad at it either! Ellie is a complex character, being a mix of human, cat and kheldian and I can get away with explaining any non-feminine behaviour as the cat she was blended with was a tom! (Though physically, she's 100% female!)

My wife helps me out from time to time with Ellie's character, offering suggestions as to how to react, but mostly it's me!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ummm....so now you spend your time staring at a squids backside??
I think I'll go lie down for a little while now...

Since when has -any- advert accurately depicted what it's like to use any product, least of all in terms of customer reaction? It's an ad, not a detailed account of what a game session is like. And it's actually pretty accurate. Guys show up, someone's usually late, you've got snack food, you get really worked up when something good happens, then you go for food or a drink.

I really wish people could stop acting as if Europeans are superior to Americans.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'm not European, I'm British!!!
  19. [ QUOTE ]
This actually seems to be serious.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry to scare you, Weasel, but for american gamers yes, they are like that...
DO you want to burn your passport now, just in case??
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, the further something is from "reality" the easier it is to play. After all, if someone comes up to you and says "You're not playing a believable alien/demon/robot" you can say "show me an alien/demon/robot and tell me how I'm doing it wrong." You can't really be criticised for playing that -type- incorrectly, because it doesn't actually exist (not meaning to offend anyone who believes in aliens, demons, or robots, just making a point ).

However, women do very much exist, and because we have day to day examples to judge from, we can pick out flaws in how the character is being played.

The toughest thing in the world to play well is a normal, everyday person. Why do you think all the rubbish actors do action movies?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Not sure I'm convinced....
I thought all the rubbish actors were playing 'normal' people in soap operas...

personally I find my half-succubus fire tank far more believable than the cast of Neighbors....
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I play a women, because as i see it, since i play in 3rd person, behind the char, i'm basicly staring at an [censored] all the time i'm playing, so it may aswel be a nice [censored]

    [/ QUOTE ]

On the other hand, it's probably a good job they didn't implement to first-person-view properly, or quite a few of the female characters wouldn't know what their feet look like.
  22. Surely its a much greater challenge to play a character who is non-human, weird background, superpowers, etc etc well than play someone of the opposite sex properly?
After all, most mature adults ( ) have enough RL experience with the opposite sex (and probably also with homosexuals) that with not too much effort they can pass as one. To me, that isn't the real challenge at all.

What is the challenge is making a believable pseudo-personality based on the weird and wonderful differences between them and a normal human. Especially in an emvironment where you can't easily fill in the 'background' as you can when writing.

(Oh, and it isn't true that some women don't like chocolate. They are just better at hiding the fact... )

Erm... Does the AM/Hasten combo still work if full slotted? For perma AM that is. Seems pretty awsome to me. Any tips'n tricks?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They aren't perma with 3 recharges in each.
Not sure if they would be with 6 - I may try once they apply those latest enhancement numbers onto test. Would be worth the 6 slots if they were
  24. You know it strikes me that all these names are, well, rather a giveaway that we are villains...

Why not something like 'The Group of cute white fluffy bunnikins lovers'. Then while the opposition is either going (a) Awwww, how cute.... or (b) projectile vomiting, you sneak off with the loot..
