    Bye Bye!

    Hey folks

    I never thought I'd actually say this but I am taking a leave of absence. The game's just been getting a bit stale for me and after 2 years and 1 month, I figure its time to try some new things.

    With my studies and RL issues, I just don't have the time. I'm off to Lord of the Rings Online just for something to do but doubt I'll be able to devote much time to that either.

    I reckon I'll be back at some point but until then, so long and thanks for all the fish.

    You guys have been really swell and I am going to miss the endless PUGs!

    Have fun y'all!

    Sed
  2. Congratz to Tiggy for hitting 50 for the first time over the weekend.

    That's another of Team Awesome finally to make it over the hill.

    Go!!!
  3. Gratz to Suspira on yet another 50

    Another of Team Awesome makes it to the ultimate!

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  4. GZ Sheef!

    You've worked hard to get to 50 and I'm glad "Team Awesome" were able to kick you out of altitis to do it

    Best Regards

    DM/SR build

    hi

    I've got a level 37 DM/SR scrapper that has been respec'd approximately 6 times. Can anyone give me a good build 'cause I'm still not happy

    I get my 2nd Vet Reward free respec this weekend (ish), so can use that to re-do him.

    Any suggestions?
  6. Well I was intending to go with Speed Boost, Swift and Hurdle and forgoing a travel power.

    If there are some "empty slots", I might get the TP pool, purely as theme thing ('cause my toon is supposed to be magic and Group Teleport would be fun and useful for lowbie "bus transport").
  7. Hi - I recently rolled a Kin/Dark Defender and I've got no experience of Dark at all.

    Anyone make some recommendations as to what is worth taking?
  8. I wonder how useful Burn would be in PvP...
  9. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Brazen! Gratz!
  10. Hi Flush,

    My thoughts are thus:

    I know you like PvP... Fire is pretty awesome in PvE as it is great at aggro/control of bad guys. That's not so useful in PvP.

    Also, what with all the toggles (you'll NEED to take Acrobatics in addition to your inherent toggles and you'll more than likely want Toughness, as without, you're not much of a tank), you'll run out of End fairly quickly if you have an end-heavy offensive set (like EM). Consume is a good power, sure, but its only really any good when you are tackling multiple mobs and that's not normally the case in PvP.

    IMO, Inv or Ice is the way to go for PvP tankers. Inv is good against everything and I would recommend it. Ice has some great tweaks to it and is also a good set.

    As for attack...Energy is amazing and currently flavour of the month, specifically for the Stuns. It doesn't really come in to its own as a truly great set until level 35 and 38, whereupon you get TWO Extreme Damage attacks (Energy Transfer being the earlier and better power).

    I'm not particularly enarmored of Fire or Ice or even Stone, but the latter or Super Strength might be an option.

    Definitely, Inv or Ice + Energy or Super Strength seems the way to go for more PvP orientated builds.
  11. Hiya

    My Fire/Energy tanker is now on the post-40 run and I've really enjoyed playing her.

    First off, I'd like to thank all those who post their advice here. It was most useful.

    Secondly, I am now at a stage where I am think how to round off my character.

    I team a lot with the same people and ALWAYS have access to a controller.

    At 41, I took Fiery Embrace for the two build up combo (either using one after another for a +ACC ++DMG attack or just for the general prolonged increase in damage, which is more useful for Blazing Aura).

    I will take the Energy Epics after, as I think Conserve Power will aid dramatically in my energy usage (Total Focus and Energy Transfer are HOGS!).

    Here's my dilemma:

    1. I've got Fiery Embrace and Build Up, which I took to take advantage of the Fire set. Its good but I wonder if I've wasted a power slot having both?

    2. Since I team with 'trolls pretty much 100% of the time (I NEVER solo), would it be worth swapping out Whirl of Hands for Burn OR swapping a +DMG power (either Fiery Embrace or Build Up) for Burn?

    3. What would you slot Burn with?

    Three scrappers and you haven't rolled a regen yet??!?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Well I have this thing where I steer clear of what's "In" I need my individuality! Don't give me your hate crimes! :P

    Anyway, Broadsword and Regen sounds good. I might get the Mass Fear power from the Presence pool, 'cause I've been interested in that for a while.

    That could represent some magic spells.
  13. BS/REGEN does say "Magic sword" so that would be thematic.

    Gonna have a think

    Thanks!
  14. Hi there

    I've played 2 scrappers so far (DM/SR and MA/IN) and liked them both, however, I decided that I wanted to make 1 of each AT and get them to 50, all with the Magic origin.

    Thus far, I've got an MC/EM Controller and a FIRE/EN Tanker.

    I'm interested in doing something a bit different with my new scrapper and wondered what your suggestions were?

    I like the look of DM/RE, however, a lot of people are playing those right now.

    I thought about MA/DA, as I really like the MA powerset.

    A friend played BS/DA and he was faceplant-a-licious.

    So I am thinking either BS or MA and something else...suggestions?
  15. I'm leading a team for Eden Trial on Saturday at 12pm for SG, however, due to some drop outs, I think we've got 3 spare slots.

    Our current build is:

    Fire Tanker
    Ice/Forcefields Controller
    Illusion/Radiation Controller
    Empathy Defender
    A Scrapper (I forget what powersets)

    We could do with another tanker, some blasters/scrappers.

    Let me know if you are interested.

    Earth/Sonics

    Hi there

    I had an idea for a character that manipulates sound to create Earthquakes (and shatter/weaken things).

    Unwittingly, I've created a great Debuff/Buffer with the combo reducing an opponents DEF and RES and adding to allies' RES.

    The problem I am finding is that beyond throwing down Quicksand and using Pillars of Salt etc, I don't have much in the way of firepower.

    Is my combo gimped? Or am I gonna find that I'm just hanging around waiting in between debuffs or will I be of some use (I mean, before Animate Stone :P).

    Also, I decided to use slot Swift and Power Slide for my movement. Is this a bad idea?
  17. Seductress

    Fire NRG

    Ok - so what do I drop? TF? Bonesmasher?
  18. Seductress

    Fire NRG

    I've got a level 28 Fire/Energy and I must say I've had a lot of fun with this.

    I'm a bit annoyed as I respecked last night out of frustration (I was using Perma-Fly instead of getting SJ + Acrobatics like everyone else...it worked ok at first until I started hitting -FLY bad guys and just TOO much KB from villains) and slightly gimped my build.

    I currently have:

    Blazing Aura
    Healing Flames
    Temperature Protection
    Plasma Shield
    Consume

    Barrage
    Bonesmasher
    Taunt
    Whirling Hands

    Acrobatic Strike
    Super Jump
    Acrobatics

    Swift
    Health
    Stamina

    In hindsight, I now realise I can drop Temperature Protection.

    I intend to get Boxing and Tough for level 32.

    Just a couple of questions:

    1. Is it worth taking Fiery Embrace and Build Up so I can take advantage of using Whirling Hands (6 slot: 2 +ACC, 2 +DMG and 2 +RCHARG) and Blazing Aura for good AoE damage?

    2. Has anyone tried using Mass Fear from Presence pool and Burn?

    After a respec, I am looking at:

    01) --> Fire Shield
    01) --> Barrage
    02) --> Blazing Aura
    04) --> Healing Flames
    06) --> Acrobatic Strike (i like the extra attack for my attack chain)
    08) --> Swift
    10) --> Bone Smasher
    12) --> Plasma Shield
    14) --> Super Jump
    16) --> Health
    18) --> Boxing
    20) --> Stamina
    22) --> Acrobatics
    24) --> Consume
    26) --> Whirling Hands
    28) --> Taunt
    30) --> Tough
    32) --> Build Up
    35) --> Energy Transfer
    38) --> Total Focus

    No idea what to do for Epics. Will take a gander when I get to that level

    What do you think?

    even more so than claws emulates Wolverine

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Do you realise how hard it is to Create a Char that can pull off the Claws, without it being a cat?

    It's damned Hard, incase you haven't tried..
    Siv Atm, is a walking Tribal Tatoo Stand...

    Murf..

    [/ QUOTE ]

    For the very reason that claws just look so much like Wolverine, I've always steered clear.

    Characters I can think of beyond Wolvie that have claws:

    Tigra (Avengers, not Thundercats )
    Cheetah
    X-23 (a Wolverine clone )
    Sabretooth
    Lady Deathstrike (she kinda counts)
    Puma (I always liked this Spider-man villain, whatever happened to old Thomas Fireheart?)
    Spider-man 2099
    Darkhawk
    Venom/Carnage/Toxin

    That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

    Nice choice on the green and gold too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Does he work for Harrods?

    Weasel has Speedos, Civvies, Djinn Costume (Halloween) and his White/Black Stealth suit; still got one slot free; so any suggestions

    Mongrel actually has Furry Speedos; as he's copying Weasel.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I suggest you do an homage to Metal Mickey :P
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    For me, taking costume ideas off some well-known or less known comic characters is nice, not something to be punished. You can still come up with good-looking and original characters as long as the goal is not to make a carbon-copy without an original thought.

    Sometimes people surprise me though. My empath was accused of being Green lantern, which surprised me, because I hadnt thought of lantern at all when making him. Even looking more carefully he doesnt resemble lantern in other ways than having similarly shaped mask and wearing spandex overalls. Not much green either.

    I let others judge,
    here he is. (in the center)

    [/ QUOTE ]Something similar happened with my Sonic/Sonic Defender, Mhz. I'd put together this very silver age costume and thought it looked great, until I switched to SG colours (black/red) and suddenly I was like "Uh-oh, I now look like Jon Stewart".

    I've always avoided that one, simply because it keeps screaming "Witchblade!" at me - even more so than claws emulates Wolverine, that skin type seems to say Sara Pezzini and nothing else.

    As per usual though, your actual mileage may vary.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes, it's definitely one of the most generic superhero costume options - the same way the corset (Leather) top and bikini bottoms are very Hellfire Club.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I must admit, one of Seductress' early costumes was a white leather corset, white cape, white bikini bottoms and thigh high boots. But then it was a little too Emma Frost and I changed it.

    My intention with such "inspired-by" costumes is an homage, not a straight copy. EULA aside, its just downright boring to copy.

    Sometimes tho, you can put together a costume and unwittingly end up looking like a superhero/villain. One of my characters (a DM/SR Super Speedster) was the spitting image of Quicksilver and when someone pointed it out, I was like "D'oh!".

    As to the metal cozzie... I know exactly what you mean. Now I like Witchblade (even if some of the early writing is just awful) and have thought about doing an homage there, however, there's no way you can put together such a character without it looking like a rip-off, so I've steered clear.

    Miss smartly dressed and beautiful is more likely to get a job in the public sector than Miss scruffy and unattractive. Likewise, Miss beautiful is less likely to be accused of wrong doing than Miss unattractive. The same way people with glasses are seen to be intellectuals, and people with massive amounts of piercings and tattoos are seen to be deviants*.

    Perhaps the world would be a nicer place if people weren't judged on their looks alone, but a lot of the time, looks play a big part in how your life turns out - artificial or natural.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    There is truth to this (and please accept that I generalise too - as Mr Myopic Aardvark says, not everyone is the same).

    I work in a very large law firm (in the top 10 in the world, I might add) and a lot of the women around our office are very attractive. I also note that out of all the many partners at our firm (and there are a lot more than you'd think), only two are women.

    Now, knowing some of these women that come to work here as part of their training contracts etc, they are very good at what they do, however, the cynical part of me notes that there aren't any ugly trainees.

    Now, if you go to IT or Facilities, that's a different story.

    But the picture that paints is not a very nice one, is it?

    Anyway, back to the topic at hand;

    Seductress, like many of us here, has five costume slots and I think there is something for everyone there. There's her platform shoes and hotpants look, her thigh-high boots and lingerie-witch look, her uniform cozzie, her angelic winged cozzie (which I'm gonna change because its just so over-done ) and her Emma Frost-inspired costume (based on her cozzie in Astonishing X-Men).

    Out of those, there is only the lingerie-witch costume that I would say that is overtly going out of its way to be sexy. The others, I've seen far worse in nightclubs

    As to sexiness in toons: if I see a good looking toon (either attractive or just cool), I give a compliment and move on.

    One of the best costumes I've seen in a long time is with Serefia's new one, Cyber Widow. That toon looks well wikid (sic). Seriously cool
