Write a novel in a month! NaNoWriMo 2006 for CoH

whats everyones title for the book
[/ QUOTE ]
The tentative title is A for Android and it might even be the final word, but usually the title of a story is something I come up with last so it may turn out to be something else altogether when November is at an end.
Mine's called "An Infinite Amount Of Monkeys."
For now.

It's not going to be "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare", is it?
Because that'd be cool.

I can't remember the title i put but my working title in my head is "how to build a novel in a month"
For this month I shall be employing the fun land of programming and a random number generator.
fun times to be had!
I'm signed up under my normal netname of: Menome
And still trying to think of the title...
Bah, dreamweaver was taken, so my username is weaverofdreams if anyone wants to say hello.
Is it time for the dance of joy yet?
I've signed up as well. At least this gives me some incentive to actually sit down and write something longer than a few pages.
Username over there is Ailar - don't have a title yet for what I want to write. Don't have anything yet except the most basic plot outline...
[ QUOTE ]
That's a pretty nifty program actually.. I've just set up all of my chapters/scenes and it's all ready to go on Wednesday!
*gulp*
[/ QUOTE ]
well good luck to you. Differnet writers writer different ways. I onl y have the outline of the story in my mind but most truely cinematic things play through my head as I start writeing it. I myself would find it in the way if I got new ideas and had to squeese them in..but then again that's me. I'm not saying no one should choose that program. Anyone can. It's just not for me.

Mines gona be a dark, evil, good vs evil, kind of idea, and a fantasy. And of course Magic is invovled! :P Its called!
"Shards of Darkness". Kind of dramatic i know....
[/ QUOTE ]
mine is kinda romantic on some levels and a tradgity on others as well as iflling it with twisty plots. Mine shall be called. Lost memories.
Oh, by the by, my screen name at NaNo site is Khuure. Feel free to tag.
I'm all signed up for this and known as mreff over on the Nano forums. I'm headed for a nice pulpy title with plenty of evil Nazi supermen, occasional journeys to lost civilisation and not a single all action archaeologist in site. (It all makes sense in my head dammit! )
All geared up and ready for Wednesday now.
Budding protagonist(s), plot, motive, melody, ingredients, locale and which doomsday device to feature have yet to be decided...
...but I like the title - 'Devoid of enthusiasm. The life and times of an apathetic twentysometh... meh.' under the pen name 'Mrs Whatever'.
Autobiographical.
(PS- If anyone wants to add me, I'm signed up to the thingy as MissBlueMyst)
Mine is currently titled Katie G and the Aliens
It's a series of kids books I've had in my head for aaaages, based on my bossy, arrogant, stubborn and annoying 10 yr old daughter
I may change it yet though, still working out the concepts
Oh, and I'm on as Coin, if people are desperate enough for buddies
We built this city on Rock and Roll!
Seeing as I'm putting a disclaimer stating my story is absolutely not in the 'proper' CoH/V canon, do you think it counts as an EULA breach to have Marvel/DC characters make a cameo appearance?
I'm thinking as it's text, it would basically count as Fanfiction. Without the gratutitous bedroom-scenes.
(And it'd probably only be one chapter they turned up in, rather than basing the whole thing around them)
If you put a disclaimer in every-other sentence, cross your heart and promise not to publish it, and sacrifice a few chickens (with guns, yup, yup.) to Stan Lee - you should be fine.
In any way, the word validation software encrypts everything you write, so no one will be able to read it at the other end anyway - and you can always edit out the possibly-naughty bits if posting some to us.
Well this is it.
The brave men and women who have volunteered for this suicide.... erm I mean, this heroic mission must surely be prepared by now.
Fortune and glory await all. Some of us may not return, but by jove, you will have LIVED.
With less than 24 hours to go now, your brave sacrifice will be remembered by all and sundry.

Does anyone have any idea when, and by whom, ocular prosthetics were invented?

They've been around in various shapes and forms for a fair bit AFAIK..
Methinks they were around in victorian times! (Extra amusing "proof" )
Of course just over time they've actually got better at it and whatnot.
Not sure sadly who in particular invented prosthetic eyes ! Seems to be something small invented way back and refined over the ages.
Sorry I'm rambling! Also I have lessons in half an hour.. what am i doing?!
Chiefette
Not really! But thank you anyway!
I'm looking for the invention of glass eyes, rather than glasses - but I can't call them glass eyes as they aren't all made of glass. History is fun to read about, but I want to throttle it when it decides it wants to ruin my story.
Hm, I can't think of anyone further back than Sammy Davis Junior who had a glass eye. Possibly if I found out who was the first noted person to have one, I'd be able to take a guess at the invention date.

Ooh, oooooh.

I HAVE TRIED TO GET AS MUCH INFORMATION ON EARLY GLASS EYES AS POSSIBLE AND THE ONLY LINK BETWEEN GLASS EYES AND BIRMINGHAM I HAVE FOUND IS THAT A MR HERBERT OLDFIELD MANUFACTURED GLASS EYES FOR THE MEDICAL PROFESSION FROM HURST AND INGE STREET, BIRMINGHAM, BETWEEN 1860 AND 1900.

Off to look him up! Chiefers, you're a star .
Meh.
Damn my misunderstanding brain.
Glad you got what you were looking for though.

So! When will you start writing? Are you sitting by your computer watching the last seconds tick away and exactly at midnight strike the first character of your novel onto the screen?
Or will you play the game, have fun and in the morning pounce at work like a frantic cheetah?
I suspect I will be playing, maybe having another comp nearby for writing if the pace let's me.
HUUUU! 13 hours for me! 5 mins shy at that! The timeline is in shambles! ARGH!
I'll be starting tomorrow evening. After work. So about 7pm or so.

And they have beautiful, talented babies who are locked up the BBC building for all enternity, made to write endless amounts of awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping literature?

It's a nice thought. But I'm simply tuning my waveforms in with a Psychotronic Macrocompensator and attempting to channel both of them at the same time.
There is just one problem - when you take on Joss's waveforms, you tend to get really easily distraoooh! Dangly string! *pounce*
