Electric Melee and Electric Armor

It is so written.

I probably will give Electric Melee a try on a tanker.

Not terribly excited about Electric Armor, but if they do something to modify Power Surge's devastating crash when it is remade as a tanker set it might become much more attractive.

I hope they dish out Conserve Power from the set and replace it with a click heal or click regen buff, call it Re-charge or something.

As for Power Surge, Tier 9s in general (other than shields and willpower) need attention so I would not single that one out.

New PvP secondary for Tankers

I'm picturing my Elec/Elec tank w/capped defenses. Not sure which just yet (prolly S/L), but I'll cap something. Aid Self will be very optional (tho I'll likely still take it).

SD/EM might become the fotm for aoe enthusiasts.
I have an EA brute that's like wet paper out of the box (minus sets), so I'll be curious where it comes out in relation to FA/SD/DA.

Uh oh ... I foresee much confusion with EM.

I elect that we call Electric Melee, Sparkle Puffy Bunnies instead.

The abbreviation I normally see for Electric Melee is elm.

The motion is seconded, do we have a third?

Sorry, I've always been in the "Elec" camp as far as abbreviations go.

And speaking of, I am more interested in Electric Melee for Tankers than I am Electric Armor. Unless they don't screw with the Res numbers when proliferating, in which case I just might have to give it a whirl. The set relies solely on Resistance, but if said Resistance is dang high, it might be worth it.

Whatever tanks get, brutes should get.

So, one of you numbers people:

If Elec is ported to Tankers as is, what are we looking at in terms of resistance numbers?

Virtue:
Miserya - 50 EM/ELA Brute (Perma-shelved)
Adriana Rayne - 42 Katana/Dark Scrapper
Cyberpulse - 26 Super Strength/Willpower Brute
Steel Heart - 24 Invuln/Super Strength Tanker

55% about to Sm, Le, Fire, Cold, Psi
90% to Energy
About 47% to Negative.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Without the self heal, assuming nothing gets changed. So it's still a more offensive-minded defense set. Luckily, -Res isn't as common in the high-level hero side of things as it is on the villain side.

I'm going to be testing this set when I get inot closed beta because I fear it'll be a big disappointment.

A bit confident, are we?

I'm curious as to the effect that the lessened amount of -Res hero-side will have on the set's overall survivability, not to mention the increase in Res amounts due to being ported to the Tanker AT. On a Brute, you're getting holes knocked through your armor all the time thanks to Longbow and Arachnos. Aside from the few enemy groups heroes can fight that deal sonic damage (are there even any?) and toxic damage, an Electric Armor user is going to have their defenses tested much less than villains who use the set. In my humble, yet-unable-to run-actual-playtests opinion.

a fire tank w/ capped energy and end drain resists and w/ gimmicky kb protection but no self heal

that better?

I'll now have to head over to the brute section and check out more of this mysterious new powerset. Especially the Electric Melee side of things.

That isn't an incorrect statement to make ... but I think the biggest telling factor will be the lack of heal. Using a totally resist based set (even with IO help to defense) will make it very difficult to pull off Aid Self when you really need it.

Small group and solo stuff shouldn't be a worry, but I can only imagine an Elec/* Tanker trying to do an ITF speed run or STF (or Reichsmann for that matter). Frustration comes to mind.

Ice Ember: A little above Fire Tanker yes (although the little part is in the the exotic damage types).

I am hoping to get some time to test this out as well. It does look like a +Fighting pool set without a heal of any kind, so we'll see.

Yeah, I get (assuming ED capped slotting):

S 80 (w/Tough)
L 80 (w/Tough)
F 56
C 56
E 90
N 48
T 0
P 56

Toxic isn't the problem on blue side that it is on red, but still hurts. Otherwise, Elec is looking way better. You give up on the Heal (Aid Self!), but get Psi, En over Fire, better Cold, way better debuff resists, KB & Immob protections, pretty much infinite end, better recharge and a T9 I'd actually consider using. Of course, you need to take like all your powers too which makes the secondary paring tougher.

Fire gives you Burn, HF & FE that I'd miss, but not all that much to be honest (except for HF). Not even close, if you ask me. Dark otoh is a tough choice--better Psi, Neg & Toxic, worse S/L/E/F/C and a huge heal.
