It's a start. Still needs quite a bit of work though. Given your love of melee over ranged we do need to get you off a blaster and onto a scrapper or brute. Like yesterday. I'm guessing you'll be much more comfortable with those ATs.

All joking aside, I just wanted to say that it took some guts to admit your problems and work to improve on them. I'm glad to see you sticking around and learning from the people here. I hope you stay for a while.

I'm going to agree with Oldeb, try a scrapper or brute. You alot of melee attacks there and you would be better off playing something that is meant to be in melee like a scrapper or brute.

Generally speaking, it's a waste to slot more than 3 of any one kind of enhancement in a power, as the fourth doesn't add but a small percentage increase.

Your 4 slots in health, for example, won't give much more benefit than 3 slots. The only time I might consider doing that is if you want to add some of the IO set pieces that would give an enhancement to recovery of endurance or regeneration.

When you can afford to, slot IO's. From around level 35 on up, they give more bonus per each enhancement than the SOs will. And you can start looking at the set IOs over on the Wiki pages to see what set bonuses you may want, and start working on those to replace your SOs.

On Build Up and Aim, you want 3 recharges. The to-hit buffs you have there are very skip-able. Both powers offer you a big bonus so you want them to recharge very fast where as increasing the bonus is largely irrelevant since you should be extremely accurate with just the base effect.

Given you've really tried to make your Blaster as a melee combatant, I'd echo the suggestion to make a brute or scrapper.

Also, If you take Stun, you might want to slot some Disorient Duration into that.

Also, the defense bonus and endurance drain from Stealth is minimal. Those five slots could go elsewhere.

I strongly recommend taking the first two Blaster Attack powers from your primary tree. These are very useful due to the Blaster Defiance ability. Check it out at www.paragonwiki.com and see why.

The damage from Power Thrust is minimal, so putting 2 damage enhancers is a waste, in my opinion. Either move them elsewhere, or use them for knockback, recharge, end reduction... etc.

The endurance drain from temp invulnerability is low, so endurance reduction is not that useful, and the power cycles very quicly when toggled on or off, so recharge is best removed.

Also, Flurry does damage, but as a blaster you have access to many more much more efficient attacks. Drop flurry and take another attack from your primary.

My general inclination is, if using SOs, slot three damage into significant damage powers.

I'd throw another slot on Aim and Build-Up for recharge. They give a nice damage spike.

For Recall Friend, I'd suggest Range instead of End Reduc.

Also, if you want superspeed, you only need to take EITHER Flurry OR Hasten. You don't need both to get Superspeed.

EDIT: Slot some Endurrance Modification into Stamina. It's three slotted, which means with SOs you pretty much double it's effect.

Starting from scratch has another effect. As you fight with what you have, and the next power choice comes up, you have a better idea of what would be useful.

At level 22 (as I think you mentioned you were at) you can buy Single Origin Enhancements from stores in Skyway City or Steel Canyon. Find the store that suits your origin. It will give you the enhancements you need.

So what? He should still at least make a new toon and go back to the tutorial and read what's said in it. He doesn't have to play the other toon, but it would answer a lot of his questions.

They both contain the same information. Red-side, a Brute is going to be you best solo option, something along the lines of Super Strength/Invulnerable or /Willpower, others will pop in with their recommendations.

I wouldn't suggest WP to a newbie... though Invuln is a good suggestion when someone's still learning the basics... it's pretty straightforward.

I haven't been playing like I used to since MA, maybe once or twice a week now. So I log in tonight and a friend tells me I have to read this thread.
My gut feeling says this guy is pulling our leg. It's possible he just posted this to show what types of players are out there since MA arrived. However if he's not....shame on all of you for being so helpful and encouraging him or anybody who knows nothing about the game and gets to 50 without ever leaving the AE building.
The only advice he deserves is to re-roll a character, READ about the game, and PLAY the game.

[/ QUOTE ]Well, It's an improvement - You'd be hitting more often, and harder. Be warned that some might nitpick about some things like taking the entire Super Speed pool, when all you really need is Hasten and Super Speed (and they likely have a number of points in terms of optimization). But if you're happy with them, run with it.

That said, I'd agree with swapping the two +tohit enhancements in Buildup and Aim with two more recharge reductions each. Considering you have all of your attack powers slotted with two lvl50 accuracy SOs, you should be naturally be hitting 95%(max) of the time against most targets anyway.

I would suggest just leaving that Blaster alone for now. If you want to learn the game, DO NOT touch AE farms at all. Play the game regularly, team as often as you can to learn from other players, and try to find a good, helpful, and active Supergroup to join. By the time you've played up to your late-30s or early 40s, the game will be much more enjoyable for you (and everyone playing with you).

Also, never, EVER EVER EVER be afraid to ask ANYONE for help. The CoH community is one of the most polite and helpful ones out there, and they'll have no problem helping you out.

I must say it makes me ecstatic that you want to learn the game rather than get a server full of 50s in a week and move on. Now if all of the AE babies were like that..

Yes I am serious.
Some folks just don't have the time or circumstances to get to 50 in AE in two hours like so many others do. So he took two days. Either way, in those two days AE messed him up, as it does to all the new players, he learned nothing and has come to the boards with an open mind.

He's not the first new player to think the whole game takes place in a building in Atlas Park. Sadly, he wont be the last.

But at least he came here wanting and willing to learn.

You seem to believe that if a person comes to the boards, asking about what missions to do, and sewer teams, then takes two days to get to 50 in AE can only mean, unequivocally, that the player is a troll and does in fact know what he is doing.

I think that is possible. I also think its possible that a new player can come to the game and level up dozens of toons to 50 in AE and have not one clue as to what an SO is, or that there are zones outside Atlas.

It is important to the game's future to help the new players so they'll feel like sticking around and paying that monthly subscription. Making accusations base on opinion rather then facts would make a much better deterrent then a welcome mat.
