Was defintly the wrong driver. I think I have the right one now. I've read in a couple of places that you can now install new drivers over old drivers. Is this accurate?

Hi guys, need a bit of advice. I'm trying to update my video card drivers from forceware 176.23 (this is for a geforce 9800M GT).
After fighting my way through nvidia's site (the driver robot won't send me a key), I think I have managed to download the 191.07 driver. When I attempt to run setup, it says no compatible hardware found. I assume that means I either downloaded the wrong driver, or the wrong version of the right driver. I'm running vista 64.
Any pointers? -

I don't have stamina, but did take swift for the flight speed as I use hover. I use the leadership toggles, and I don't have any end problems at all, unless transference happens to miss, in which case I turn off leadership and pop a couple of blues and go on about it. I also have a build that doesn't feature speed boost, and I've gotten very few real complaints about it. The one time someone did make a fuss, I just went to another team.

Please don't impose your desired limitions to my enjoyment of the game, thanks. -
Hi, thanks for any responses. I've got a 23 wm/wp that I'm starting to have fun with. I'd like some slotting advice for leveling, particularly long fight durability against +1/+2 5man no boss no AV in solo play. I'd like to start sets ASAP.
Thanks very much.
This is what I've been looking at over the day. I wonder if the base regen rate is the way to go, or try for higher defense.

I like char better than fire shield mainly because it's absolute mitigation, it recharges fast enough to keep a pair of warhulks held while you take out a fake, and it has a very nice duration. on top of the fact that it has a very manageable end cost and fast animation. I look at fire shield as a partially situational power that will mitigate far less damage than the endurance it costs because of the prevalance of non smash lethal damage, chain mezzes, and two shot KO attacks. I have it on my fire fire fire, I run it occasionally, but I think even bonfire gives me better mitgation than fire shield.
Even if Consume totally muffs the punt as much as 1 time in 10, I'd still call it a better deal than combustion, blazing aura, or hot feet. Combustion deals it's damage over a very long DoT, with a very long root, and at an unreasonable end cost. Blazing aura only has an 8ft range, with a very high end cost. Any mobility at all basically nerfs blazing aura into a "putting your endurance in a black hole" mode. Hot Feet needs to be retoggled every time you nuke, and it won't deal enough damage to make up for the end cost you have in the cooldown time when you need to hit peak burst damage to clear the survivors, and if you do go ahead and retoggle it, you might just scatter the survivors out of a FSC or fireball radius making you burn yet more endurance to finish off that 1 guy who is definetly at this point a threat. I learned through play that if I'm in nuke cooldown, I look for 2 foes to consume on, not 1. If there are less than 2, than the CaB that you take to fire off the consume will give you enough end to either defeat the single foe or get out of dodge anyway. With 2-5 minions and an lt, a single firing of Consume will give you enough endurance to clear them out 99% of the time, and you won't have to retoggle Fire Shield because you just Charred the biggest threat.
I have a couple of recharges and a damage proc in bonfire.
You mention that you were going for superheavy AoE, and I totally dig that. Drop blazing bolt and get breath. Drop blazing aura and get consume. Drop hot feet and combustion and get aid self.
Quote:I use maximal damage for mitigation.Without it he has no Defense or Resistance worth mentioning all the way up to level50 -
Give Aim and build up priority over everything except Stamina. 28 and 30 are too late imo, and blazing aura will not even come close to making up for the power of aim/bu for that span of time, although I could see a case made for having blaze before aim.
Put off blazing bolt, or skip it.
Consume trumps blazing bolt, hot feet AND blazing aura. Get it and have it slotted to time with Inferno maturing. Nuke+blue insp+ consume+more attacks...
I wouldn't slot bonfire for anything more than recharge/endred.
Char>fire shield by far.
You might like hover with a lil flight speed love in that build. You might like it a lot.
I think you'd get more mileage out of breath vs. rain. -
I'm about to IO my earth storm controller, and I'm looking at Lightning Storm and the procs energy manipulator:chance for stun, and devastation: chance for hold.
Does the proc have a chance to fire each time lightning storm makes an attack, or will these two procs even work? -
"All the time whining. Owww, my head hurts. Owww, I feel a lot of pressure on my back. Just shut up and find my contact lens."
-
Quote:I really think that's the way to go, but on the flip side you can make one great build, play it a lot, and twink up the others with it. Also, it will be less confusing learning the process just doing one toon.
I'd rather have three good builds than one great build, if I had no favorite between the three characters and divided my playtime equally between them. -
Try AR/Rad, skip buckshot and grenade and take assault tactics instead. The rad toggles are seriously powerful, and it has 2 nice holds.
-
I'm in a mission on test at -1/8/want bosses, and the spawns are ranging from even con minions to blue minions. I've seen 3 bosses in the first quarter of the map. This many blue minions are definetly a threat.
When I'm dealing with hard hitting LT's and bosses, I usually make sure all the minions are gone on my alpha, then move in to melee the LT's or Boss. By the way, are you fire/fire?
With an 8ft range, Blazing Aura just isn't going to win any fights for you. -
Subjugate the position and abuse the locals.....

Sir/Ma'm,
In response to your recent article, I must forward these recent findings. Please note that I am personally involved in the subsequently mentioned study at a level that National Security regulations would put me and my family at great risk were my correspondance known. Altough I cannot for disclose my identity or department, you have my absolute personal assurance as to the veracity of the conclusion mentioned. I cannot forward to you the entire study, as data flow is monitored, and the study is simply to large to avoid scrutiny. My summary however is quite accurate, and deserves mentioning in your next article.
Quote:Coincidental studies by the NASA Langley Fellowship Institue and the U.S. Geological Survey's Global Change Science Program indicate that the conflux of low pressure-high pressure paradox combined with multi thermal events (including but not limited to atmospheric manipulation) generated during exceptional human/non human relocation events have introduced aSpeaking of which, let's talk about the elite for a moment. They roar through the skies
thermic variance in norms exceeding territorial mean. As result calefaction on a multi regional level not previously recorded occurs in prediction models to a degree warranting prompt pre-emptive policy redirection at the national level concerning these relocation events.
It is a matter of the utmost importance to us all, especially to our children, that these "Elite" be forbidden the use of these so-called "travel powers" and the equally dangerous "storm controls" -

Hero-side, you are making your profits at the expense of those who give their all defending the city - including you and your right to keep doing so. It's inevitable, so you are right about it being silly to complain, but it *is* immoral.
That's just hilarious. -
My take on fire manipulation is this
:Blazing Aura: Someone was too lazy or in too much of a hurry to bother with updating this from the tank carry over. With a 8ft damage range and a much larger aggro range if you actually hit something with it, it brings in more damage than it dishes out by far.
Burn: This power has some serious damage potential IF it's slotted up and IF the target you with to apply it to is rooted for it's full duration. It's situationally useful to use it wih ring of fire, then get out of line of sight, then reapply. Very situationally useful if you have an APP hold, (like if you have low endurance, and a single tough target with a lot of hit points, no inspirations, consume is down, and for some reason you don't want to regroup)
Hot feet works while flying, you just have to toggle it on while on the ground, then take off. It stacks nicely with rain of fire, and slows down incoming damage, sometimes even enough to make it worth the endurance, cause the damage ticks help finish off anything that survived your alpha.
Combustion is just weak, except on the ITF when the EB and AV aggro is locked onto something else. Slotted up it does nice damage over time for the endurance cost, and if you aren't dealing with aggro the eternal root time from the animation is ok.
I farm the Cim wall from time to time with my fire fire blaster, and I use two different builds, just for variety.
Build one uses ball breath FSC sword blaze blast and medicine.
Build two has rain, burn, feet, blazing bolt, no FSC no combustion.
Build one drops orange conning spawns much more quickly, but needs enough time to use aid self to finish the spawn quickly.
Build two actually drops damage output from the AoE opening because of the scatter from rain and feet, but lives longer even without the medicine pool. Its much more important with the second build to rely on blaze flares and blast to take down the LT's and healer, but more difficult to do if there are more than one or two dangerous opponents left.
I have used both builds on teams, and find that I very much prefer the build without feet and burn. It just does so much more burst damage. -

According to what I read, in countries that use VAT, both supply and demand shift in equal proportions to the left. But in CoH, I'm thinking this would only reduce the supply of crafted IOs, and wouldn't really change demand for components or recipes. I'm guessing prices would remain static, and high influence players would have roughly the same amount of influence, and the players who don't generally have tens of millions of inf would have a higher burden.
-
Well, I was reading an economics textbook that my wife bought at a yard sale, and I got curious about how much of an influence sink a progressive tax (like Fulmens exampled) with cash basis value added (point of sale tax on the buyer AND seller, which modifies the tax rate based on things like cost of the salvage, the cost the purchaser of the recipe paid for the recipe, the price paid for the salvage used in the recipe, etc). It was my impression based on what I read that this would basically make influence disappear, as there is no government spending the deadweight loss; and since supply and demand would not be affected, would this increase or decrease prices in the market. (I don't really care what the market prices are, I was just doing a mental exercise on stuff I think I just learned.)
