"Finishes" on costume pieces has never been logical and complete. That is the problem of the OP, and my constant gripe about costume pieces.

It would be nice if every costume piece had a shiny, matte, and rough finish. This would allow optimal mix-and-matching.

The low-res Gladiator shoulder has been around for ever (thus, the low resiness); way before the Imperious TF pieces were introduced. But, the ITF pieces were high-res and the old Gladiator shoulder didn't fit with the rest of the gladiator set. So, it was made high-res and given a rough finish, thus, making it no longer match with all the old legacy options which people have been using for the past five years.

The answer isn't to give us back a low-res gladiator shoulder. The answer is to update all pieces to hi-res and give all pieces the same set of finishes.

That would solve a metric crap ton of non-cohesive costume problems.

I have to agree with Zombsmann - don't roll back changes to higher resolution textures. Update the old low-res amorphous blobs to higher resolution, shadered textures so they match the new stuff. Shiny metal would be really cool, as none of the old metallic textures are any more shiny than the non-metallic tights.

I wish they'd at least update the Metallic skin. The lines in it are horribly plagued by jagginess, and it's not properly shiny.

Precisely. We need a higher-res version of the Metallic skin texture, because it doesn't look metallic... Or even like a texture. It's a pixellated blob.

Hmm, and I was almost worried- now I'll have to go make sure my toons with that shoulder piece get the updated look.

Ummm.....The Gladiator shoulder piece ALWAYS had clipping issues with the robotic arms, they're just slightly more noticable now, due to a slight slimming down of the size of the plate on the right shoulder.

The issue isn't the clipping with robotic arms, it's the textures no longer matching.

The clipping problem is that it now clips through itself ever since that new plate was added under the large one on the right side.

FWIW, you have to do Costume Creator screen shots "old school":

Hit PrtScrn as normal, then go into an image editor, paste and save. If you're using Paint, just hit Paste, and save as JPG. In Photoshop, create a new document (it'll provide dimensions to fit), Paste, Flatten, and save as JPG. (I'm afraid those are the only ones I'm familiar with.)

[/ QUOTE ]

Like I said, pasting doesn't work. All I get is a black image. Something's screwy.

Anyway, I liked the way the pipe fed directly into the old shoulder. The generator on his arm was part of the concept.

Updating textures I can understand. Completely changing the design under everyone's nose, on the other hand, is just wrong.

You know what is really wrong? Turkey Jerky. It's nothing like the real thing.

Back on track, sure it stinks getting costume pieces removed and replaced with updated versions, but it's not going to stop. Think of it like the auto replacing the horse and buggy. Sure, some people liked it from the start, but many thought it was a device crafted by the hands of Satan himself.

A century later, almost no one can remember seeing a horse and buggy in their lifetime... except in parades and old timey movies.

The issue is both.

Yes, as I said, there are two issues: the texture no longer matches robotic arms, and it clips through itself.

My point was that they're two separate problems; the clipping isn't exclusive to the robotic arms.

it's a QoL improvement I think, I know you don't like it, but it doesn't make it wrong.

I wouldn't have noticed, really, except I have a character with monstrous legs and reptilian claws that now make slight click-click noises when she walks like claws do on hard surfaces.

Now if only the monstrous head options were better, their necks didn't clip through all jacket collars and the spiked collar, and I was able to have skirts/shorts with monstrous legs.

It's wrong if it introduces a situation where the new piece is clipping with itself. Yes, the new hi-res texture is much nicer, but the new clipping issue for that piece kinda offsets any kind of improvement. trading one visual eyesore for another isn't really an improvement.

It's at best a "push" in my eyes. I'm picky about costumes though.
