I don't really have time right now to go through the quickchat menu and correlate it with our list of emotes to see what's missing. I also can't add any emote that's restricted by a badge, vet reward, invention, or booster pack.

But if someone would like to give me a list of emotes that everyone can use but aren't in the quickchat menu right now...I'll add them in.

They'd have to add a bit of functionality to the quickchat menu in order to accomplish that, considering that it can be edited with notepad. I actually do have every emote (barring the boombox emotes) listed on my quickchat menu, even unlockable ones.

Here's a guide on editing Quickchat. It's easy once you get the hang of it.

I think it would be pretty cool if you added a section to the menu for each restricted group, I.E, the menu could read:
Cyborg Booster
Magic Booster
Science Booster
Wedding Pack
Badge Granted --- You might have to do the badge after the emote name in this one for it to make sense, for example Stolen Police Band (Outlaw Badge)
Then then the currently existing menu groups.

Yes, people would be able to see emotes they can't access if they don't have the correct unlock, but I think that would be a good change. It would cut down a great deal on the 'How do you do that?' and 'Why can't I do that?' brand of questions, plus provide a little in-game advertisement of the things you could have if you buy the micro-purchase.

Well, I included emotes that are in the quickchat but don't have separate entries without saying something (since I think we should be able to raise our hand without saying something). I think I removed all the ones that show up alone in the quickchat. I also included ones that I'm pretty sure are just alternate versions and not necessary for the quickchat. Someone want to double check for me?

I believe this is a bug. I noticed it in the Beta and sent in a Bug Report. I thought I saw it fixed on one of the Beta patches, but it may have not taken or returned.

[/ QUOTE ]Not sure about the Stores, but it's only partly broken in the BM/WW. If you hold the mouse at the right spot (the upper section-ish), it'll show depending on the status (stored/bought/sold... can't remember which works and which doesn't).

Honestly, I don't see the point of the change at all. :P The only change it did was crunch the year, month, and day together. Unlike what your other thread said, they already were sorted chronologically. Also, old screenshots were not retroactively changed. That's how I noticed the change in the first place.

I think I like the old filename because they were easier to read.

Actually, I think I must have been on drugs. It's not the screenshots that I wanted changed, they're already sorted appropriately, with the year, then month, then day, then hour, minute, and second. That way, they sort into chronological order. The crunching of the date is kind of cool, in that the filename is kind of shorter now, and when I timestamp files, I usually name them yyyymmdd.hhmmss.[filename], with hh in 24-hour time.

It's the chat logs that I wish they would do this for. Right now, they're in the format of:
chatlog mm-dd-yyyy.txt

And I wish they were instead in the format of:
chatlog yyyymmdd.txt

Curious how they changed one but not the other!

Honestly, perl has always given me a headache. I don't mean its hard, I mean it literally gives me headaches: even LISP only abuses parentheses, perl abuses the entire keyboard.

These days I do all of my scripting in python unless I'm paid enormous sums of money to script in perl, or I've been dumped into a PHP web environment.

This I think will work in python, and it has the extra bonus of renaming the really old school targa screen captures into the same format (with name collision avoidance) for the people who've been here forever. I've commented out the actual renaming operation, so anyone attempting to use this script (which I just whipped up, but it seems to work on my system) can see what it does before actually trying it out (just delete the hashes before the two rename commands). Needless to say, I'd back up my files before using some bit of code I downloaded from the internet written by someone pretending to work while killing time before the long weekend.

Note for the python-unaware: python uses tabbing to denote the beginning and end of code blocks. If the text alignment of the code snippet below is messed with, it won't run.

Its a heck of a lot longer than the perl version, but moderately more understandable for those for whom regex is not a second language. And there is a native python for windows from the official site with a nice code editor and everything.

Perl's abuse of line breaks, spaces, and tabs are it's complete and total abstinance from using them. Python abuses them the exact opposite way.



I love that while on a video game forum I can bash various scripting languages, and no one thinks I'm weird for it. Or if they do, they know better than to actually open their mouth. Unless they're doing it in jest. But even then, it's not a smart idea. I mean, just look what happened to Rollo!
