Speaking as someone who has been moderated a lot over three years, lemme tell you that Lighthouse was no better about telling you what you did wrong, unless you were exactly the first cause.

Mod 08's pretty good about it, but don't hold your breath. Or do, and then whine about 'censorship' more.

[/ QUOTE ]

And you wonder why you get moderated a lot.

See there's a difference between what you just did (inflammatory remarks with the express purpose of inciting the poster to respond with equally inflammatory remarks) and what the missing threads were doing (heated discussion between posters over controversial topics).

Your post is against forum rules whereas the deleted ones were not.

depends on what got modded...the way these forums work, there's a cascading effect, kinda like w/ defense and romans in game

I think maybe Clouded is the reason. I seem to recall either directly responding to his or being in the middle of his posts.

Considering your foul language and semi-insulting statements in the last 2 posts, I'd surmise this section of the thread is destined to be cut as well taking the attached posts with it.

I remember being told if the Mods delete one post, all the replies to that post are then deleted. I believe it was said to be a limitation of the software/website.

So there's a logical explanation but I doubt any of the tin foil hat uber high-end dom players will accept it and would rather hold on to this conspiracy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Past posts that I've made that have disappeared for no apparent reason have seemingly done so when I've quoted the post that causes the action, but I don't recall any posts where I've just replied to an actionable post. I've certainly replied to my share of those too.

It could have happened, but I generally watch my recently replies for a week or two to see if the convo goes anywhere.

If it is a limitation of the forum software then I know one work around is for the mod to just delete the content of a posting rather than the posting itself. (ie. post deleted by mod08), which I know he has done a fair amount, not sure why it would stop if it has.

Not sure why you automatically assume a post deletion conspiracy.

I am?

I'm assuming that if it is a known limitation of the software then the mods have typically circumvented it by deleting the contents of actionable posts rather than wiping their existence completely.

If it is an unknown limitation of the forum software then they now know and should go back to the practice of deleting the contents of a post so as to not inadvertently destroy valid postings.

I'm more inclined to believe that it is faster to hit "delete post" than it is for a mod to open it up and hand edit it, or better yet hand edit out specific content of the post like mod08 used to do.

If an explanation falls under the path of least resistance it will almost always be the reason.

I was actually just kidding around with my comment about rewriting history...it seemed like an appropriate comment in light of the discussion.

Both are used, when appropriate. Given that only those with moderator or admin permissions are able to see what has been removed, it is rather non productive to speculate on this matter as you cannot view the material which caused the issue. Anyone know when Mids' Hero Builder gonna have a new version that shows Dom's buffs? I just checked the website and the last update is on June 15 which is before I15.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

From what I've read Mid's is no longer updating the program, but another player has decided to try and update the program. But that's all I know.

If you want to talk about failure to understand things I recall a thread where you had no idea how to create a good short arc and figured you could just do w/e you did in a long arc.

[/ QUOTE ]

Memory like a steel sieve. The question was specifically whether writing a short arc used a completely different set of skills than writing a long arc. My position then and now is that while short arcs and long arcs prioritize different things sometimes, there exists no skill that you can use in a short arc that you cannot use to similar effect in a long arc, which means the total skill set you can bring to bear on a long arc is a superset of the one you can use to author a short arc. Which is just another way of saying short arcs don't use any unique skills.

That's not a debatable opinion. Its logically impossible to be false, since its always possible to write a long arc that is an anthological sum of multiple short arcs. I can always take the product of any short arc writer and include it in a longer arc. This should be another one of those trivially simple concepts to understand, given that all it requires is a fundamental understanding of what a "superset" is.

This is why your particular judgements aren't especially troubling to me. The effort it would take to be sufficiently wrong to be in agreement with you is never going to be worth the cost of being that wrong. Its just an unavoidable writeoff.

sure, that's what it was about.

I said it took different skills to write a GOOD short arc compared to a GOOD long arc. You said you technically could apply the same things to both kinds. No one disagreed with you, even when you keep repeating it over and over again I never disagreed with you. I just said your had no idea what I was talking about, still don't (obviously) and thinking that way would make your arcs suck. And they probably do.

Correction: I just played through 9172. I stand by what I said.

End of that discussion.

Oh and you didn't have to tell me three times about elusivity being affected by DR, you told me once and then I started asking why you didn't follow through and make sure it was implemented how you wanted it. Big difference. I mean you brag about how close you are with the devs all the time I figured you'd ensure something you came up with for an area of the game you have no idea about would be done right.. Or not, considering it was easier to basically remove it the following issue.

I've noticed you lash out more and more lately. Is it because you have become an antiquated relic around here? You used to have a special niche before anyone could just pull up city of data and/or in-game numbers and calculate anything. Now that you've been relegated to a dev interpreter more and more of your posts have nothing to do with helping people, but rather, verbally berating them.

I feel bad for you because I believe it was really important to you.
