I believe so, yes. Which means it's still out of date because it lists Ex Libris and Lighthouse. Oh, well, no one's perfect.

O.o There as to... Over there. It's Their face. Newb!
And... why not help the newbs? A N00b I don't usually help. I stay away from them because they are jerks. A real newb I will take the time to help. Because over the 1st few years I was a newb and needed the help to become a better player. Now, I'm just a newb at PvP and still don't like it.

I am aware of that. Did you see my post after he clarified what he meant?

Holy crap. It's...it's...it's current.

It gets even better...
There's a updated Villains Manual as well for those on the flip side. I linked to the actual PDF.
Thank you for the time...
We always had this problem with people who PL'd through Peregrine or gained a lot of levels during certain events. AE really multiplied it by several factors though. Special events only occurred a few times through the year. To get PL'd in Peregrine, you'd have to know that you can get PL'd in PI, and find a way there (something not easy for a level 2 to do).
AE, though, is right there in Atlas Park, and it's the busiest one heroside. Invites for teams come pouring out, and the ones forming teams don't know if the player they're inviting is a new player or an older player who has rolled a new toon. If you look at it from a new player's perspective, it's hard to avoid getting PL'd. You log in, are running around Atlas trying to learn a few things, and you get an invitation to join a team. Next thing you know, you find yourself in an AE mission and you're in your 20's or higher. Now, instead of having to pick out powers one at a time, and getting used to them, you've got to pick out a dozen of them, slot them, learn about enhancements (which is something that's not intuitive), figure out which zones are appropriate for you, figure out how to get to them, etc. We can take all this for granted, but for someone who's seeing this for the first time? No way they can jump into the game and hold up their end of the stick when teamed. And if, by chance, they liked AE and managed to get to 50 and roll a Kheld, they're only going to get worse. Khelds, even for experienced players, can be a challenge just from having to figure out how to slot them.
A new player doesn't even know enough about the game to know that they shouldn't be getting PL'd. If I came into this game now, instead of five years ago, there's a chance I'd be one of those bAEbies.

So...you'd rather be stuck up than give some easy directions? I'm sure you're doing something important in Pocket D after all...

I'd rather people put forth the minimal amount of effort required to learn such a basic aspect of the interface themselves.

Is it so hard for them to look and see the word "map" on their interface and figure out to open it themselves? I have no problem with helping people, either. I have a problem with encouraging laziness.
[/ QUOTE ]
I admit I had trouble finding my way out of Pocket D the first time I went there (via the VIP pass). The map was not especially helpful. Sure, the locations of the zone exits are shown--but you need to take an elevator to get to the section where the exits are, which is something the map doesn't tell you. Although the elevator doors themselves aren't hard to find, they are much bigger than the other elevator doors encountered in the game and can be mistaken for simply a metallic wall section by a newcomer.
Of course, now when I go to Pocket D, I'm amazed that I ever got lost there. I swear the place seems x4 smaller than it did on my first visit. It's a reminder to me how something that seems simple and intuitive once it becomes familiar can actually be bewildering to a fresh observer.
Thats like, I have a 50, but I left for a long time (my gf played wow when I left, so I decided to play with her). Then after about a year or so she decided to quit, and all the color of that game lost its appeal, so I decided to come back. After all that time, there is alot that I had forgoten. So, thanks to Ouro, I use my 50 to do old arcs to get the feel of the game again, and of course made (many) alts so I could learn from the ground up. It's alot to learn and re-adjust too again, but it need be done so as to enjoy the full of the game again.
in final: If I can do it, anyone can dang it!

Strange, they call mezzes "binds" in the manual. That could get confusing for newbies.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're aware that "mezzes" was never an official term in CoH, right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, I'm aware of it, I just had no idea what the "official" term was. And considering every person I've ever talked to calls 'em mezzes, I think they should change the manual. Especially when "binds" means something else already. I suppose they expected us to say "binds" and "keybinds."

helping someone out w/ one minor thing is not encouraging laziness.
a example of encouraging laziness however could be one of those people who pay players to teleport them across the zone to say...Icon, cause they don't want to run there.

DJ, there is no excuse for not clicking the word Map that is right on the main screen, not even under a sub menu. It's right in your face the entire time you're playing.
like I said, I give them the benefit of the doubt, not everyone has the same attention to details.
DETAILS? Does it need to be big and red before people see it? Seriously.

It's a pretty big detail to overlook. There's "giving the benefit of the doubt", then there's pandering to the lazy.

you'd be surprised at some of the veterans in this game.
or...people who have been here since day 1 and didn't notice in the updater that there was a link for Patch Notes (yeah I know it's not up to date, but that's not the point)
or...people who can't multi-task like two things, I never thought of it as being hard to be in a fight and notice my team chat, but for some people, that is a problem.

per your example, if everyone had peripheral vision, things wouldn't seem so silly when people miss them, but...some people tend to focus their sight elsewhere and not really pay attention really to everything around them.
I would consider things a oversight on the other person's part before calling them lazy.

some people close it and forget about it.
either way, I'd hardly consider telling someone the exit to Pocket D is 'pandering to the lazy' as to someone figuring out how chat works first, then asks "How do I move my character?"

That would be the Email button.

The pocket D map isnt like any other city map though.
I'd understand the viewpoint about pandering if you had picked almost any other example.
Most newbies would open the map (in middle of screen maybe not knowing how to move it), click on the green dot for kings row/cap and follow the direction marker which points the wrong way.
So it aint a case of just knowing where the map button is, and what the Green dots mean on it. But knowing you need to ignore the direction it tells you to go.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):

This is exactly what tripped me up the first time I got into Pocket D. I had figured out to use the map, and had selected where I wanted to end up, but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get to that magic green dot. Now, I wonder how I ever could have been confused, but at that time? Heck, remembering what my powers did was a pain sometimes.

I would have told them several things.
1) Tell them to go click on the wrong elevator.
2) IF the elevator didn't work they were bugged. It's a known issue and the only way to fix it is to delete the game and reinstall the whole thing.
3) If you still can't click the elevator, see number 2
But thats just me, all my friends know I'm an [censored]. IMO a person playing an epic AT should know how to "leave" the zone lol.
