Dominator Changes = WTF
[ QUOTE ]
The dom changes are snazzy, but unless I'm misreading you are being overly assertive about how they play for every dom based off of arguably the most beneficial dom combo in early game.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is weird...but I agree.
I rolled a new mind/energy Dom on test and with mesmerize, dominate, power bolt and power push my attack chain is fine right now.
BUT
I think it has more to do with all the ST attacks in these two sets. Which isn't a bad thing, but using it as a basis for stating attacks chains are fine is misleading at best. My Earth/Fire Dom (which has 4 ST attacks) has a 1-2 gap unless Hasten is active.
Plus...my poor Combustion. /e poursout40fordeadhommie

Ok, i would like to know what the hell is wrong with the developers for this game. Are you serious? taking the damage off of domination...?????? WE ARE DOMINATORS.... WE DOMINATE..... should keep the damage buff. oh and PSW....? why would u lower the dmg on that?????? its A TIER 9 POWER.... its supposed to be.... good.... good job Devs. oh and positron.... GG ON NERFING AE.... the most tarded thing you've done....
[/ QUOTE ]
Amusingly, the "damage nerf" to Psychic Shockwave just about evens out when you consider the damage buff to Dominators as a whole. Instead of dealing with highs and lows, now you get a consistent high. Plus you don't have to wait 38 levels to stop sucking. Now you're about even with other secondaries from level one. How cool is that?
You know, I'm not trying to be mean to you Dominator players out here, but you guys should take a look at how Stalker players reacted to their buff and try to model your posts off them. And think: You guys got an even better buff, in my opinion.

You know what, I don't like A_C like that, and I still top the ignore list for A_C, but this is a great point.

"It's amazing how well you can put up with endurance issues if you hide them under a large enough pile of bodies."

Heh, my level 28 Gravity/Ice will be able to solo after ths goes live. I have no problem controlling, but damage is kinda weak to the point that I eventually run out of control because the damage wasn't enough to kill the mob.
To the people complaining: How about you PLAY WITH THE DAMN CHANGES BEFORE FLIPPING OUT.
I'm okay with the recharge being higher on my Ice Sword Circle, I really don't use it all that much anyway, and now when I DO use it, it will hit harder (when solo there usually aren't enough mobs in one place often enough to justify a high end cost AoE)

If balancing one power is a nerf to the majority of dominators, the power clearly merited nerfing.

and what do the dev?
they cut our AoE potential IN ALL THE SETS by increasing rech and end cost of all the interesting AoE/PBAoE powers
[/ QUOTE ]
I knew it. I haven't been able to get to test yet nor have I read the test boards. However, I was pretty sure that there would be a cost for the gift and here it is, making the AOE powers less accessable and more costly. Leaning Dominators towards single target heavy hitters and controlers. Actually pretty clever if you want to control the farming but not hit the AT so hard that no one wants to play it anymore.

[/ QUOTE ]Less accessible? Yes, they put all the AoEs up on a high shelf.
The attacks do more damage. They're going to cost more endurance as a necessity. Longer recharges means more damage. It means doms are going to be less able to lean on single powers to supply all their aoe damage and might have to consider, if they want to focus on AOEs, focusing on AOEs.
Terrible news, I know.

I think we are saying the same thing but yours is flavored with a heavy dose of sarcasim.
I don't think longer recharges mean more damage, I rather think they added longer recharges because of the increased damage. I don't get the whole focused on AOE bit, please explain futher.
Let me tell you what kind of a Dom player I am before you jump to conclusions again. I love the juggling that I do as a Dom. For me, that's the fun of the AT. Single target IS my fun. Keeping the status of a whole group in my head as I fight is fun for me. The battles I walk away from saying whew! are my favorite fights. If I were on the "special board" <yack> I would've asked for more potent controls but of course I wasn't given an invitation to that.
Edited for clarity
I believe it deals the majority of damage up front with some DoT, but I'll have to double check.
I really just want to know why the endurance and recharged was increased and the damage brought down. And I hope it's not due to "the formula."
I thought PSW is the only one getting it's damage reduced? And that the overall damage increase affects all powers equally?
As far as Combustion is concerned, I'd much rather they give it the Midnight Grasp treatment along with the animation for Irradiate. I might actually take the power on some of the characters that have it available then.
And it was gotten backwards. The increased recharge is because of the increased damage, not the other way around.

[/ QUOTE ]Combustion got a big break on damage/end/recharge because it was entirely DoT. At least if it works the way I thought, which is how the tanker version works.
If they've frontloaded the damage, that will make the power MUCH more useful.

Unfortunately, it seems Combustion does less damage now then it did under Old + Dom along with recharging slower and costing more endurance. I want to test more to confirm.

The numbers I'm looking at show that many of the pbaoes had a damage cut, recharge added and end increased.
With the new modifiers they end up close to the live version, but with longer recharges and costing more end.
In other words at the damage cap live or test they do about the same damage, but test version takes longer to cycle and costs more.
Live version can of course self buff with domination.
I don't think any of the pbaoes improved, though I suppose the range extension of WH and ISC might make them overall a bit better.
Whirling Hands is noticeably better. The others, could use some adjustment still. PSW is supposedly getting it's target cap increased.
Building an AoE Dom is still a possibility but means choosing a AoE damaged focused Primary (like Fire) and pairing it with /Fire or /PSI. (Which honestly is no different than before).
If you're already a Fire/PSI or Fire/Fire Permadom it just takes a slight change in tactics. I'm still mowing down mobs on mine, with little effort. It's not as mind numbingly easy as it was on live, but it works better than I could've hoped for. Also the hassle of positioning PSW to get it to work is exaggerated. I don't move jump or anything. I lock em down with Flashfire and FireCages. Hit PSW, smack down Drain psyche, and PSW. Lather, rinse, repeat.
As long as long as Dom's have some AoE options that allow us to complete with other high performers, most people will be satisfied in the end I think.

Fly Agaric 50 Plant/Thorn

This guy doesnt have a clue of wtf he is talking about. Im on Freedom server all day and i can tell you the majority dont care what you are.
Im willing to bet this guy is here just to troll. He realized his first statement was off and instead of just taking the L he comes back with " well they should have left it alone". Just doesnt make sense
My only question is how did this thread get to be so long? Don't feed the trolls people. The thing trolls love most is attention. Make them starve.
Well lets put it this way, they screw up dom's and that's the entire perma dom community gone. Not that the devs dont know that of course.

Where did you get the idea that "Psw is getting its target cap increased"? I must have missed that note.
On the other hanD I dont really care and welcome this damage buff.I'm gonna have 2 shades of fun in pvp til they realize" Oooops we f'ed up again!!" ** does a Britney Spears get low on the stage**
Simply amazing to me the realm of idiocy( for lack of a better word) the developers design continually.I got the reason for ED and GDN . I even get some of this reasoning. But typically after a major overhaul the reason for wahtever choices made in design become apparant. I am going on 5 issues and no perk to offset the idiocy or give clarity to the design decisions.
No big... roll with it babee!!
Editing to add...... Who really cares about whirling hands? C'mon? Again, basically getting back to homogenization. Big deal whirling hands is right up there with jumpkick and flurry now.Rock, paper, scissors!!!! Yay!!!!!!
In addition, /psi changes are fine. There is no need for additional targets cap. Multitask.
I believe the cap is going from 10-16....to standardize with the other AoE's

It was 16 before. Again? Where's the note or are you one of the "select few"?
No offense but 6 months down the line this stuff will be addressed. Possibly sooner.
Souldrain and no pocket Kin and I am mowing stuff faster than I ever did even without the buff from consistent doubles.I am not being arguementative I am simply stating a playing experience. This stuff might look great to "casual".I fully intend to take advantage of naivete.
I am the big ole meanie
Basing a complete change on the input of a bunch of "yes men " is silly. Look at whats happenned to pvp.Look at what happenned to MA.Its great that they are looking at dom's AGAIN. I love the proposed changes. I see many loopholes in the changes and have actually played many of them already. These proposed changes will do nothing but make players seek permadom or hang up the character at a later lvl than before. I'm just saying I will be surprised if after this goes live it lasts long. Thats all.To be clear.....players will likely still get irritated levelling a dominator and with the rech and end increases to many powers the plus recharge aspect becomes that more a neccesity.
I am going to dive in the Ravine with Ditzy.Goodnight.

Could never get into doms before. I played a few and it just took too damn long to kill anything out of domination. After playing around on test I can hardly wait for I15 to go live so I can try out all the different combos.
As far as those complaining about a lack of an attack chain, I have to wonder if you know you can put recharge reduction enhancements in your powers. Even at a low level on the Mind/Energy I rolled I almost always have at least 1 attack ready.
Roll a brute and try to get an attack chain at level 10 without counting brawl. It is a whole lot easier on a dom.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ya mind having levitate and mesmerize as direct damage attacks doesn't skew perspective at all. Nor does energy getting 3 st ranged attacks by lvl 10.
Not sure why you bring up brutes, but roll a dom and see how many armors it gets by lvl 10
