Because ATs are totally about individual, specific builds!
I needed a good laugh. Thanks!

Prepare to be modsmacked, /jranger wannabe.
Please buff Ice Control.
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, so, looking at these numbers, doms are still in the lowest ranks in terms of damage, right?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. In terms of straight-up damage modifiers, Dominators will deal more damage than human-form Kheldians, Tankers, Controllers, Defenders, and Corruptors, and are neck-and-neck with Soldiers and Widows as well as Kheldians in Dwarf form.
[ QUOTE ]
So, what, exactly, are we supposed to bring to AV fights?
[/ QUOTE ]
Damage with a side of control. You're now a Blaster who happens to have a set dedicated to control.
[ QUOTE ]
You still need to perma a dom to sleep the Phalanx, and unless you went crazy enough with +rech that you can hold an AV through the triangles (hi) then you're not bringing any control that a team with patron pools isn't bringing.
[/ QUOTE ]
People still sleep the Phalanx? Control is largely irrelevant in AV fights - you now bring damage to the table and that's something teams will seek.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
I'm still not taking the snipe...
and scourge is intentional? Electricity never did anything to no one. I prefer it the way it was (just by a little though).
Powerpush in energy was a great change (along with the rest of the set). And lift in gravity. I look forward to testing everything out tonight.
I know you can transfer live characters to test, but can you transfer test characters to live?

That'd be all kinds of bad. >.> There's a lot of exploitive stuff that can come about as a result of that.

Oh yeah, they level bump sometimes don't they?
I can copy my purpled out scrapper to test.
Respec him 5 times
hand the purples to my warshade on test
Purple out my warshade
copy him to live
and hey look, they're finally supporting the casual player

Do you expect tanks to turn off their shields for AV fights? Do you expect scrappers, brutes, blasters, corrupters to not attack? Do you expect Masterminds to dismiss their pets? Yet Controllers and Dominators just ignore their primary during the big fights, and you think that's not something that needs to be looked at? I'm not suggesting that Doms need a buff, I'm suggesting the way mezzing works in this game needs to be looked at.
In terms of damage, corrupters can bolster the team with buffs/debuffs, SoAs have their Leadership powers, Brutes can deal out more damage and take a hit, and Masterminds with their 6 walking meatshields as well as their own buffs and debuffs. Every single one brings damage plus something else to the table, meaning they are more useful. Which, again, leads me to suggest the way mezzing works in this game needs to be looked at.

Nothing needs to be looked at, not every fight in the game has an AV in it, most Villain TFs don't even have that many AV fights so that point is irrelivant. Lets talk about how you won't need to worry about being hit when a whole mob is stunned or held, what good are debuffs then, you don't need shields when you are not getting touched. But that is only regular mobs, which only consist of like 80% - 90% of the game but that doesn't matter.
Also Castle stated that Dominators have a dual primary so even though I am not using the control portion I can still damage.

And just to let you know Doms will be bringing blaster level damage so if you have a problem with that then you also have a problem with what Blasters bring to the team.
Stats
Blaster Power Bolt - 62.52
Dominator new Power Bolt - 69.73
Corruptor Power Bolt - 41.71
Those are base values.
To me there is nothing to complain about.

I'm suggesting the way mezzing works in this game needs to be looked at.
[/ QUOTE ]Certainly for big hard targets. I've seen a lot of suggestions for mez as they apply to big hard targets that can be useful without necessarily needing the whole mechanic to be dragged all the way across all other targets. Maybe when the classes are closer to par, we'll have a good chance to get an idea of what's wrong.
Part of the problem is that some controllers can solo AVs. So can some Doms. That makes it kinda hard to say that their mez protection is over the top.
Well I'm going to eat a big helping of crow. The changes to PSW were much, much less severe than I thought they'd be. I'm not nearly as annoyed as I was at first, and I'm glad I took a time out to wait and see what would happen.
Not 100% thrilled, but not earth shatteringly disappointed either.
My level 50 Dominators:
Madame Mindbender 50 Mind/Energy
Fly Agaric 50 Plant/Thorn
Nate Nitro 50 Fire/Psi

S'generally why I try to curb my feelings on subjects until I get to pick them apart. Granted, I'm sort of underwhelmed at the net changes myself, but I went in with somewhat reserved caution so I don't feel as bad.
Though I'm glad things weren't as bad as you feared. That's always a good thing to hear.
PSW does 85% of the damage it would be doing in permadom right?

From the looks of it yes..but you're talking to a English Lit major, so my math may be faulty.

My Fire/fire dom will be amazing to play once these changes hit live.
So, I was figuring I15 wouldn't have the changes in it, so I didn't bother downloading test. Instead, I geared up - a L5 dom, a level 40 dom and a level 50 dom IO'd out the buggery. And now I am staring at this situation and seeing that Test on my connection will take a mere 11 hours.
WHEEE.
something is weird about this test update too, I've been trying to get into it all day. After i'm done reinstalling the test server i'm gonna try one of the fix's recommended, hopefully i'll be able to test a little bit today.
It's entirely possible that your connection to the update server is bad. I know mine is.
I feel sort of lucky.
I only had my client implode four times trying to get the patch downloaded and my test-client updated, and it only took me two hours, tops. >_>
I just tried it on my Earth/Fire.
Wow. Just wow. I can definitely see a difference.
I just hate that they slowed Flares down. Was easy to chain with Fire Blast before. And I do chug down a bit more end now.
Im gonna have to tear myself away and not play my Dom until these changes come out on live.
Gonna be hard.
What's flares...? My earth/fire rocks. He is also is hot. Still no stamina at level 33 (I have consume though).
I <3 my flares. Even more so now!
