Dom Revamp on Test
Lol Aoe.
Not really. With the damage mod boost, most of the AoEs aren't hit quite as hard as it seems.
Kinda iffy about the increased recharge/end cost for the thorns powers and the increased dmg, I'll have to test those. (But thats me just being picky cause my dom already had enough damage and he just barely gets by without having to use psink so i'm probably just whining lol)

I was deliberately doing that one.
Whirling Hands is 15 feet.
I have my Grav/Energy on test to try out (Energy being the lolziest of the Assault sets so the best test bed for changes).
That is, I'll try it out when the Mac test client gets fixed.

Guess I'll mosey on to test and see how the car feels now that the mechanics are mostly done under the hood.
Some real big surprises in there, but overall very intrigued. Can't say I'm happy yet... but intrigued.

Thunder Strike 0,315 0,3255
Whirling Hands 0,75 1,155
Combustion 0,9 0,84
ICS 1,1625 1,2495
PSW 1,47 1,2705
Thorn Burst 0,675 0,9975
Old - New.
thx SkarmonyThePG
Whirling and thornburst are clearly buffed, ISC a bit. PSW nerfed. The rest (combust, thunder) look about even for DPA (most pbaoes had rech and end tacked on though).
Old doms could boost the "old" numbers with domination, new ones need to use reds, or team buffs (of which old doms could do too).
Pretty dramatic changes. Although it looks like most of Electricity Assault was changing the Blaster version of attacks to the Melee version of attacks. Also, all Sniper attacks are getting more damage and longer recharge.
The change to Lift intrigues me, though. Will Controllers get the same change?
Oh a sarcasmo-meter! That must be really useful!

Super Reflexes: the Golden Fox of power sets!
WARNING: I bold names.
Nearly every power listed in that thread had its Recharge and End cost increased. This is not a good thing for drawing in new Dom players, if that was the idea behind all of this.

That's why I'm running two tests - my Ice/Elec at 16 (I screwed around and didn't get to 18 like I planned), and a new throwaway dom. See how she cruise, yanno?
Dey peemped mah ride, but did dey improve it?

True But Pre-Stamina most everything has fits of endurance woes so its not like its that big of a deal, and with Domination being free to do something other than be a damage Crutch, while you are a lowbie you can pop it in longer fights for the Blue Bar Boost.

With the higher End and Recharge for your powers, you won't be able to attack as quickly to build Dom as quickly though. This is particularly an issue in the lower levels when many people form their first opinions of whether they want to play an AT or not. Not being able to do anything because either you're out of End or your powers haven't recharged yet is already a problem in the pre-Stamina levels. From what I can see, this would only make the problem worse.
And for those people saying Dom has only ever been a damage crutch, I think they're a bit delusional. Status Protection and extra Mag on your mezzes is huge. That's why I built for Perma-Dom, not the damage buff. The damage buff was just icing on the cake.

From your initial assessment, this is a problem. Unfortunately, this is only an assessment made based on examination of the issue on paper - my recommendation is that you actually try it out before you make any judgements from this.
If it's at least better then my Stone/Stone Brute is out of the gate, I'd have to consider that a bit of a win. Unfortunately, Test just went down for maintenance, so I can't really get anything verifiable at the moment. :/

The increased recharge may be a problem. But the increased Endurance is proportional to the increased Damage. So your DPE has not increased. You will still spend exactly the same amount of Endurance to do the same amount of damage. Thus, it will still cost the same amount of Endurance to defeat the same foe, it will just take less attacks. (But possibly still the same amount of time)
In fact, since the damage outside of Domination has increased, you will do MORE damage for each point of Endurance, and thus will have MORE Endurance left over. You will be more Endurance efficient, not less.
As for the increased recharge, the ability of Energy Assault to build Domination faster than other sets because it had shorter recharge times was never touted as an advantage. In fact, Electricity Assault, which was said to be the most damaging Secondary, is getting its Recharge times reduced.

My copy of test on my Mac ate itself when I tried to update to the last patch (it somehow managed to delete the actual game and pseudo Windows directory). Probably gonna copy files over from my Windows version if it'll save me time.

Yes, elec looks to now be mirroring the elec melee model rather than /elec manipulation model. Sucks for /elec doms.
Even this change is only half complete though, Castle forgot to turn thunderstrike into the elec melee version which is a decent aoe. Instead it remains a ST attack with tiny splash damage. Which is fine when it hits about as hard as Total Focus as the blaster version does and the old dom version did.
/unsigned for the /elec changes.

I'm aware of that change. Still testing things out at the moment, however, because there still are a lot of power changes that went through (specifically for Elec, the set I was most interested in testing) to look at as well.
And from the context of the full post, I think he might have meant the change specifically to put PSW and PS on the Melee table, and not the Ranged one. I'll have to check some numbers later on tonight, though, to verify (if someone doesn't beat me to it).
EDIT: Nope, he meant the full tables. Confirmed on live - though it's interesting to note I still managed to drop an even-con lieutenant faster on Test. Not sure what that's all about... might've had something to do with actually having my damage heavy hitters up faster, probably more attribute to luck.
I like how people are both complaining about how the set in general is gettiing more damage but also more end and recharge AND the onl yset which got less damage for less recharge and end.
Or complaining because their PSW is the same as Blasters. And if these changes prove to be good, I might actually roll a Dominator.
Yep, i'm excited, because I've always loved playing dominators, although my highest is only upper 20's(mainly because I can't decide on WHICH dom i want to play)
[ QUOTE ]

It's not. Check the new numbers again. In addition to dealing less damage than the Blaster version, the new PSW costs almost twice the endurance.
