Because long drawn out fights with Bosses and EBs isn't boring? Challenge through annoyance isn't good game design.

CLEARLY it is not boring to a large group of people if the global MMO population is any indication. I'll even include myself in that vote since I still play and enjoy this game. I do not find it boring... anyone else?

Lack of challenge through anyone being able to do anything they can imagine is also boring. Why bother playing if we all really had super heroes that were literally 'invulerable' and were able to move mountains? If you know you can't be beaten, and you know that you can beat anyone... Conceptually it's just like some of the higher end comic book powers, but to me that sounds like the worst video game of all time.

Thank you for nitpicking a single statement about how the game you would like to play is not possible and turning it around to this game is boring to you. I concede... this game is boring to you and will never be fixed to your demands. You can stop wasting your time arguing (read: trolling) about it. Let those who still enjoy it play and you are free to go to whatever it is you do actually like.

I love my Inv/Axe tanker for a few reasons:

Unless it's swinging Kung-Fu made out of Psi damage, I can have max aggro mobs swinging on me and go afk.

Orange numbers are sexy.

Out-damaging the scrappers.

Taunting a mob and killing it with the Psi damage IO.

Thousands of hitpoints.

I love my tankers because they're the only characters that I can play with the Han Solo-esque "Never tell me the odds!" mentality and survive with regularity. No group of foes is too big, nor no single foe too intimidating to prevent me from stepping in to take the heat off others. Only with my tankers do I throw caution to the wind, because only with my tankers is caution not a necessity.

It isn't? Hmmm I did the new Hero TF on test and spent an hour taunting and pounding on Reichman. The only disappointment for me was his Unstoppable power (which I certainly hope they listen to all of us and fix before live) made it impossible to defeat him. Then again I had his attention and the majority of his damage output and I didn't DIE either. STALEMATE .. Catch you again soon and I am sure the results will be different!

I solo quite a few of the Preatorans as EBs with my tanks and I could care less if it take 5 minutes or 20 when it's over I just took out a villain boss solo that some 8 man teams face plant trying to handle. How is that NOT fun? lol

I have dual builds on most of my tanks so I have a team build heavier on Defense and anything that helps hold aggro or helps the team. My solo build goes heavier on Damage output and concentrates on defenses that keep ME alive since there is no one else to worry about. Those build usually do not include taunt since my very presence is the taunt. This allows me to take attacks soon, slot them heavier and do quite nicely thanks.

Why do I Luv my Tank..

I stand face to face with Lusca, wiggle a finger at her and say come get this. I smile at Paragon Protectors that hit MoG and say Hey I can wait I have ALL day. I just feel so much love when 15 or so villains are crowded around me.. you like me YOU REALLY like me! LOL Infernal won't return my calls anymore because I have helped beat him so much. Maurader has a poster of me on HIS wall. No other AT, and I do play them all, can take so much and just stand there grinning and asking for more. As for damage ... Try slotting for it. A Blaster or Scrapper may do more DPS but my attacks hit harder and since I have been the TANK still standing and doing damage long after the rest of the team face planted, and been the one on the floor watching some one else's Tank do the same, I'd say I do my share on any team I am on. Now if I could just get the Blasters or Scrappers that aggroe 2-3 mobs instead of letting me aggro one to start with we wouldn't have this SITUATION would we? *giggles*

No, you didn't. You took down a watered down EB version that most 8 man teams would steamroll over in a couple seconds and not the AV that spawns for 8 man teams.

Face them as AVs, their true form, and I strongly suspect another outcome.

How would you know?

Unless you actively play a game you dislike so much... Although I suppose it's possible because you do actively post with such blatant misplaced authority against others experiences about a game you dislike so much.

If you do play ... why would you?

Why do I love my tanker?

Because instead of relying on cleaning up after a near-wipe, like my scrapper has to (no taunt aura in /regen), I can proactively prevent it with OG, taunt, and Death Shroud.

Because despite certain people with the initials J_B claiming tankers have no offense, I still one-shot white minions, if I don't have a Boss to focus on.

I love my tank because she is durable. I draw a line in the sand, and that line does not get crossed.

Sure, my controllers can render a whole spawn immobile and not fighting back, but they can't actually take hits like my tanker.

My blasters can annihilate entire spawns with little effort, but every shot that they do get off is a telling blow.

My defenders might be able to reduce an entire mission to mewling whelps, rather than threats, but it's not the same as standing in the middle of the mob, fighting it out, and not flinching from mighty blows.

My scrappers..... Eh, they're fun, too, but a lot more intensive concentration-wise to their health.

In short, I like my tankers, because they survive.

Also, Airhammer, love the Taz quote in your sig.

I love my tanker(s) because there's nothing like taking an AV's alpha, letting a slow grin creep across your face, and saying, "if that's your best shot, you're about to have a very bad day."

And all the minions look at the AV nervously and say "You're gonna need a bigger boat!"

lol McBoo. I have to agree though, or taking the best shots from multiple AV's and barely flinching.

I love my Tanker's because...

No other AT makes me talk to the screen like Bruce Willis, Arnie Govenator, The Rock, or Mr. Stallone.

When I jump into the middle of a huge mob of bad guys and the hits start comming and I get to stand there and shout at the screen...

"IS THAT ALL YOU GOT...!!!"

Gimme Minions, Lts, Bosses, EBs, AVs, even the occasional GMs...and I still stand there shouting...

"IS THAT ALL YA GOT...!!!"

When I cruise the PvP zones with no fear and the sneaky, squishy Stalker AS's me from behind and tries to make a run for it, I get to shout...

"IS THAT ALL YA GOT...!!!"

Yeah, I love my Tanker's...

I love my tankers because while both they and my brutes both use the line, "Come, and break your weapons upon me" to an AV, my tankers don't faceplant in five seconds 30% of the time.

Taunt is why I love Tankers.

I usually play controllers. I love managing the big picture. Tanks are fun to me when they do more than just survive everything. It's when they invite destruction that things get fun.

Using Taunt to force a mob to attack a target they have no chance of defeating is a form of mind control. Inviting them to take a shot at the guy cracking jokes about their moms, instead of the guy shooting a fireball up their backside is total mental subversion. A well-placed Taunt can be the ultimate lockdown.
