What's the downside to the AE thing?
Besides mission completion XP/Inf, there's arc XP/inf rewards (they can be - relatively - huge at the lower levels), patrol XP doesn't work in MA, and no Merits awarded. There's also no purple recipe drops.

Rested XP doesn't work in AE. To burn it you need to do normal missions (or die).

Well...you've already pointed out the lack of bonus XP for mission completion.
Patrol XP doesn't get used in architect missions either.
You can't get purple drops in the architect.

That's it eh?
Opinion time: They should drop the inf gain in AE, playing video games doesn't increase your influence in the community...trust me! Maybe make the ticket thing a little better way to acquire specific salvage....They should definitely do something though...I miss seeing heroes on the street.
We get free issues with new features frequently.
The last expansion was CoV which was announced a year before it was released and was in development long before they announced it was coming.
It could easily be 2010 before Going Rogue is released, and it was being worked on probably as long as CoV was. There was even a survey done last year asking for opinions on some of the features in the new expansion.
We've known they were working on something for some time, it's just coincidence they confirmed it after I14 was released.
No badges except the architect badges in the architect. No defeat badges, no inf. badges, no debt badges.
Also, if you level up in the AE, you'll miss a lot of badges and the accolade powers that come with them. You'll miss opening up Ouroboros and the Midnight Club and unlocking hidden contacts (redside) and TFs (blueside).

But after you leave Ouroboros, you won't be in the AE building anymore. Then you'll have to, like, travel back to it. That's tooooooo haaaaaaaaard.

As far as I'm aware, they don't - except for the AE Day Job specifically stating that you get extra tickets. The others that award bonus salvage on mission completion, for example, don't work for AE missions.

You don't get recipes or common invention salvage. This becomes an issue at around level 32, when simple IOs become as good as even level SOs. It's fairly easy to keep your SOs updated with tickets, but you won't be replacing them with simple IOs, and thus spend money or tickets on their upkeep longer.
You are not getting badge missions or defeat badges in MA. This puts important accolades like Atlas Medallion harder to achieve. I recommend that you take time out around 23-28 to run the Moonfire task force a couple times, which usually helps a lot in getting your Slayer and Silver Bullet badges.

Maybe you should get more. +20% HP or temporary +RES/DEF powers are really great and very useful. +20% HP helps way more than most people realize.
One of the reasons I stick to redside is that Portal Jockey, Task Force Commander, and Eye of the Magus are so annoying to obtain.

Yes, they do. Get as many +HP and +DEF inventions as you like, until you're totally maxed out and can't get any more. Now add ANOTHER +20% HP ON TOP of that, plus a click for +30% RES to all damage types.

I consider the Atlas Medallion at the very least to be standard fare for most of my characters. It's pretty easy to obtain through normal play, and the +5 Endurance is quite a boon.

There doesn't seem to be an xp downside...you can get common slavage faster with tickets than with the real deal...you can pick and choose your uncommon and rare slavage...there's no travel time -
I mean, there's technically a ticket mission bonus rather than xp/inf...but can't you get anything you'd buy with inf with tickets?
There's got to be a downside I'm not seeing....otherwise I don't see why you'd bother making an expansion since everyone just hangs out inside the AE building anyway..
(and I know a lot of people call it MA..but come on, it says AE on the map...)
