Many of my missions because of the defaul mobs I was useing ended up not being worth any XP and got alot of complaints they weren't worth doing. These mobs have allso been replaced with custom critters.
[/ QUOTE ]
So customs are worth more XP than normal mobs? -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't really get what you mean by "real time history lesson, this is where you come in." Am I supposed to re-imagine the AE system as something else? Whatever... diving in!
[/ QUOTE ]
That meant that you were living through the secret history of how AE came about by being placed inside that history. I'll look into making that more obvious.
[ QUOTE ]
After defending the converter (why? not sure, but that's the mission goal, so I DO IT!),
[/ QUOTE ] It's what the freaks were sent to destroy. The data stream technology in "good guy" hands leaves the good guys a way to rescue heroes trapped in the data stream.
[ QUOTE ]
a linked goal pops up: Himini Giblets. I guess that's a boss name, and I gotta go fight a boss now? Wish there were some exposition here. OK, kill more Freaks,
omw...
Yes, Himini Giblets is a Freakshow boss. He goes down quickly, and with him dies the dream that a Freak boss may name himself without a l33tsp34k reference to pop culture or electronics. Perhaps my contact will explain a bit more about his illustrious past...
[/ QUOTE ] He wasn't anything special, I just figured for a major operation like that the gang needed a leader.
[ QUOTE ]
Mission 2
----------
No, my contact says, "Really the Freakshow were hired to destroy a data stream converter? Maybe you should go raid another Crey lab." The logic eludes me, but it's spelled out AFTER I accept the mish. Alrighty.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll reconsider that branch of text.
[ QUOTE ]
Okay, running through the base, clearing it out, come across a boss. Half way through kicking her [censored], I'm suddenly booted and mission failed. Hrm?? Saw two "interrogate" options, assumed I had a couple of boss fights to do? I sure missed something, wonder what it was. <shrug>
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm...there's a linked event to her defeat, as she's supposed to tell you that arachnos is picking up a data stream converter (which you are then supposed to destroy so they can't). Somehow the arachnos guys must have been triggered with you not nearby....
[ QUOTE ]
Boss fight... Grimz doesn't look like he's wearing Council standard-issue. Is this one of those "hey I put my toon in my story arc" story arcs?
[/ QUOTE ]
Only because I couldn't figure out how to dress him in arachnos gear...is there someway to unlock the standard arbiter costume for use in my arcs?
[ QUOTE ]
At half or 1/4 health point (hard to tell, Grimz's health is dropping faster than the 2008 DJI) a HUGE ambush joins the party. I count five or six mobs, including two LT's. Seems big for diff level 3, but maybe I just got a weird roll. I pull it out, but not sure I'd count this as "solo-friendly." (Nor does it claim to be, afaik...)
[/ QUOTE ] There's actually 3 ambushes 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4. I guess he's going down too quickly so they all showed up at the same time..
[ QUOTE ]
Full props to the Achilles' -RES debuffs for that victory, btw, they really worked Grimz over on that one.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know what that means...is there something I should do to make his health go down slower?
[ QUOTE ]
Wow, small map and look who's standing just inside the door? Countess Crey!! OK, mercs, this is a stealth op. Come in quiet-like, kk? Good. And... here we go! No, no, ignore the Countess for now, just take out those four Crey tanks. Oh, six. What? Seven? Fine, we'll come back for the last two. Okay, Crey goes down and... not over. Must be a mob hiding out here somewhere... yes! C'mere you little Cryo Tank! OK, that does it. Virtual victory locked in.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll reconsider the map for that one.
[ QUOTE ]
Good length for the arc. Goldilocks and all that. Overall, I'm hovering between 3 & 4 stars... first couple of missions didn't start off on the right note, but I really like the roach motel concept, so let's call it 4. Nicely done.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks very much for the review -
So I just hit 27 and went to IO set out my char, and I realized that was going to be prohibitively expensive (to do a whole set), so I pondered grabbing a couple of IOs from each set.
For example, acc/rech/hold from each of the hold sets, rather than say the acc/end and hold/range or whatever.
Is this feasible, or will the diminishing returns thing bite me in the behind? -
Oh sorry
I did, though I never understood the poetry part. I might not be educated enough. I did think that maybe there should be more....so maybe smart people could figure out what's revealed by the yearbook from the poems somehow.
I like that the overall story is a shade of gray in the moral area -

My latest arc
The Fireside Poet
#189439
Levels 1-14
Heroic
5 missions, but a fast play.
Definitely solo'able, with Skulls as the mobs and 1 custom boss (not EB or AV) at the end of the arc.
Story driven.
What seems to be the case of a routine Skulls break-in, reveals itself as a much deeper tale of sorrow, vengeance, and madness.
Any reviews or feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Stanza 1, To the Minotaur: The skull's comment to the hostage seems a bit...much? contrived? I think something along the lines of "the boss says you're collateral and we can do as we please" would be more appropriate. It seems like they're babysitting/keeping her alive rather than posing a serious threat to her that we rescue her from.
I liked finding whitman, really made me want to see where this was going.
Stanza 2, testimony of brutus:
The contact return info was good, but the dialog of the boss felt like a giant bowl of nacho cheese.
Stanza 3, My name is ozymandias:
I really liked the mission full of cops and skulls, but the dialog went off and the fight started long before I got in the room, and I think I ended up taking 2 swipes at a skull to "rescue" the fella.
Stanza 4, Mephistopheles Gambit:
This served the plot well, but it seems the explosives and canisters should be optional considering the villain text.
Stanza 5, Father and Sons:
It felt like there should be a timelimit on this mission. Also, probably a side effect of outdoors, I ran across the villain long before finding Eliot.

"Architect of YOUR DOOM"
Arc ID: 197601
Length: Long
Missions: 4
Description: A rogue Crey Operative tells the story behind Architect Entertainment. -
It's freaks, crey, and arachnos...and since arachnos was 1-54 I had the nasty problem of that mission revealing the level spread of the team...so I went back and republished with funky patrols that spawn when the mission complete objective is finished and now it auto-sk's to 40-ish
-
So, the other day I was running of my "tour of the AE thing" to get the contact out of my list, when I naturally announced to the inhabitants:
This whole thing is an evil plot to get heroes off the streets!
That ended up turning into a conversation with someone who suggested I make an arc about it...so I did.
I proudly present for your approval and/or bashing:
Architect of YOUR DOOM - the vile truth behind the Architect Entertainment, arc ID: 197601 -
The point was that it seems the system is too good, to the point there's no reason to do anything else. There should be a clear benefit to NOT leveling via AE. Like not having to run all over to get to your next mission is a clear benefit of doing AE.
-
p.s. the vanguard look pretty tight too, please add those as costume parts recipes if they aren't there already
-
Is there any way to get a red and white (that's freedom corps ya?) outfit? I'd like to have one for when I PvP. I understand that I can make myself a red and white outfit...but I mean is there any way to unlock/buy the chest logo and/or other necessary parts?
-
WOW. I just had to look this up. That's pretty horrible devs.
-
That's it eh?
Opinion time: They should drop the inf gain in AE, playing video games doesn't increase your influence in the community...trust me! Maybe make the ticket thing a little better way to acquire specific salvage....They should definitely do something though...I miss seeing heroes on the street. -
There doesn't seem to be an xp downside...you can get common slavage faster with tickets than with the real deal...you can pick and choose your uncommon and rare slavage...there's no travel time -
I mean, there's technically a ticket mission bonus rather than xp/inf...but can't you get anything you'd buy with inf with tickets?
There's got to be a downside I'm not seeing....otherwise I don't see why you'd bother making an expansion since everyone just hangs out inside the AE building anyway..
(and I know a lot of people call it MA..but come on, it says AE on the map...) -
On protector tune into the global channel 'Protector Watch' and on Pinnacle tune into 'PinnacleMonsters'
The people that do tha see stuff like da Paladin or da Ghostship or really anything interesting other than hamidon let everyone else listening know. -

Something I've always wondered...
Why do people feel the need that they *have* to be "Optimal" to have fun? Why does everything have to boil down to the numbers?

For the first ten levels, it doesn't make much of a difference. After that, and in increasing amounts, enhancement slots are my reward for grinding all the way to the next level. It may take an hour with my fire tank, or 4 hours with my grav controller, but those enhancement slots are my reward for that time. To misuse that reward because of lack of information (damage resistance maximum percentages for example) is upsetting. -
Before this thread gets too long with much deserved praise for Cuppa, I have a question. It is suggested that the best place for the devs to see our concerns is in an official thread. What is our proper course of action if there is no official thread on the issue.
For example, as mentioned a couple of posts ago, the information available on powers effectiveness, caps on resistances, caps on slotting effectiveness are all difficult to find for the casual gamer. Many of us feel very strongly about this issue. I haven't found an official thread on the issue and would like there to be one. What should I do? -
I've played with the new propel alot, and I really like the damage increase. I tend to use it knocking opponents into my partner's burn radius
I REALLY wish that it was a cone though. It's still painfully slow to solo with a grav controller (at least pre-32) and it just doesn't make sense that the group of guys around my target weren't affected by the car I threw at him.
I think the best way to do it would to be a cone like the katana cone, based on the targets location and not the players.
Another thing I don't really like about propel is that when I see a car, other people might see a monitor or a forklift. Everyone doesn't see the same effect. -

Wormhole: I prefer the suggestion (made by several including myself) to add a moderate AoE disorient around the destination location. This preserves the orginal use of the power and makes it a viable AoE control.
[/ QUOTE ]
Out of curiosity, how do you invision using it if it was made this way? From what I've read here, most ppl use the (now old) I3 wormhole to pull pesky things out of a group. If that's it's standard usage, wouldn't it be more worthwhile to disorient around the target you are pulling out rather than the area around where you are putting the target? -
[ QUOTE ]
Here's an idea. We want precise target control with Wormhole, devs want AoE disorient with Wormhole.
We can have both.
Wormhole teleports one enemy, single target and precise. But the exit spot gets the AoE disorient, weak AoE control at level 26. We all get what we want.
The single target grab allows us to throw FF gens, auto-turrets, and DE stumps away from the team. The AoE disorient on exit allows a fig leaf of AoE control. They can even split the to-hit rolls like they do with Blind's hold/sleep setup so the teleport has the normal accuracy and the disorient has the AoE penalty accuracy.
Wormhole gets a clear buff instead of a 50/50 berf. Vote!
[/ QUOTE ]
Define exit spot. Personally, if i'm pulling an FFG out of a group, i'd like the group to get the AoE disorient, not everything around where I put the FFG to be disoriented. -
Can you give me tarpatch, and call it ...high gravity patch. That'd be better than the new wormhole afaiac.
-
12-13 and 14-21 eh? Very Very Odd.

I only wish they'd realize there's a difference between
MMPORPG and Grouping; but that's a dead horse issue.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention the difference between Solo content and MMO content. If EVERYONE defeats Doc Vahz...really NO ONE has defeated Doc Vahz.
Real MMO content requires GM intervention I think. For example the Rikti invasion around release. I wasn't here for it, but it sounded like the winterlord thing might have been MMO content as well. Except that nothing really happens if no one stops him, the Clockwork Paladin is getting close to real MMO content.
Mind you, I enjoy playing CoH, but if they made the city a living changing place, and not a series of static events everyone gets to go through, it would be a much better game. As it stands, I really wish they'd take all the 'content' scale the missions perfectly for proper level advancement/content exposure, and release a single player version without the unnecessary grinding.
