Issue 4 Changes for Gravity - Official Thread
W00t! Glad to see Grav get some love!
Wow, that sounds like an excellent start and an unexpected treat!
Time to do some testing, I think.
Still patching...
ARRRGH!!!! I AM TRAPPED AT WORK!!! MUST PLAY UPDATE 4!!!
I'm at work right now and I just read and re-read 15 minutes ago. Thank you for the Gravity lovin'!!
Got me a 26 Grav w/ respec on her. Going to have a lot of fun playing in that sandbox.
Propel got a damage increase plus damage is tripled when an opponent is held! Tell me that's just not sweet justice. I quote the Tick "Whoa...gravity is a harsh mistress!!"
Notice something about intangibility? They reduced the durations and increased the recharge times. But nowhere did they include that anything granted resistance to intangibility as a status effect.
Hey guys, do you know what this means?!?!?!?
Oh yes, it means I'm making sure to have both Wormhole and DS. I've been happy with my grav controller, but now we are uber! We now have 3 AoE control powers with different effects, so we can rotate through them in the arena. Also, no insp to break free from the DS... we might just be in high demand...
I just tested out my perma-hastened/Siphon speed build on Test. Sings are 4 slotted for recharge, 2 damage. I was able to get 4 sings out for over 20 seconds with siphon speed going.

Triple???? That's awesome. I may even play my Grav/Rad again. WOOO
Isn't it only triple in pvp?
Oh and Aoe Wormhole? HAHAHA It's RAINING MINIONS!!!!
My grav/kin is now the most fun evah!
Yes, aoe wormhole is too much fun now
sounds like grav got a pretty good boost here
Were we really this gimped and I just never noticed?
Speed boost reduces target attack rate and increases yours. WHOA. Gotta get that power!

My grav/kin will no longer be gathering mothballs it looks like.
Heh, same here.
My Grav/Kin (first character) was so gimped...took Crushing Field, Dimension Shift, and Siphon Speed (no travel power).
YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!
Looks like we won't need to wait until Issue 5 for Controllers to get a lot of love. Even Illusion, surely not a lacking power set, is looking at the ability to attack while using Superior Invisiblity (which now works against Snipers).
Mind controllers may have reason to complain. No noticable changes to them, and Fear and Confuse just were put under wraps by a lot of powers that now offer resistance to their effects.
Propel seems to be doing an additonal 50% damage. This is good, and I figure, including Freezing Rain, my unslotted Hurl Boulder and the Singularity damage, I'll be able to hit a held enemy in the arena for something to the tune of over 700 damage at least before it wears off.
Singularity damage resistance is something I'll have to test in a mission, where I can get a lone minion or two to play with.
AoE Wormhole is a lot of fun, except now I'll have to spend time slotting it
I'm glad I picked up Dimension Shift, too. Might stick with just the three slots in that one, depending on how it works once the Arena comes back online. The Arena is currently down for an indefinite period of time until they can fix the fairly serious "mapserve every three seconds" thing that happened while it was up.
I have a Storm secondary, too, so I might be in even more demand. Protection from endurance drain, sleep, disorient and confusion added! Woo!
OK, so how does wormhole work now exactly? Does it port everything in it's AE, port one target and disorient everything else in it's AE (in which case does it disorient around the target before or after it ports?), or is it just an AE disorient now? Inquiring minds want to know!

AoE port and Disorient. It's raining minions!
I'm not certain whether I like or dislike that, but it does have absolutely MASSIVE! cool factor.
Just got done testing some of the changes.
Propel: Activation time is still the same. But now it does a little more damage than before. Currently it does 3 less points of damage than my Power Blast to a Rikti Soldier. Propel: 122 damage.
Powerblast: 125 damage total. (75 energy 25 smashing).
Then again, this is still significanty more damage in pvp against a held target (if you can ever get them held or keep them held long enough). Not sure if the bonus damage is from any controller power, or just from their base pool. The problem remains that
A: its about equal damage to Spectral Wounds but with a MUCH longer activation time
B: Being the most resisted damage type out there.
Wormhole: They posted that now Gravity has two control powers: Like heck we do. The duration of Wormhole's disorient is still 5-6 seconds base on even con mobs. Even with 3 Duration SOs, that comes to a 10-12 second disorient. Ick. With the added recharge, its still not a viable control effect.
The aoe effect has the same radius as Gravity Distortion Field, however the location you teleport the mobs to stretches the mobs out into a line with about 3-5 feet between them all. Forget trying to to port mobs into a nice cluster for aoes: it just won't happen.
Dimension Shift has some useful applications in PvP that I won't share here. But the recharge has thus been increased. Although the already unenhanceable duration has been decreased.
The biggest issue I have is with the classification of Gravity skills as smashing type... the most resisted type. Accounts for the tons of misses I have been experiencing. I also believe it is bugged and offering MORE defense to things vulnerable to smashing as opposed to less defense. Gravity Distortion Field Slotted with 3 Accuracy/Mez Enhancers (the accuracy equivalent of 4.5 accuracy SOs) Missed 3/6 Boulder Mobs (vulnerable to smashing).
I was really hoping that our control gap would be lessened or perhaps our damaeg power would be placed on par with spectral wounds. Sadly I ended up disappointed.
PPS: Sorry about the overly wordy and excessive number of paragraphs. I am in a rush to get back on test and test the changes to my other characters.
Wormhole works the same as it did before.
Click a target and activate the power. Choose your end-point.
Every enemy in a radius around the target gets the Wormhole animation.
At the end of the animation, the enemy is teleported to the end-point (all nice and clustered, too!) and is Disoriented. With one even-level (white) Disorient Duration SO, the duration seems to be around the five second mark, though I didn't have much time to test before the login server went down.
The only noticeable change from the original (besides the AoE) is the removal of the knockback component, meaning that your enemies will stay where you put them (provided they're immobilised first) instead of flying away from you. The range is still long enough to put an enemy out of targetting range of the caster.
edit: Seems that others have noted a difference in the way Wormhole places the mobs. I must admit, I've only tried with small numbers of +2 Rikti, but I intend to get over to a Hazard Zone for some proper testing later.
I found the knockback is still in. And the mobs spread out in an array when you port a group.

Thanks for testing this. If enough of us can do some testing of our own and post results here, maybe we can rally enough support to AT LEAST raise it's base disorient duration, thus making enhancing it more worthwhile.
The "stretching" that you noticed is probably something that isn't easily fixed, but I remain opimistic that an AoE ANYTHING will be manipulated into something useful.
Sings are faster and have higher damage resistance. Propel does more damage.
WORMHOLE IS AOE DISORIENT! Recharge time was increased to compensate. Man I wish I had a respec available to try this out, I'll have to wait til I hit 44 and get my next power selection.
I'm a Grav/Kin controller, and they gave Kinetics some loving too. I am one of the few that took Siphon Speed, but now everyone will It reduces foes attack rate and buffs your own (personal speed boost... woot!) Transfusion takes even more end from the enemy now, and reduces their recovery rate.
