Remove all i14 Architect Content

I14 is a pretty huge catastrophe for CoH.

I didn't realize how things like powerleveling, farming and getting the best equipment right at the beginning of the game ruined games for me, when I was much younger. After I went through a game doing stuff like that, I would quickly get tired of the game and move on to a different game. Well, as I got older, I learned to enjoy the game for what it was...

With I14 Architect, the devs have accidently changed the game into a powerleveling, farming, give you the best stuff easy game. Obviously not the fault of the Devs because they forgot how greedy we players are. We as players have turned I14 Architect into a legal cheat that allows us to go from level 1 to 40 in 1 day (I actually heard someone in AE stating they had just done that exact same thing).

Shame on us players...

Honestly, I don't know if there is anything that can be done to architect to fix it, but here are the list of problems that I see so far.

1. Easy XP
2. Easy Recipes
3. Easy Salvage
4. You don't have to move around to other parts of the game. Instead you have a bunch of people sitting in AE all day long.

Devs, you have an Epic Catastrophe on your hands right now. You're going to lose a multitude of people from your game as they burn themselves out. Sure you have people that enjoy farming, powerleveling etc, but most people burn out on games really quick when you can beat them in 1 to 2 days.

I guess you can get rid of XP entirely, however, no one would play AE missions anymore. (Just the same as getting rid of I14)

Maybe you could get rid of tickets and influence from the AE missions, but there again, people would stop playing the AE missions.

Don't get me wrong. In a none greedy world, I14 Architect would be great. But if you lose half your player base because of burn out, then what's the point?

And contrasting this is the fact that some of the content in MA is amazingly challenging, thoughtful and fun.

If only everyone would stop playing that comm officers mission for a second to do decent content.

What you reap is what you sow. Start doing decent missions and you will start having fun again.

I agree they need to do something because it is way too easy.

Perhaps they should prevent maps from spawning only one enemy only and not allow rangeless powersets to be both primary and secondary for custom critters.

what does it matter to you how someone else plays their game? you are not being forced into doing anything in the game. you have multiple options how to play your toons. seriously we don't need another " AE is the Devil" thread. this is the FoTM. it will die down. go play the game the way you want and stop trying to tell people how to play.

They could add in an option where we have to choose a single level 1 range power regardless of sets instead of forcing more set control. I agree with the removing of one enemy options. I'd go as far as to say restrict it so all mission must have at least 1 minion and 1 lt selection.

This right here. You can just get a team of flying blasters with a troller or 2 to lock everything down and got damn its way to easy.

How exactly do you "beat" an MMO? Thats like saying don't surf the web too fast or you'll reach the end of the internet.

If you don't want to farm, dont farm. Its really that simple.

there is nothing you can do to stop farming from happening, nothing at all. All the devs can realistically do is stop exploitive farming from happening, creating really weak custom minions, or only placing mobs that grant abnormally high xp. However creating maps for the purpose of farming can not be stopped.

Honestly, its that persons 15 a month, and how they play has no real effect on me. I know what I am doing, I can still form a team when I want, if I want to run a task force, I will either jump on one that is forming, form my own, or come to the boards to start a sign up, just like I did before I14.

In short, Mission Architect is just fine as it is.

It doesn't matter what an individual does as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of over individuals. Since architect is removing a vast majority of the population of players into farms, increasing the price of salvage and will lead to people quitting the game further reducing the population of the game, then as a whole, architect is effecting other players.

I would really like to think, before investing the time and the effort into developing this aspect of the game, someone put some thought into the effect i14 would have and came to the conclusion that it was a good idea. I like it. Many other like it. Yes it has changed the game but we also have no idea what is in store for us in the next few months. Change isn't bad, but it seems a lot of people are impatient for this to be declared the end of CoX.... it's not. The playing field is just different. We'll adapt.

Personally I have noticed I am starting to get a little claustrophobic staying in the AE building for too long- -regardless of mission content. I take that as a sign of a faltering honeymoon period, and with the upcoming anniversary shenanigans maybe we'll have some new stuff to play around with outside of MA.

Besides the game isn't ever "beat" at 50.. you just have lots of cool powers. I am sure a lot of the current farmers will soon consider trying PvP or eventually come back to regular content now that they don't feel so vulnerable.

Salvage prices? Is this a joke? You either get it as a drop and can sell it for a fortune or you can easily get tickets in non-farm AE stuff and get your own cheap.

I was listing stuff for 12 all weekend and people were still paying 50k or more when they didn't have to.

Salvage prices are not an issue to anyone who has a clue.

Techniquely, it's the not their game. They just pay rent to play it.

The question is will this go the way of the Winterlord.

Can't say that it won't cause harm because showing someone the easy/quick way tends to draw idiot players as easly as it draws genious players.

In the end... it depends on how much of a problem the developers see it being.

The MA isn't 'removing a vast majority of the population of players into farms.' The people farming now were the same people farming before the MA. They just had other ways of doing it. They can do it in a more condensed fashion now. The farmer population didn't grow, it just consolidated.

p1. Architect is removing players from the game.

CP: It's removing players from the section of the game you're defining as "the game" that want to engage in activities you do not want to engage in, in this case easy to farm missions.

S1: Join a non-farming SG and find friends.

p2: increasing the price of salvage

CP: Point of fact, it is not.

S: It is affecting the economy, surely, but salvage is blatantly easy to get through mission architect tickets, TFs, running normal missions yourself, or (heaven forbid) placing bids at WW/BM and waiting overnight.

p3 (my point): MA is making it stupidly easy to get tons and tons of inf for virtually no effort at the market.

Rights? Really? You think you have rights in the game? And other people are infringing upon them?

that has been his whole argument in every AE thread i have seen him post in. he doesn't realize that you can roll slavage all day long with the MA tickets. yes salvage went up for a bit, but if players would just pay what they want instead of paying what the last guy paid you wouldn't see such a high spike. in fact i did this with some of the common salvage to drive the prices back down to a somewhat reasonable lvl only to see that someone still paid like 500,000 for the same salvage. and what was funny was the last 5 prices were all under 20,000. so that leads to the speculation that the person trying to control that specific salvage was trying to re-raise the prices.

market prices should never be used to try to argue a point unless there is an absolute 1000% viable reason for it.

I do think that this game is in trouble if they dont figure a way to bring people back to doing reg mishes and teaming and not all AE stuff. The streets are bare now and u can find any level and most of the people in a zone in the AE. While i do think that some of the stuff is amazing and fun i have been pulled into easy leveling myself. My first 50 was nice to earn it but now you can get a 50 with nothing. I do think they need to look into this and maybe come up with something for both sides of the table.

There is absolutely no reason to ever pay an arm and a leg for salvage on the market anymore. If people are just too stupid to cash their tickets in for salvage then thats just their [censored] and its not anyone elses problem.

[/ QUOTE ] Not a valid reason at all. If that is what they want to do then you have to deal with it. If 99% of the population wants to farm and you are left without a single person to team with then that is your problem.
