How to trick the casual MA'er.

I'm glad our community is basically a nice one...because this thread proves we could be evil if we wanted to be.

Just leave your name boss in the regular custom group that spawns in the mission, and make him the only character in the custom group. Don't give him any chats.

Then the mission will make dozens of him that you will have to kill looking for the real one.

[/ QUOTE ]

For added fun make the named boss a Thugs/Illusion with both set to extreme, and at AV level. Nothing is more fun then getting crushed by Gang War and then getting confused so that the mobs don't attack you.

Zergling Swarm:
1) Create a custom enemy group that only contains one minion type. The minion can be anything, it really doesn't matter.
2) Set the mission map to something large and outdoor. City 02 works well, particularly with its spawn points.
3) Max out the number of "Protect" objectives. It doesn't matter if they're required or not, since custom critters suck at killing protect objectives. This is about swarming the player, not causing instafail
4) Make sure to max out the spawns around the objectives

I know for a fact that City 02, when given the max number of protect objectives, will often spawn multiple objectives on top of one another. I've seen up to 5 at the same X,Y,Z location (there may be others, but Cuty 02 is the only one I've tried). This means all 5 spawns surrounding the objective will be at the same spot. where it gets really juicy is that Protect Object objectives all have an ambush attached to them. With 1-5 objectives spawned at the same spot, while fighting 1-5 spawns worth of minions, you'll get 1-5 ambushes all spawning at the same time, for 2-10 spawns worth of enemies aggroed on you.

Bonus points for setting the difficulty to Tenacious or Unyielding (larger spawns) and for bringing an 8-man team. On a *THREE* person team, I've had enemies disappearing because the game had reached its entity draw limit (>100 entities on screen)

Bonus bonus points for bringing a Thugs MM; Arsonist's Fire Bomb doesn't have a target cap.

Just for lulz I did this, and the minion was an Extreme difficulty Thugs MM, so he had Gang War... This is what that looks like:
teehee

And this is what it looks like when you take a mob like that, pop some purples, drop tarpatch, hit Soul Drain and Aim, and then fire off Ice Storm and Blizzard...

How about this:

*) Pick the largest map you could possibly find.
*) Have a lead out objective that is placed in the back of the map. (Or worse, multiple copies of them.)
*) Give them Stone Armor (Rooted).

*winces*

Have 61 glowies to collect, each taking one minute to interact. Have the mish be timed at an hour.

A defeat all using nothing but the Arachnos Heat Seeking Drones. No XP just lots and lots of explosions.

Here's another mess with them:
Use a five story building type setup, then have collection objects each triggered by another, alternate front and back with the first one back and only the first and last are required for completion you'd have like 20 clickies but only 1 or 2 is showing on the status bar.

That way they have fought through the whole building and have their ticket count when they hit the first one, and won't want to lose their bonus. So for the next 18 it is still showing Find Last Clickie.

nice. But add an ambush of ninjitsu stalkers triggered to each. So you click, then get ambushed while going to find the others - that way you don't want to split up the team too much to search.

Either I've missed an important option, or ambushes don't work off of multiple versions of the same enemy. I'd like to be able to que 15 ambushes by killing 5 "bosses" that have 3 ambushes set to spawn when that boss loses health, but it just doesn't work that way.l

What I would do with 15 ambushes...

Posted

Number of ambushes WAS limited by map (different ones, different limits) except that defendable objects could also spawn ambushes (fairly heavily exploited on farm maps around). Of course, today's patch made the defendable objects' ambushes count against the ambush caps, but they did raise the max. amount to six.

Dec out.

[/ QUOTE ]Not on City 02. I played my test arc again today with it (using it to work on Virtual Slayer), and it was still working as it had been.

Amusingly, I noticed that sometimes the ambush will arrive and then not do anything. They won't even try to run out of my Arsonist's fire patches.

I've been collecting ways to trick and aggrevate the stupid casual Arc runner. No reason in particular, but here are some fun ways to invoke a RAGE QUIT!!!!1:

[/ QUOTE ]

Fixed that for you.
Because I'd probably have quit and 1-starred the arc right after entering the first mission.

Then I'd say mission accomplished! Does that make you casual or stupid casual?

Here is a little something I whipped up to see how evil I could get: Arc 73524 *Warning* You almost certainly WILL die if you try this arc

It sells itself as just another Freak farm, but after you release a hostage, a hard ambush of extreme Thug/Illusion minions and Thug/Kin Lt's attack without any dialogue.

I was wondering if it would be more evil to set ambushes to a boss. 3/4 health, 1/2 health, etc. Thoughts?

(edit: unpublished it. Looks like someone actually played it for real without realizing what it was... )

Set the Contact into the same group as the group your fighting. Set him to Ninja/FF both on extreme. Remove others from said group.(Yes i did this on accident, 5 Ninja/FF MM's in each group is not cool.)

So I'm considering trying to put together "Toony's High Blood Pressure Taskforce!" an arc that will be so annoying and make you so angry that if you don't scream out "THIS GUY IS A REAL JERK!" by the end of it, your money back.

I'll be borrowing some of the ideas from this thread, and would like any further suggestions on missions that would make one cry (not so much kill the player instafail, but along the lines of "Defeat all" mission blurb with a glowie called defeat all)

Posted

Another one I thought of: Pick a reasonable number of glowies, such as 8 crates. The mission display reads "8 crates." The player searches the first glowie and gets a message, "You recovered one of the crates!"

Only, the display still reads "8 crates." So they click on another. Still 8 crates. And another. It doesn't change! WTF! AARRGGH!

In the back is a boss named "8 crates".

Mission accomplished? No "RAGE QUIT" here, just a thin sigh and a "ok time to go find a GOOD mission instead" thought. If you think that's a win... well then enjoy your "win". You convinced someone your arcs are worthless, had them laugh at your weak attempt at the MA, and made them sure they should ignore anything under your global. Good job buddy!

I never get stressed out by a game. I have enough real life stress. When I enter a stupid mission by mistake, I leave as soon as I discover my mistake so I can go about enjoying my time in the game.

Is "APATHY QUIT!" a meme yet?

And not sure what you mean by "casual" but I am assuming from the context it means "non-farmer". Because I am anything but casual with any aspect of this game... but I have better things to do with my time than farm.

A small part of me wants to make a "Return of the Rikti Dolls!" arc now.

The catch?

The Rikti Doll faction contains the following:
Sappers
Knives of Artemis minions
Dark Ring Mistresses
Night Widows
Vanguard Sword Soldiers
Vanguard Sword Wizards
Rikti Comm Officers
Rikti Magus
The Swarm
And a custom critter of each rank as AR/Ninjitsu. Each will be set to spawn separately as bosses. Because an invisible AV with a perception boost a double damage bug from Ninjitsu and Sniper Rifle is just mean. Now try 5.

The map is an outdoor map.

That ought to keep anyone looking for Rikti Dolls to farm on their toes. Or rage quit.
