How to trick the casual MA'er.

I've been collecting ways to trick and aggrevate the casual Arc runner. No reason in particular, but here are some fun ways to invoke a RAGE QUIT!!!!1:

***Warning: Do not try these at home. They may result in angry tells or possibly death.***

1.) Large outdoor map with incredibly tough opponents. The nav bar reads, "Defeat all!". Somewhere on the map is a glowy named "Defeat all!".

2.) Cargo Ship map. The nav bar says "101 Desks to Search". Inform the player that *1* of these desks will end the mission. Set the interact timer on each desk to 60 seconds. At the very back of the ship, have a single enemy named "Desks to Search".

3.) Once again, very large outdoor map. Place high importance on not failing the mission. Then place Synapse as a required Boss that runs at full health. The chances of finding Synapse and stopping him are slim to none.

4.) Place a Contaminated as a captive. This forces the mission to level 1. Then put in a custom AV with lots of KB.

5.) Plant Control/Devices. Thorntrops + Caltrops. Go ahead, give it to your minions, Lts, and Bosses for extra flavor. For fun, try two powersets that both have confuse, or two powersets that both have total focus!

6.) Use the 5 minute timer on just about any map.

Any other ideas? If there was a badge for lowest rated arc, some of these would get it!

I Lol'ed, and then had to go do push-ups. Who knew you weren't supposed to look at this site on a government computer?

Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?

Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?

Those are brilliantly messed up.

The closest I could think of would be to have a boss that spawns an ambush of masterminds from every damage bar. And of course make that boss a minion, so he is very easy to one shot (thus triggering all the ambushes at once). But that is more abusive then sadistic...

I like it!

Also, outright lying to the player is fun. Tell them they will be fighting Freaks in an outdoor map, but then give them Malta and KoA inside of Oranbega.

The Nav bar is for wimps. Make all your objectives read "?". Let the player figure out what "9 ?" means.

Okay I think I've got a good one:

A kill all mission. Dot the map with the maximum number allowable of unguarded EB/AV Allies (so they are hard not to pick up) with Force Field set to Extreme. The player will spend the majority of the mission just waiting patiently for Detention Field to fade from the enemies.

For added fun, make it timed.

Oh, wow... that is win.

An entire custom villain group where every mob -- minions, lieutenants, bosses, EBs, and AVs -- is an XXX/Ninjutsu Stalker set to 'Extreme' on both primary and secondary. After all, nothing expands a full team's enjoyment of a mission more than getting hit with multiple Assassin Strikes. Over and over and over again.

I thought about making a mission where the Nav read "Defeat All" and when you enter the mission, the first critter you met was a minion called "All." Then have all the other minions behind him called "All" and make it a defeat-all anyway.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

A custom enemy's power should be inversely proportional to how good the name and costume are.

Example: A well-thought out enemy should be relatively weak.

An enemy in a pink tutu with fairy wings named "M1ST3R SPARKLE SMASH" should decimate any 8-man team.

ninja mastermind/storm lt's at extreme for both settings.illusion/trickarrow minions and a boss fire control/storm all set to invincible. That boss battle wil be very very ugly

Edit to make sure you use small maps to ensure the boss fight is in close 1/4's

Just leave your name boss in the regular custom group that spawns in the mission, and make him the only character in the custom group. Don't give him any chats.

Then the mission will make dozens of him that you will have to kill looking for the real one.

Good one! I forgot about that.

More glowy goodness...

Have 61 glowies to collect, each taking one minute to interact. Have the mish be timed at an hour.

Just to make sure a team doesn't try to be sneaky and split up to collect the glowies in time, put in a bunch of patrols with DoTs.

I made a mission in arc a talking to contact mission, no boss inside. or enemy inside. Then the mission Ally tells you to find a safe on a small map. Then I added like 10 trashcans that are searchable with a 10 second timer. They are not required, but people like to click glowies. When you click it, in the search it ask if your hungry. Then when your done, you tell yourself that was a waste of time. If I had room on the map, I should add an ambush with them yelling that is my sandwich.

I wanna do one with an EB/AV in the back, then fill it with ally patrols, so no other enemy's spawn. The EB/AV will say the same thing the patrol does and will look like one of the patrol characters. If the patrols do not take him out, before you get there, you may come across him unaware.

The other is to make all the characters look like, and do a where's Waldo mission.

Or have all your allies betray you at the door. Maybe rescue Freedom Phalanx and then tell you your not worthy, and proceed to kick your ....

My last one. For each object you destroy it respawns somewhere else in the mission and needs to be destroyed again. If you destroy the correct object the mission ends. So if you redo arc you may only have to destroy it 5 time, or in another run 20.

How about a mission full of destructible exploding objects, and an aggressive minion that you have to protect and lead to the door.

I know for a fact an Elite Boss with Force Field gets Detention Field on all levels. I think it's rank that determines if you get it, not difficultly.

Amusingly, Sonic Resonance does not get its Sonic Cage. Out of only FOUR powers.

Zergling Swarm:
1) Create a custom enemy group that only contains one minion type. The minion can be anything, it really doesn't matter.
2) Set the mission map to something large and outdoor. City 02 works well, particularly with its spawn points.
3) Max out the number of "Protect" objectives. It doesn't matter if they're required or not, since custom critters suck at killing protect objectives. This is about swarming the player, not causing instafail
4) Make sure to max out the spawns around the objectives

I know for a fact that City 02, when given the max number of protect objectives, will often spawn multiple objectives on top of one another. I've seen up to 5 at the same X,Y,Z location (there may be others, but Cuty 02 is the only one I've tried). This means all 5 spawns surrounding the objective will be at the same spot. where it gets really juicy is that Protect Object objectives all have an ambush attached to them. With 1-5 objectives spawned at the same spot, while fighting 1-5 spawns worth of minions, you'll get 1-5 ambushes all spawning at the same time, for 2-10 spawns worth of enemies aggroed on you.

Bonus points for setting the difficulty to Tenacious or Unyielding (larger spawns) and for bringing an 8-man team. On a *THREE* person team, I've had enemies disappearing because the game had reached its entity draw limit (>100 entities on screen)

Bonus bonus points for bringing a Thugs MM; Arsonist's Fire Bomb doesn't have a target cap.

Defeat All mission with lots of mobs and one guy in the back named Al that completes the mission.

Is it typo or did you do it on purpose?!

That's awsome ... all we need is an outdoor map that has the look of an alien landscape.

1. Create a custom group made up of nothing but Nem and Crey snipers.

2. Fill a large outdoor map with the maximum number of Boss objectives: a custom Illusion/Emp at Extreme.

3. Make the custom group the base spawn of the map, and the Boss's accompanying spawn.

There, you now have an outdoor map where you're guaranteed to aggro at least 10 spawns at once which contain at least EBs that are invisible and will spam you with PA and Phantasms and Terrors and will heal the snipers and even increase their Perception with Clear Mind. No stealthing this one. No herding (snipers are immobile).

Now this is a challenge I can get behind.

Outdoor map. Every spawn has a boss set to run at the lowest amount of minion deaths and damage. All of the minions and lieutenants have +speed powers like Accelerate Metabolism and Speed Boost.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
