Okay, my turn.

WALKING WITH DEMONS
Arc ID: 7000

Basically its an arc that attempts to take the popular trope of demons and put them in a more scientific light. As you go through the arc, you learn more about the biology and sociology of demons, and learn that even demons can be tricked.

[/ QUOTE ]

I loved the story! The settings for each mission matched perfectly. This could easily be 5 stars with some fixes.

Maybe it was me, but I didn't equate Arch-Demon with Arch-Villain. You may want to add some orange or red text warning players that the highest difficulty will spawn an AV.

1st Mission: Overall, very nice, just some small spelling errors and one of the helpers just took off running (might want to check his settings)

2nd Mission: I loved the map (what pack was that in?) Again, caught a couple of spelling and grammar mistakes. There was an extra click object on the mission, it must have taken 45-60 seconds to count down. It wasn't one that was needed. That was a bit annoying.

3rd mission: I like this map as well, but a lot will not. I never found all the click objects (thank goodness they were not mandatory) and didn't find the helpers. I don't remember if there were any misspellings on this one.

Last mission: Again, map fits the story, lost the contact to the ambush (had 2 spawn very close together). I was beating down the last EB (a Fire Tank of some sort) and got map served.

Over all, 4 stars (could be 5). I'd copy your longer text fields in to MS Word and run grammar and spell checker on them. Well going to log back in from the disconnect and try to complete that last mish again.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks! Ill fix the grammar and spelling mistakes shortly. I believe the second missions pack was from the extra COT map pack (vaults of mu is the name of the map). That extra long glowie you encountered just spawns an ambush of igneous. They have no purpose other than capping the mish at level 15.

Hey Yogi, could you read the first post please? This only rules for this thread to get feedback is to first give feedback on the last posted arc above you, and then choose ONE of your arcs to get reviewed.

ah... then I will find 2 to review

(not that the thread didn't get off track before I got here or anything)

****************************

Mission:

"Don't rain on my parade!"
Arc ID: 4754
Length: Short
Missions: 1
Genre: Humor

Description: Arachnos had staged a devious kidnapping to disrupt the 23rd annual Freedom Phalanx Parade! Do you have what it takes to save the day?

Was humorous and I liked that it wasn't a bear to handle. My only question is about the Faction setting; is it supposed to be at 'Neutral'?

It seemed to have a hero only feel to it... but I ran it with my villain.

*******************************
Arc: 'Small Fears'
Arc ID: 6528
Length: Medium
Missions: 3 (nothing major- medium is a fairly accurate description)

Description: No matter how happy your childhood, there are always a few corners of darkness, little pockets of black fear that every child knows. And now those shadows are expanding. Something is clawing out of the lost childhood of Paragon. Are you ready? Ready to confront the forgotten fears of the nursery?

((It's a horror-themed arc; I really have no idea why that popped out of my brain, but it did; feel free to absolutely savage it, since horror is way outside my normal purview, and it's open to question whether or not I have the faintest clue what I'm doing with it :/))

Just finished the first mish... liked the map (must be a heroside one; never seen it redside); like how you got the Urchin to pop in after freeing the other two kids... I would drop the last ambush that spawns once you've already finished the mission.

2nd mission mommy dearest was constantly handing me my behind... then I noticed she was an EB... you might want to put an ambush in (if you can fit it)... was able to stealth through the first part with no problem

3rd mission, totally kicking my butt; it's cool though. . . I will kick some

Really dug the spawns, maps and even the story... was a bit difficult at points... just had to get back into the groove in order to get through it. Even noticed your spawns 'upgraded' further into the arc.

Hokay. Here are some things you should be aware of.

First, not everybody's played the Malta Warburg mission, and thus does not expect to be able to click a door to get into the base. When everything's inside the base, this is a problem. Putting "inside the warehouse" or something in the mission objective text would help a lot with this.

Second, an Elite Boss with Confuse can keep it permanently applied. Poison doesn't exist as a set, either. Hmm. Maybe Plant Control, considering the enemies later on? That'll keep the confuse but it will be much shorter.

Third, double-stacked Web Grenades and Caltrops do a real number on movement speed. Is there a way you could give the initial group another Lieutenant?

Fourth, end boss warnings appreciated. He melted under the Shivan as long as I had his attention.

Lastly, the "required side objectives" really need some justification, at least for me. I'm there to stop a nuclear launch. I can understand punching the guy responsible in the head repeatedly, but why should I raid his fridge? (at first I thought it was the humorous response to "if you were a nuclear warhead, where would you be?") I'm in a base to cross-reference the sample I picked up with a computer - but if it's an alternate dimension, why should I care about some random poison pods? Or bother trying to take down the super-tough boss? I already have the information from the computer.

Even doing things just because a contact says so is a step up from doing things just because the game engine says so.

Anyway, here's my stuff.

This is really more of a showcase for a custom group. I spend a lot of time and effort creating these guys, and I hope you see that my effort shows. Unfortunately, being that there are twelve custom enemies in the group they take up far too much file space to be practical (just putting them in one mission took up almost 80% of my file space), I just don't have the heart to delete them though. Please enjoy this one off mission until file sizes are (hopefully) increased.

If you do critique this arc, critique it only for the enemy group, not the story or content of the missions.

((includes spoilers))

-mission 1 --> The Countess made an interesting character. I liked that she'd put herself in danger in order to assess your skills.

-mission 2 --> Something that I found odd was that the triggered hostage spawns were untargetable until they were aggroed. I wasn't sure if that was a setting that I didn't know about (and there are many of them) or a bug?

-mission 3 --> I liked this, the Countess kind of overruling the government for her own agenda - she reminds me a bit of a medieval Countess Crey.

For the third and fourth missions, I thought that 6 glowies might be a little much. If there are x number of clues, there isn't really a need for the excess glowies, in my opinion.

-mission 4 --> I was a little puzzled by parts of this. It made sense, and I enjoyed it, in reference to the whole newspaper job line, but I really wasn't sure what the Duchess was talking about with lines like, "step aside and let me shine," "glorious production," I'm not sure what she was referencing. She also mentions, "The Comt," who had never been mentioned and I didn't know who she was talking about, but then even the contact only sort of alluded to him.

-mission 5 --> This mission seemed to continue from the first better than the other ones. While the others gave the impression that you were being tested without explicitly saying so, I liked that this kind of pulled it all together.

Overall, I really enjoyed that "this is what you're doing" *winkwink* feel of the arc, it made me giggle. The only thing is, though, that it kind of felt like, literally, a bunch of newspaper missions. Out of 2,3,4, 3 was the only one that seemed to have any connection to the Countess story, even though, as I said before, it was alluded to that she was keeping an eye on you and your abilities.

Your custom group can hit pretty hard! I was on my blaster, whose only form of crowd control is holds, and the mez protection made them a bit of a challenge since I'm so used to just mezzing lieuts and bosses - once I adjusted I didn't have a problem with them though.

4 stars

The only spelling mistake I caught was:
-Mission 3, clue: "Experimental Medicine": "the egg heads get"

Arc Name: The Pale Horizon
Arc ID: 6859
Faction: Hero
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Lovelife (I think that it has Like Flames as the creator.)
Difficulty Level: medium - I found it easy on heroic solo, but cranking the difficulty can make some of the mobs pretty nasty. I haven't done a team run with bosses, but they may be a bit of a challenge if they work how I mean them to!
Synopsis: A new villain group has been amassing magical artifacts and you need to look into it before it gets out of hand.
Estimated Time to Play: Stealthing 3/4 missions solo, it took me about 15 minutes. There is only one defeat all (on a small map) and the others are on medium maps with an objective at the end.

I just published it the other day after working on it for only a few hours, so there is almost definitely room for improvement. I haven't had a chance for extensive testing, just a few runs through solo, so I never encountered one of my custom bosses, so I'm hoping that they work out fine! Overall, I like how it turned out.

The first thing I noticed is that the contact talks to me like she knows me. What the heck, man! Is it too much to ask for an introduction? :P

The glowie in the first mission gave me nothing; no system text, no clue, not even text in the progress bar. So I don't know what to make of it. Since the only other goal in the mission was to beat all the enemies, for all I knew I was going into an abandoned office and smacking around some squatters because they were there. Also, at the end of the mission I get some papers for a clue, but no mention as to whether it was on the enemies or lying around or a previous tenant's grocery list or what. That could use some clarification, and maybe a boss to drop it.

The clue at the end of the third mission just cuts off without finishing. It goes "Em said that she took the necklace when she". When she what? Come on, don't leave me hanging!

By the fourth mission I realized I didn't really know much at all about the Pale Sun. I gathered that they somehow distributed magical energy throughout their ranks, but they didn't seem to have any motivation. For all I know they could've intended to bring water to orphans in Africa. They did take that woman's necklace, but there was only a brief mention at the very end why it was special. That's one of the challenges in making believable characters; they need to have motivations, personalities.

The Contessa puts herself in danger for the hell of it, most times. Though I wonder if she can even die on that map, I definitely took it into account.

Yeah, the first hostage spawns in the third mission actually had no intro dialog and a hostile hostage for somebody else. I'm betting that's just weirdness with the engine.

3 for both, then?

As far as "overruling the government" goes? In her nation, the Contessa IS the government. But some people become dissatisfied with the things she does, so you get things like mission 3. I figured I'd made that clear enough, where should I work it in?

The Comte (translated "Count") is the other half of Their Excellencies. He had invited the Carnies over because they're actually Italian nobility, but they decided to take over the hotel, and "the Duchess" was looking forward to having an unspeakably rich nobleman as a personal servant.

And you walked allll over that dream.

Maybe I should talk about him more in previous missions, but where should I put him in?

Would you believe that's what I was going for? The arc was intended as a quick flyover of Bravura: a tiny nation with a mystic past, high technology, rebel factions, a perhaps undue respect for nobility, and a Contessa who pulls whatever crazy crap she wants to.

(my inspiration begins with "L" and ends with "atveria")

Glad you had a good time, I wanted to make something more light-hearted after Dream Paper.

It's a shame you are currently unable to expand this out into a fuller arc. I would like to learn more about your critters, their background and goals. Creepy little punks though.

All in all it looks like you've created a balanced and playable enemy group. Some of the costumes are really nice (I like the claws the best I think, but mainly due to the coloring). Some of the dialog may not need to be in all caps.

One thing you may consider, which I've done myself with my own custom group, is to tone down on anything non-standard in the costumes. Use auras, capes, wings and other unlockable costume pieces sparingly. I did that with Lord Voltor's Soldiers and found I can definitely pull all the full 5 mish arc I have planned.

Arc ID 10000? Nice.

This was an extremely fun arc! I must say you've done an excellent job on the costumes as I was able to recognize most of them without the dialog. Although I could help but laugh when they guy dressed as Drizzt handed my dual blade tanker his swords!

As a mission, it's a wonderful one-off and great for either bashing away at a bunch of clocks, or checking out some creative attempts to recreate costumes of popular characters. The only downside, at least to me, is that it ran on and on endlessly while I searched for TWELVE!!! hostages. That's a lot. It's worth it to show off the costumes, but.... dang that's a lot for one mission.

I've hammered out a good deal of changes, that I think you'll be pleased with, unfortunately.. I wasn't able to publish it before the server maintenance hit.. so that will have to wait until later today.

[u]Expect these changes[u]

- Global -
* Massive overhaul of the Dialogue.
* As requested, added another lieut, to prevent the old ones from stacking too much nasty at once.
* Changed to a three part mission arc (added a plot builder as the first mission, others moved up a slot).

- Part 2 -
* Added an additional boss to the second mission, defeating him or letting him escape has no affect on the out come of the mission.
* Added notes about having to investigate the warehouse.
* Made it clear that the elite boss uses Mind Control.

- Part 3 -
* Added hostage rescue to the third mission.
* Changed the Pod Destruction to optional.
* Also made the insane boss fight optional.

Couple things I'm still having trouble with,
Mission 2 - On the Warburg map, the center room of the warehouse appears to be wasted (nothing spawns in there EVER). This causes the destructible items to spawn outside of the warehouse, which just annoys me.
Mission 3 - Even though I have chosen to have the EB spawn in the back, he always spawns in the hall of a large room instead of in the room itself (very annoying). My desired result would be that he spawns inside the room, out of the way of glowies, so that you don't have to fight him if you don't want to. I'm afraid, if I can't figure this out.. I'm going to have to do that thing I REALLY don't want to do.. and turn his difficulty down.

On a side note - Devs, you made the Mission Architect too darn addictive.

-- Spoiler Alert Below --

I ran it once under a test and it played out almost exactly how I wanted it to, though I am still experiencing one minor annoyance, the custom text I am trying to add to the Snake Eggs doesn't seem to want to stick. Other than that, the insanely hard boss can be avoided altogether if you save the dirt mound for the last objective.

The first thing I noticed is that the contact talks to me like she knows me. What the heck, man! Is it too much to ask for an introduction? :P

[/ QUOTE ]

I guess that is true, I'll work on that!

[ QUOTE ]
The glowie in the first mission gave me nothing; no system text, no clue, not even text in the progress bar. So I don't know what to make of it. Since the only other goal in the mission was to beat all the enemies, for all I knew I was going into an abandoned office and smacking around some squatters because they were there. Also, at the end of the mission I get some papers for a clue, but no mention as to whether it was on the enemies or lying around or a previous tenant's grocery list or what. That could use some clarification, and maybe a boss to drop it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh noes, haha. I didn't even realize, I must have put the clue in the wrong spot. It was supposed to be found at the glowie >.<

[ QUOTE ]
The clue at the end of the third mission just cuts off without finishing. It goes "Em said that she took the necklace when she". When she what? Come on, don't leave me hanging!

[/ QUOTE ]

I had all of this written out in word, so that must have been a copy/paste error that I didn't catch.
edit: ah, I had hit the 300 word cap editing time!

[ QUOTE ]

By the fourth mission I realized I didn't really know much at all about the Pale Sun. I gathered that they somehow distributed magical energy throughout their ranks, but they didn't seem to have any motivation. For all I know they could've intended to bring water to orphans in Africa. They did take that woman's necklace, but there was only a brief mention at the very end why it was special. That's one of the challenges in making believable characters; they need to have motivations, personalities.

[/ QUOTE ]

I had a lot more written, but going through I felt like it was just a lot of reading, although, in hindsight, I guess it was important reading!

Thanks for your help! I'll go review it again later on today

3 for both, then?

[/ QUOTE ]

That's what I was thinking. It might be a personal thing, I just don't like having that many glowies if there aren't clues with them. I guess it could give it a more epicish feel, like you're stealing a lot of stuff from the lab, which would work too

[ QUOTE ]
Maybe I should talk about him more in previous missions, but where should I put him in?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure, but maybe in the beginning when the contact is talking about the Contessa (sorry when I was writing the review for some reason Countess came out :P) throw in a sentence mentioning him.
It is kind of easy to confuse me sometimes, though, so it probably isn't a big deal.

[ QUOTE ]
Would you believe that's what I was going for?

[/ QUOTE ]

Haha, yes! I figured that that was the point, and I thought that it was well done

Wow, this thread got buried pretty fast. Anyway, I made this arc a while ago but only recently got some friends to run it to get their feedback on it. I think it's ready to be critiqued by the people in this thread.

Arc Name: Soldiers of Fortune
Arc ID: 8119
Faction: Villainous
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Mekkanos
Difficulty Level: Medium (Involves a custom villain group that is balanced for the middle levels and a slightly difficult Arch-Villain towards the end)
Synopsis: Battle two ruthless mercenary groups for an ancient item of power with the help of some unusual allies! Ideal for people in the 30-35 range.
Estimated Time to Play: About an hour or two, depending on how fast you go through the missions. None are defeat all.

So far, the people who have run it loved it, so I'm hoping you feel the same! Also, please try to be careful about spoilers. This one has a few interesting twists and, as the description suggests, some unusual allies.

The story itself was actually pretty good. 5/5 there. The only thing I didn't like is that you weren't kidding. It was long. However, no Defeat Alls and most of them could be ghosted, so yeah, it's good. I typically cannot be at the computer for extended periods of time.

Here are some bugs I picked up.

Messed up Title.

Mission 1:
Hellraiser Sykes belongs to All Custom Characters Villian Group

Mission 2:
Mission Intro for Second Mission "Steal the Eye". "Paragon Police are barely able to keep this battle from spilling out into other are of the city." I guess it should be "area".
Hellraiser Trask belongs to All Custom Characters Villian Group and surrounded by allied Sky Raiders

Mission 3:
Good.

Mission 4:
Hellraiser Shepherd belongs to All Custom Characters Villian Group
"Finally. I thought we'd never get rid of HeroAdjective." in defeating a Rularuu.

Mission 5:
Typo in second paragraph mission briefing.
Hellraiser Freeman belongs to All Custome Characters Villian Group.
Any problem can be solved with Trip Mines and End Drain. Not necessarily a bug, but always nice.

Might as well post mine.

Estimated Time to Play: About 30 minutes to an hour. First Mission is Defeat All. Second Mission is Defeat Bosses.

Man, that was *brutal*. I really like the variety you've got going on with the group, but the combination of debuffs they've got meant I died at least once every other group, and that's on the lowest setting on my DA scrapper (Tar Patch plus the already devastating DM/Nin minions absolutely murdered me). I think if you toned down the difficulty of the debuff sets, it'd be much better.

Otherwise, it's nice. The design of the enemies are really cool, and I'd like to see them more.

Since I've made some pretty big tweaks to it, I'm resubmitting my arc.

Arc Name: If At First You Don't Succeed
Arc ID: 2894
Faction: Hero
Creator Global: @Recharged
Difficulty Level: Low to Medium (the two custom bosses can hit hard, but the rest is standard enemy groups)
Synopsis: A routine mission to stop an Arachnos thief uncovers a mad plot to cripple Paragon City!
Estimated Time to Play: 30 minutes to an hour. Five missions, but none too long, and only one Defeat All

We'll always have Paragon.

All right. Will tone down the debuffs or the damage a bit after work. *looks at clock* See you in 12 hours.

Thanks for playing my arc! Glad you enjoyed it! Anyway, I've fixed the bugs that you pointed out (Most of which were introduced by this latest patch) except for the HeroAdjective one. He's supposed to say "I thought we'd never get rid of him/her" depending on your gender but apparently, if it's an NPC he defeats, it doesn't say either one and just says HeroAdjective instead. That's a bug with $himher that is unrelated to my arc, sadly. Also, the title being messed up is happening with all arcs that have spaces in their names, as far as I know.

Anyway, since you went through the trouble of running my arc, I figure I can return the favor by running yours.

Starting up:
In the description, after "They are requesting assistance", it says <br><br>. I assume this was to signify pressing Enter twice but I don't think those work in Architect descriptions.

Mission 1:
Briefing:
<ul type="square">[*]Typo in the first sentence of the second paragraph of the briefing. It should be "I need some help" instead of just "need some help." [*]In the "shiny Crey building" sentence of the send off dialog, the scientists are referred to as "started." I'd recommend changing this to startled or even shaken. [*]Again, in the send off dialogue, the sentence " Oh by the way, not that you need to, but a little back-up may be helpful." is a little awkward. I'd recommend changing it to " Oh, by the way,you may not need it, but a little back-up may be helpful." or " Oh, by the way, a little back-up may be helpful... not that you need it."[*]The last sentence says "it will record the the source of Rift's coordinates." The two "the's" are a typo and I would recommend changing Rift to "the Rift" because I don't think the dimensional rift is actually called Rift. (That's actually a cool name for a villain, though)
Contents
<ul type="square">[*]Really creepy custom enemies. Great work on them! The Minions of Apathy are absurdly powerful, though, taking away most of my health in one hit. Keep in mind that these things are MINIONS, which means there could be several of them in a group. This may be an issue with Ninjitsu in general, though. I've noticed every enemy that has Ninjitsu at the moment does absurd damage, perhaps because they're always critical hitting.[*]The Minions of Greed have a typo in their bios. It says "...standing in their way, by stealing their abilities." I don't think that comma should be there. The Minions of Apathy have a similar typo in their bios, "...of people in general, and exploit when necessary." Again, I don't think that comma should be there and I believe that "exploit when necessary" should probably be "exploit that fact when necessary."[*]The clue when you close the portal says "... where a large battle between the forces of Decay and some other group." I think it should probably be "you saw (Or observed, if you prefer) a large battle.."[*]The mission complete clue says " The Officer of Fear before he melted into a pile of goo..." It should probably be "The Officer of Fear said before he melted into a pile of goo..."
Debriefing:
Quite good. No problems that I could see.

Mission 2:
Briefing:
No problems that I noticed.
Content:
<ul type="square">[*]Maybe this is just because of all the bosses in this mission but it seems like this group uses confuse excessively. I can live with all the slows but when practically every group confuses me, it's getting impossible to actually attack anything, especially with all the slows on top of that. I was able to defeat most of the bosses on the map regardless but once I got to the Officers of Apathy and got one-shotted by their energy transfer at full health, I gave up out of frustration.
Misc:
<ul type="square">[*]Besides what I've said already, I'll definitely say that the group definitely needs to be toned down a lot. The worst offenders are the Minions and Officers of Apathy, which I've previously mentioned. In particular, the Officers' energy transfer one-shots me without fail, doing 3576 energy damage along with 1859 smashing damage when my scrapper only has 1338 HP. The excessive debuffs from the other enemies need to be looked at as well. Debuffs are good and make for an interesting group but you have to remember that too many can render a player character helpless. They are, however, a really well designed group with a lot of diversity! Once they're toned down, they should make interesting opponents.[*]All of the scripted bosses (Such as the ones you need to defeat in the second mission) are currently in the faction "All Custom Characters" similar to mine.
Hope that helps! This arc has a lot of potential and once the enemy group is toned down, I'd definitely like to see more arcs featuring them. Decay, although we haven't heard much about him, at least appears to be a formidable foe.

I need more heavy critique... Seriously. Pick apart my story at every chance you get.

Arc ID: 10191
Faction: Either, but it's more written from a heroic point of view.
Difficulty: 2 EBs (One is optional.) and 1 AV/EB. Villian group power is moderate to light.

Be sure to clear the map a bit and find the hidden side missions. They give you some clues and some more info of the story and such.

Here's my first

Arc Name: The Girls
Arc ID: 14434
Faction: The Girls, Longbow, Orphans
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Dz/Dz131
Difficulty Level: Hard (1 AV, multiple EBs, loads of ambushes and patrols. A few allied heroes.)

Synopsis: The Longbow have got their hands on something special. It's original owners are making every effort to see it destroyed to avoid it falling into the wrong hands. Who are the people you're working for? And why are they so desperate to keep their secret?

Estimated Time to Play: ~1hr-1.5hr (4 missions. 3 Short 1 Long)

Made for Villians. Involves cold blooded murder + beating up kids. It lacks forclosure :P run out of space, so I guess I'll make different arcs.
