If each of the "Boys" go double-assault on a 8-soldier team, that's a whooping total of 240% damage. Almost two build-ups and a half. That's what amazes me the most about SoA teaming possibilities.

Here is why.. Everyone who loves villains has done the content 5 ten 20 40 times all the way through already...

So they go back to Heroes.. Because atleast with Heroes there is CHOICE in how to level up. VILLAINS HAS NO CHOICE.

Seriously now, shouting at the devs, “WHERE IS MY VILLAIN CONTENT?” isn’t going to actually get you villain content. CoV is an add-on to the CoH universe. That’s just something you need to come to terms with. New zones from this point on are going to be for both sides. Look at the RWZ and Ourobrous and Cimerora and see the future. New villain-only zones are highly unlikely in the future because villain players are a much smaller population. Shouting about it won’t change that fact, nor will it change the clear business decisions that imbalance makes necessary.

(Caveat: This is a prediction that could, of course, be wrong. But given what we’ve seen over the last year and the hints dropped by that market survey, I feel confident about it.)

If you want more villain-only content, then you’re going to be getting the bloody tools to write it yourself.

Heroes don't really need any new zones. Like I said before on hero side, there are still zones and contacts I have never seen or spoken to in 4 years of playing this game.

Villains side, I've exsperienced everything... 5 times. Villains are the ones lacking in the content department.

And oddly enough... the number of villan players is much smaller than hero players.

So the devs could spend their time creating more content for the smaller segment of the player base... or they could spend their time creating content for the larger segment of the player base... or they could spend their time creating content for both segments simultaneously...

I'm psyched about this issue, especially the freakin amazing mission making. I never thought they'd come out with that. Speaking of which, I'm wondering about a few questions regarding the setup; just a few quick questions about it: will we be able to place NPCs of any faction in wherver we want doing a variety of emotes, type exactly what we want them to chatter about at certain times like aggro or on defeat and what-not, can we name main named bosses, can we choose any previous mission environment, and can we use like the character creator to make original NPCs? Also, can we make story arcs with actual contacts somewhere or, I'm not sure how that would work but I'm already scripting a story arc so I'm hoping we can make arcs of our own. This is gonna be great! =P

This is what I'm wondering as well. I am sure we'll get more info soon because there is that convention in Seattle and some of the DEVS should be dropping more news.

Anyway, I don't know why they didn't add more info about the mish creator (namelt the questions asked by the post I quoted). If you get to create your own NPCs via the costume creator then that would truly rock. I am assuming we can use any of the mission tile sets. Anyway, without more details it is impossible to say how good this issue is. I really don't think anyone can pass judgement yet.

well, I certainly DON'T want CoX to be like other MMO's but I take issue with swords, shields, and other "medieval" things being "un-super". There is a LONG history of Superheroes using these items in modern times.

Wolverine, on occassion

the list goes on and on. I get tired of hearing this arguement that CoX is getting too much like *insert name of fantasy based MMO here*, because it's just not true.

I also believe that it's a slap in the face to comic tradition and to people who love these characters to say medieval weapons are "un-super".

Again, I agree. There's no reason to believe that, just because "omg sheildz r teh midevil", that makes their powersets any less super-powered. Let's at least wait until the powersets are revealed before jumping to such conclusions, ne?

And given the number of people I've seen salivating over the shields powersets being released, I honestly don't believe the outcry of a few naysayers is going to stop this plan in its tracks. And if it does, then we *will* be getting more like other MMOs. Which will be a desperate sadness, imo.

well as wonderful as this is, more and moe we need a offline MANUAL, look how much more complicated the last half dozen issue have made the game, while it is maybe ok to ue the other players asa resource and or 3nd party web sites that can be filled with misinformation, how about a official manual?

i'm sure all the software products that the DEVS use don't come with one page sheet saying here got o these users sites,or go to this party line and ask questons.

they dont even have to go and back do preivious issues ,just start with this one. I understand they have had a really really small work force til now. but that could be fixed. either by low wage interns or co-ops,after all isnt this pack selling,respec selling or in game advertising generating them money?

To reply to both misconceptions at once:

The phrasing was "red side only content", not "red side only zone". If it was zone, the correct answer would be no, there was no red-only zone added with 12. In fact, the last zone (correct me if I'm wrong, as I might actually be) that was added for red *only* was G'ville.

However, under the concept of "red side only content"... why yes, as I recall, that's the update that added VEATs. And VEAT missions.

There. Misunderstandings (and mischief) managed.

THANK YOU!!. I agree whole heartedly with you. Here are a few more you can add to that list: Swordmaster, Taskmaster, Deathstroke, Nightcrawler ( a swahbuckling master), Captain Boomarang, Thor, Members of The Hand, Stick (trainner for Daredevil), Deadpool, Daredevil (batons), Green Arrow, Hawkeye (yes bows are "primitive" weapons), Captain America and many others use these "medieval" weapons.
And in refference to the person complaining about the large number of Captain America ripoffs we'll have, what about claws? There have been and continue to be occassional wolverine toon sightings around paragon. Just because a power is used by a popular comic character does not mean that that is the ONLY version that people will create. From what I have seen over the years......... there is a LOT of creative folks playing the game. .

I think I've figured out why I'm so underwhelmed by this announcement.

Since the release of i12, all the devs have been letting us know that they're working on UBER L33T STUFF that will be both TOP SECRET and HIGHLY AWESOME.

Only to find out that we're getting:

Shields: Known about this for a good long while. Even the newsies in Paragon know this, and let's just say they're not always ahead of the curve.

Mission Creator: This was announced a long while back, too.

Day Jobs: Happen offline. Minimal rewards. Require paying attention to where you logout. I can tell you right now that the odds of me getting these badges is going to be purely coincidental. *and I consider myself a moderate roleplayer that takes my character themes seriously*

Cimerora: Uhhh, hate to admit this... I haven't been there yet.

Basically, nothing exciting that blew me away, a bunch of old news, and some zone stuff I probably won't use anyway. I wouldn't mind, it seems like a solid issue... but the devs have been telling us for 2 months it's going to be the BEST ISSUE EVER.

I'm more excited about the cyborg thing.

when are heroes going to get access to the Golden Gizza?

ok, so the point is, why should anyone, red or blue side, have access to the other side?

Villains have their own exclusive zones that Heroes can't access and Heroes have their own exclusive zones that Villains can't access. I don't understand this DEMAND from one side or the other to have access to one zone from the other side.

Ah, the question I've been waiting for someone else to ask.

Yes, when? The best I've seen for a timeline is a tentative January-ish for live I13. Do we have any timeline? Is it in closed now? Open? On the moon (perhaps being tested in the fabled moonbase of survey lore)?

I know these things take time, I know patience is a virtue (and as my MM's chatbind reads, lack of patience is also a sin). Just a hint of a tentative maybe date/timeframe would make me happy. (Granted, I understand if the devs are reluctant to release anything more promising than "We'll get it to you when we get it to you"... I've seen people cry for blood when a tentative date is changed. But still... PM it to me, I won't tell, and I don't get all vengeful if it changes... promise. ^.~)

Golden Giza ZONE? Don't recall any of those. The Shadow Shard is another dimension, in case you didn't know. There's no reason the Villains couldn't have their OWN "Zulu base" type zone.

My Mastermind acted purely out of self-interest - he couldn't care less which oppressive totalitarian despot was or wasn't in charge - but Romulus' rule threatened the existance of metapowers (and thus, my character himself) in the "future", whereas Imperious' rule did not. Ergo, put the crown on the head of the guy that doesn't present a threat ...? Sure, sign me up.
