I also want to reply here with some additional information to head off some of the inevitable questions that may come up:

First, about the Freakshow Boss special costume codes; we know that not everyone will like that we are doing this. Only 1,000 of these codes will be given out at Comic Con, so as such, not everyone who wants one will be able to get one (not to mention those players who’d love to have one but are not able to attend this year’s Comic Con). However, everyone will have the opportunity to become a Freakshow Boss (and many more costumes) with this year’s coming Halloween Event.

Secondly, about the FREEM! T-shirts. We know that our current PlayNC Online Store is a digital store only. As such, we don’t make physical goods (such as t-shirts) available. We understand that there is a desire for such items and have passed that feedback along.

Lastly, we’re very excited for this year’s Comic Con, as well as our presence at the coming Penny Arcade Expo and the City of Heroes Hero Con. Oh, and on the subject of trade shows, we also have heard your previous feedback about the desire for the City of Heroes team to be more available at a wider array of shows (such as shows on the East Coast). Of course, we can’t accommodate everyone, but we do want to let you know that we’ve heard you and passed that feedback along to our management.

As always, thanks very much for your continued interest, patronage and support!

What happens at Halloween? I started CoX in Jan 2008 and missed the event. Do we get these costumes? Are they permanent? Do we could new permanent costume pieces?

Anyone that goes to preview tonight, or if LH can chime in and let me know what the Booth number is this year?

Would appreciate it.

Thanks!

I'd like to welcome you all to San Diego. I, unfortunately, will only be attending Comic Con on Sunday this year because I foolishly didn't buy my pass 4 months ago.

Do yourselves a favor and find the nearest Mexican food place (note: Taco Bell and Del Taco are not Mexican food places) and order Carne Asada fries and a large Horchata. Gluttony never felt so good.

If you are coming to the 2008 Comc-Con International in San Diego, running from July 23rd to July 27th, be sure to stop by the NCsoft Booth #5209 in Hall G. If you need a reason to do so, here are a few!

Welcome to San Diego. Now remember there are two huge naval bases here so a lot of us military guys live in San Diego. Dont be afraid to say hello because a lot of us military types are some of the only friendly strangers you might come across during your stay.

From IGN.com SDCC coverage:

"Issue #13 is the last one for 2008. In it heroes or villains will discover the ability to create user-generated missions to further extend the life of one of today's most popular MMOs."

I kind of understand why they would do that.

*rolleyes*

Not really, it's item is for people who are at the con and play the game. It also ties into an event for Saturday, IIRC.

If your friend is their Sunday, have him try then, but don't get upset because they are giving out with the intent that con-going Co* players be the receivers.

July 24, 2008 - It's been more than four years since version 1.0 of City of Heroes launched. Many changes have been made to the heralded game, most notable in Issue #12 when the ability for players to make both Heroes and Villains was unlocked. That meant that players who bought City of Heroes could create Villains of their own and those who bought City of Villains could do the same. The Issue #13 expansion takes that a bit further.

At San Diego Comic-Con I was given a peek at what Issue #13 will bring to MMO fanatics aside from the standard set of fixes and updates. First of all, it's free. It's one of three free content packages that players get to download every year and Issue #13 is the last one for 2008. In it heroes or villains will discover the ability to create user-generated missions to further extend the life of one of today's most popular MMOs.

What does this mean exactly? Essentially players will get to craft their own storylines complete with custom dialogue and characters that can include other non AI-controlled players in the universe. While your adversaries will always need to be a set number of baddies from the standard stable of foes, what they're doing, what you do to stop them, who you work with and the impact that has on the world around you is entirely up to your design.

There was no demo on-hand to give us a look at how this could play out in City of Heroes, but the promise of user-created missions is enticing to say the least. Along with that, Issue #13 will include further proliferation of powers between heroes and villains, beyond what was seen from Issue #12.

We'll have more on Issue #13 as it nears its fall 2008 release.

Aside from the two glaring errors (1- CoV launched with issue #6 not issue #12, and let's face it, 99% of the fanbase has had both games, so the ability to create cross faction characters is not exactly a new thing and, 2- if this is the last issue for the year, then we're not getting THREE issues this year) in this article, the article really doesn't say anything.

Kinda reminds me of that guy, "Hollywood From the Outside" who does the movie coverage for "The Onion"...not very credible, even if he DOES have new information.

There may onely be one error and it's a very minor one. They didn't say CoV released with I12, that said that both sides were unoocked for everyone with issue 12 (so if you own one you now own both). The error is that came AFTER I12 not with I12.

The second error may not be an error at all. The Devs have said they want 3 issues per year, that is a fact IGN got correct. I13 may also be the last one for this year, so that could also be factual. Basically, the Devs could be breaking with thier "three issues a year" statement in this case (for reasons unknown likely related to I12 hitting in May and I13 being rather large so it will be filled with bugs that need hammering out before it hit live taking up more time).

There's also the fact they didn't demo it at a massive Con. That could be because it doesn't work yet (meaning there's still a while before closed beta) or they simply don't want to show it yet.
