god i wish this was an option a person could enable,i would love to play on adam west batman mode.
We currently have this to a small, unobstrusive degree in the game with the "Critical Strike!", "Vital Strike!", "Avoided", "Assassins Strike", etc. It might be cool to add it as a toggle using the same un-obtrusive way it works now for the other floaties for those folks who might like it, with sound of course. But maybe un-obtrusive would defeat the purpose of something that is supposed to be dramatic in the first place. Eh, my two cents.
Yes I know it was an April Fools, and a very funny one at that, but I thought I'd chime in on the concept.
This is without doubt the dumbest idea ever perpetrated. Comic book writers had no choice, they had no sound option to work with and now even though you have sound you want to return to the dark ages and have no sound to save hard drive space! You've got to be kidding, that is the lamest marketing ploy I have ever heard. If someone is foolish enough to build a computer with no sound they don't play games anyway. There is nothing that has the faintest trace of truth in anything you have said about this abysmally absurd idea. Scrap it now before you drive people away! This is just plain dumb! dumb! DUMB!

oh, thank god. how stupid do I feel that I actually fell for it. duh.
that being said, I think it would make a great option. not a requirement, but an option you can turn off or on.
What about the self comp builders that forget to put in a video card? Don't they get anything? Devs hate soundcards!
This joke has really shown the sad truth of so many of the people on these forums.

I really like the sound FX.
I don't mind having the visuals as an additional option, but to remove the existing sounds...please, no! STOP THE MADNESS!
Why get rid of something that works?
Can't it be set up so we have the option of having the Sound FX, having the Visual FX, or having both FX packages downloaded onto our harddrives if we want?
I have plenty of room for both!
If someone doesn't want one or the other, let them choose which to keep!
Please. Please. It will ruin part of my immersion factor if you take them away now!
If it's an April Fools joke, then good on you. I'll be that FOOL for a game that I love and sound effects that rock!
would they take the time to edit those screenshots and type in all of the info for a joke... if they did i think the development team has better things to do than to be spending an hour or 2 of their time creating this joke. i would be surprised if play nc would allow their employee's to slack off and create this for no reason at all.
dont get me wrong, its funny and all if it is an april fools joke, i dont wanna sound like i cant take a joke, but if its not and april fools joke, im canceling my account... pointless screen clutter and no sound is a gamebreaker for me...
this reminds me of SWG, [censored] idea destroys an awsome game.
Age of Conan wont be able to come out any sooner now that this game is broken if this isn't a joke.

well if they are eliminating sounds from teh game its not really optional... even you know you can turn the visuals off you cant get the sounds back. I think its a joke, but once again, they may have pulled an SOE.

This actually isn't a bad idea for me. I haven't played with the sound on in over 3 years.
I like to play the game and watch t.v., or listen to music.
I honestly don't remember any of the sounds from the game.
LOL, one exception, I remember that wonderful industrial carnival music from that area of Crey's with the Freakshow.
i would really be depressed if this were true, the sound is a primary stimulus that helps to make the game addictive. if they curb my addiction i probably would not play. adding the words would be cool if it happened ...... but to remove the sound would be devastating. man i HOPE this IS A JOKE
because i have no other addictions ...... i'll go insane ...... the only thing i will have left will be to spend time with my family ............ ewwwwww ....... who wants to do that!!!!
