My hearing's fine, but I /sign this with every fiber of my being. Deaf people deserve to have glowie assistance that's as useful to them as the audio cues are to those of us who can hear.

Simple to implement, practical use of code.
We love Devs who love their players. Including the ones who can't hear. -
I have read all 14 pages of the thread and I'm feeling a little dizzy. Thank you Plasma for the write up.
As a base builder I have many of the same concerns, complaints and questions as everyone. But I wanted to address one thing:
We keep mentioning that IO salvage drops will not be increasing, while the demand for them will. I imagine that many people will be untilizing the Day Job "Scholar" to increase their salvage drops. If this happens on a large enough scale, perhaps it could help the situation a bit.
Also, with the Merit system in place, fewer people will be willing to pay tens of millions for one item, since they can do a few TF's and just get it for 'free'. Perhaps this will also force the market to keep it's prices reasonable, and help to aleviate the demand > supply.
Just trying to see a light in the tunnel. -

As odd as this may sound, I don't see why hard-core badgers should have a monopoly on how new badges are introduced into the game. The badge mini game is there for all of us, not just you. Badges from the day job mini game may favor the casuals and/or altaholics, but it doesn't exclude the hard-core badgers. It may take longer than you like and acquiring the badge may be unsatisfying for you, but there's nothing preventing you from getting the badges. All that's required is logging out at a certain spot and patience. There's nothing wrong with badges that reward different styles of play. Would you also object to new badges with PvP as a requirement?

Thank you! 'Badge Hunters' everywhere, I love ya, really! But play nice with the other kids, it's our toy too.

Badges are signs of a variety of achievements that can be gotten in various ways and are being engineered more and more so that a variety of playstyles are included. I am glad that more and more badges are seen as out of reach by more and more people (but most badges are still obtainable by most people). Everyone should have some badges they view as unavailable or unobtainable by them or by their playstyle choices, IMO.
Making all badges forever be achieved in the same manner as previous badges is not a direction I want to see the game take. I want to see more and more variety in the types of badges created, not less.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. Why should there be only one method of receiving badges? Where in the CoH lawbook is it written that a badge can only be a reward for once certain type of action?

So basically, once the first 60 days have passed, pretty much every characters you own will now have access to a FREE bonus you didnt even had to really work for.
How is that not cool?
People really complain about a gifted horse in this case. Its not even funny. Its sad.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's new, and it's free. We all understand already that NOBODY plays COH 24/7. If it has ever been attempted, it only lasted for 11 days at which point the player died at the keyboard of sleep deprivation.
***Don't think of it as being awarded for doing nothing. Think of it as doing something (earning badges, accolades, powers, etc. . .) when you USED to be doing nothing in-game.*** -

Badge Collection is one of the mini-games within CoX that attracts and retains players
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. So to me it makes sense to have badges that take varied amounts of time to play. Like, the ones you can farm for 2 hours in Striga for, all the way to the ones that take months upon months. What fun is a mini game once it's already been won? -

how about getting these supposed 3 issues a year out for once. we've had 1 in a years time and its getting quite boring.
[/ QUOTE ]
Issue 10 (7/24/07) + Issue 11 (11/28/07) + Issue 12 (5/20/08) = 1 issue, I guess you're right...
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you Hellguard. I was a little baffled by this statement. I don't see how 3 issues in 10 months equals 1 issue in a year. Perhaps someone was just afk too long. -
Nice Scoop!
It was fun being a part of it this week, thanks for having me and my bro.
His character's name is actually Rhealm, not Rhealm EO. (That's his global) But it's all good.
Neuronia, I missed your PvP wisdom this week. Guess I can wait for another Friday. -

Oops! Too late.
Just about every website dev. team had time for this today! Except me, I forgot.
(Primana, please recalculate since your last post!) -
Haha!
Please tell me that the VS will be customizable!! As an Electric blaster, snipe will sound like "BZZZZZZZZZZZZT!" and Thunderous Blast will be "KABLIZZLE!"
We don't need no stinking audio. And thank goodness, because I forgot to buy speakers! -

To be honest I've never had any problem with the Hollows. Yeah, it's tricky to get around and it's huge, but shouldn't low levels be a challenge? The zone was always pretty full of content, which I often leveled past before finishing. It has a very diverse landscape and plenty of missions. Granted, being sent to the same place with every toon gets old, and that could contribute to the loathing that the zone seems to be victim of. But, it is a fantastic place for new players to learn about hunting, teaming, story arcs, and safe travel.
I always felt hating and avoiding the Hollows was more of a trend that cought on and became widespread.
On the other hand, I'm always in support of refreshing zones and giving players something new to look for, so no complaints here. I do hope they breathe some life into Boomtown next. The zone has so much potential. The lanscape is already great, but give us a reason to go inside!! Real time events ala raids, a new Task Force, anything.
Oh, and the GM idea for the Hollows is awesome!! I want to fight Grendell!! -
Will be great to have the Lion around again!
Manitcore, we missed you! -
Ok, I'm highly curious after reading through this whole thread. But I'll focus on what I came here for.
Great Scoop peeps! I enjoyed it, well put together. Great art also. I love the fan art scattered throughout every edition.
Thanks for more call to arms speeches- keep them comin.
YAY for City of Zeroes!!!! The bet CoH comic in existence, in my opinion. So glad to see you again Derek. You don't know me, but I'm secretly an obsessed fan!!! * drools * -

Personally, I think they should take the 'friends' channel that I've never seen anyone actually use past the first week of the game's release and remake it into an 'events' channel.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed!!!
(please?) -
Thanks for adding more Call to Arms speeches! I don't tire of reading them, and hope you will continue to add them to the paper!
You know, I wasn't really dissapointed with Castle's interview. First of all, I appreciate him taking the time to do an interview, and it seemed to me if he dodged any answers- it was necessary. He did make it very clear that significant PvP changes were not coming in the near future, and several questions that followed were about changes to PvP. So, it seems reasonable that he didn't have definitive answers about them.
Anyway, thanks to Dumok for doing the interview. It's cool to see answers straight from a Dev, whether PvP or PvE based.
Also, kudos to Protea on the Market Report! It obviously takes some time to contribute that column. I don't want your job!
Nice job again on the Base Showcase, Born2Lus.
Lastly, I want to echo to compliments to Dirtwolf for the /em Smack cartoon. Always funny and very cute!! -

How would you all feel about us proceeding to run a sampling of the more notable entries in the coming weeks?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that's a fantastic idea, Marcian_Tobay. Judging by the calibur of the entries I have seen today, I would love to read what others sent in. Plus it would be cool to see my humble lil speech somewhere.
Anyway- great Scoop, once again. Great job to everyone involved. This is a perfect addition to our community! -
Excellent coverage of Defenders, Neuronia! Well done on the article.
Great paper again, as always. My thanks to all involved! -
