I was actually really excited about this, I laughed when It finally registered that it was a joke. I mean doing away with all sound was a bit much, lol. However i'm just a tad disappointed. My brother plays the game and he's hearing impaired, I think he would have gotten a kick out of the visual sound effects as would I.

Is it possible to purchase the visual sound effects as a pack in the near future? despite the fact this was a joke?

(Modified cause he can hear a little with his aid.)

while this change to the costume creator is a great help to getting ito playing faster, how about some ingame QOL fixes. like the arrows to move the powers tray from 1 thru 9. change it from left to right, to up and down. or moving the arrow that opens or collapses the powers tray from 1 to 3 tiers? i've gone thru to change powers trays to get to macros i like to use, or powers i don't use in missions, and clicked on something i didn't want, because it was beside those arrows that allow me to change which power tray i'm on. or gone to collapse the powers tray to a single row after respec, and had my recipe window open up on me.

or, how about a means to save settings as default for the account logged in. since most accounts don't have more than one person sharing it. and having to recreate all the same chat tabs, visaul setup, etc for every new character made gets annoying and old after awhile.

and for the chat windows, when will arena be allowed to be available for the active chat, so that you don't have to /ac or bind a key or setup a macro to use the arena chat? as it is right now, when arena's the default chat in a tab, it goes to local instead. Also, why are some of the defaults channels doubled up? like global has broadchast and request, when it'd be easier to leave it in the chat window itself. and not have the help window have the rewards and system mesages go there, it could be the default window for arena. my setup here has chat with broadcast, local, emotes and request messages only, the help tab gets help and arena, global chats each get their own tabs, i've made a custom tab for team which has team, sg, coal'd, pv't, and friends.

the search window could be changed as well, like have the option to exclude those on mission maps. even tho there's a minor bug with being in a S/VG base, this could make it easier to find someone that's LFT, rather than hitting the 50max limit in the search window, only to have most of those be on mission map, and not in zone. or even have on mission map only come up if you do use the name field to search for someone ingame.

last, and probably among the most annoying, is the enemy chat. whether on heroes or villains, will this ever be enabled by default, like the hide friends from web page is enabled. what can be more annoying than someone wanting help and them not seeing because they don't have the show villain/hero chat, whether private or broadcast.

if the above could be changed, that'd be among the things that'd make me and probably a great deal of the other players happier.

ps; delete the duplicate in the sounds discussion.

I'd just enjoy the ability to save a costume to disk from the costume creator and then load the costume from disk later.

Wow. Character generation for those obsessed with the statistics, but completely lazy about costume design. It's like the anti-City of Heroes.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not really, I tend to use a costume set as a base (justice, stealth) then add bits on top from other sets to customize it.

[/ QUOTE ]
Same. I'll often start with a simple "set X" base, and then tweak the costume to-and-fro until I get something I like.

I like the new improvments.

Looks great.

Do you think we could ever get the ability to save costumes? That would be the tops.

[/ QUOTE ]

too tired/excited to read the whole thread to see if anyone else mentioned this yet, but...

check out the last screenshot in the announcement. see what it says there as the costume name? nothing from the list of presets.. nope. it says "custom".

[/ QUOTE ]

As mentioned above, if you're not choosing one of the preset costumes, then you're making your own custom costume. Choosing 'custome' means, you move on to pick individual pieces. Nothing about that implies saving the costume except for when you finish the character creation process and enter the game with it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Correct.

bummer.. would have been a cool feature. but still.. awesome stuff otherwise!!

Er um... there's improvements to the power trays coming. You'll be able to have more than 3, place them vertically on the side of the screen and other such stuff. Check out the overall i12 preview. More details to come probably, but we're getting some improvements for sure.

Now if we could just add more Layers?

Apologize if this has been mentioned by someone else, however I have a suggestion for the costume creation screen. A changeable background. This allows us to better contrast colors with the normal environment of City Of..., rather than the blue or red backgrounds. Just a background color changer or even screen shots of common locations throughout the game.

@rewster

"Look out! It's the monk of funk!" - @Hermetic
"With, Keil you just can't fail. >.>" - @Wrax

Isn't that what CoH Splasher is for?

Uber Talgrim - level 50 emp/dark defender
Uber Rod - level 50 dark melee/regen scrapper
Rod Valdr - level 50 invuln/SS tanker
Talgrim - level 50 ninja/dark mastermind

OMG!! Please add these costume designs now!

Next issue sounds great, can't wait. I'd like to see, though, a new class of character...off-shoot of huge; I wanna be able to create an obese looking toon. I think it would be fun.

I know this has probably been asked for time and again and you probably have a good reason it isnt available but. Could we get the full size shape modification range we have at character generation for when we are at the tailor? This would add allot of Comic feel we havent quite been able to achieve before. And i for one would love it.

why no color slider

I echo the sentiment of having the ability to access body type and build sliders (specifically height) AFTER character creation.
For mutants to show body size change from normal-sized human to large hero/villain or lil people that use tech armor suits, etc. to power up. We have 5 costume slots available and this would be a nice addition to personalizing avatars.

Agreed. I'd even like to see the "Male" to "Huge" conversion option open up.

[i]EDIT: Oh Jeebus... just realized that this sounds like something I might find in an email in my bulk/spam folder... sigh. Ah well, might as well leave it for y'all's amusement...

Is it possible that the new "Costume Set" category could take away from the individuality or creativity of the costume creator? Yes it may be easy sometimes when you don't need to look through every list of costume pieces, but wont everyone eventually just ignore the custom costume option and just pick the pre-made costumes?

I still think its a great QoL feature though

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

This is just a thought I had, so I'll throw it out there. Not saying what's being done isn't cool (It's very convenient, both the streamlined costume selection and showing stats during character creation), but here it is: Is there a point where the information we're getting is too much? I kind of feel like we're venturing into finding out who the "man behnd the curtain" is, so to speak. Does knowing every little piddling detail about everything really make such a big difference in the average player's enjoyment of the game? I know there's number crunchers, and they're gonna love it (probably...some might not like having their stat-geek status lowered when anyone can get their own info), but doesn't making this game more mechanical or mathematical by showing numbers all the time kind of demystify things too much?

I know, I might be overreacting a bit. But think of it this way: People love hotdogs. If you kept reminding them exactly what ingredients are in it, and how its made, would there still be as many who love them? Would they love them as much? Too much information can ruin a good thing.

[/ QUOTE ]

and here, ladies and gentlemen, you have the explenation to my pun. don't worry, you don't have to pretend to laugh! ^_^

But, i really don't know what a hot dog is made out of.. what is it made out of?

In the case of all-beef franks, it is, in fact, beef. Usually trimmings and scraps left over from processing steaks and roasts. These are processed by being ground and mixed with water and other seasonings and preservatives, and then furter pureed into a fine paste the consistancy of soft-serve ice cream. That mixture is injected into cellulouse casings and are further flavored and then cooked. The casings are removed, the hot dogs packaged, and shipped off to your local MegaMart.

In the case of hot dogs that are not all-beef, it's the same as above, only using a mixture of beef, pork, and chicken trimmings and scraps.

And now you know...the *rest* of the story.

(How It's Made on Discovery Science FTW)

So if i look at the numbers on my future powers my gaming expirience is ruined or is that just for the stat monkeys who dont play for fun but for " i have the best build because nerd prime (tm) said it had to be build this way, i dont care if its fun or not".

I like what has been stated regarding upcoming I12 content, but i have a question regarding the upcoming Improved Character Creation in Issue 12...

i realize that this additional content is addressed for new character creation, but i have several accounts and a few toons on them [even though other characters on those accounts function properly with respect to showing enhancemnt updating for new enhancement slotting] that have never permitted me to see the #'s whenever i insert an enhancement into a power slot... will this update/new issue content provide any fix/patch to allow enable viewing enhancement # adjustments in an existing character that previously/currently does not permit viewing the number adjustment????

Plz dev respond to this post since i know other players have this issue as well and my prior inquiries have always been that devs are aware of the issue but no plans for correcting/addressing.
