What My Six Year Old Has Learned From CoX

My son (24 months) is just starting to learn to use phrases when he talks. One of his favorite is "Open the door"... (more like "opa da doh")... The other day he walked up to me while I was playing and he saw me enter a store with my toon. He pointed at the screen and said "opa da doh! opa da doh!" So I turned around and went back out... he loved it and said it again and again. I spun the view around backward so the door was visable everytime I came out of the door, then I told him to click the door (though practice with his games, he's got decent mouse control). He proceeded to go back and forth through that door for about 15 minutes laughing and saying "opa da doh! opa da doh!" having a blast.

Don't forget two of the best things kids learn from playing games with Daddy...

1. They have zero fear of computers.
2. Daddy pwns! (in the good way)

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

Considering there's two little girl gamerz on their way in the next 6 months in my SG alone, you betcha.

Jeez, LM, now you're making me want to come up with a creative nickname for my little one so she'll fit in with our SG babycrew.

Baby Elf doesn't work for you?

Quickening's is going to be hard - her hubby also games and goes by Mindlock. BabyMind? Quickbaby? *shrugs*

[/ QUOTE ]

*sigh* I have been thinking about this. We don't have a cool ready-made baby handle for when our little girl is born. Maybe we should hold a contest

[/ QUOTE ]

Wait, girl? Pardon the stereotyping, but how about BabyLock?

Also, Quickling.

I vote for Kid Quick.

All your gonna do is just farm behemoths anyways.

Quickling would be confusing. Quickening and I are SGmates, and my hubby's handle was Quickling. Believe me, that's confusing enough!

Another SGmate suggested "the QuickLock Kid"

I have to agree with those who said this is the best post ever. I`ve got a 7 month old baby boy and can`t wait for him to be old enough to play CoX with his dad. I have to share one baby story (new dad how can I resist) that ties in with the thread.

I was getting in a bit of game time on a brute when my wife asked me to hold the baby for a bit while she runs to the bathroom. So I let my team know I`ll be afk for a couple mins. The little guy is on my lap happily hitting space (and usually a couple other keys as well) cause .. well he likes to smack things with his hand that make noise.

Anyway my wife comes back and we talk for a couple minutes when all of a sudden I hear all kinds of laughter over my headset. I finish talking to my wife, hand the baby back and ask what I had missed that was so funny. Team tells me to check the team chat from a minute ago so I scroll up and see that my 5 month old must have managed to reach the enter key a couple times. My baby`s 1st words in an online game were something along the lines of:

Lmkmml,égvmlmm.xzM.:Énbx xcxkcjvk.df v

I`m so happy...... I`ve got a baby gamer.

This thread is making me feel bad about holding off on settling down... Any of those baby crazy women out there single? (just kidding. [maybe])

I have been reading this thread at work for the last hour or two and it's making me feel all warm and fuzzy. Please post more inspiring stories!

God bless, and thanks for sharing a wonderful story.

My sons are still too young to play (3 months and 20 months), but I look forward to the day when they're old enough to duo with dad!

sounds familiar, my 5 year old son plays with me as well sometimes. I even upgraded his computer so he can play on HIS system, as he likes to remind me. So cute!

Altho his original costume attempts... hooooorible. But he's gotten much better at it now.

Well, I got this urge to relive the early days with Sister Flame and her first steps into CoX, so I thought I try my youngest, Princess S on Friday afternoon.

When I asked my just four year old daughter if she would like to play CoX, her eyes lit up like she had won the candy lottery.

"You mean like Flame?" she asked.

I nodded and we got set up. Her on my lap and my fingers ready to steer her around this great big wonderful.

Except... she didn't need me to steer.

After I explained how to move around with the arrow keys, I was told to "keep my fingers back" and Princess S went to work teaming with Flame on Guardian as lowbies. I felt like a third wheel as my two daughters whizzed around Atlas Park, working as a dynamic duo at defeating threats. Flame was doing a great job of directing her sister with her attacks.

"2... 3... 4... 2!" Flame would call out the buttons for Princess S to push.

Pricness S would look over the keyboard, find the 2 and hold it down until the attack was fully executed. What I found funny about the routine was that she had to hunt for the "2" button each time it was called out... even though it didn't change positions.

There has been one fatal flaw in my dream to re-live the young days of Flame. I have two accounts and four people that like to play. Needless to say, Pricness S and Sister Flame pretty much "hogged" CoX for most of the weekend. Even this morning, just as the sun was cracking through the windows, I heard the pitter patter of little feet on the floor of my bedroom. I cracked a sleepy eye and saw Princess S standing there. She smiled and said "City of Heroes? Can I play now?".

I glanced over at my clock, saw the numbers "7:27" and groaned something about sleeping in until 8:00.

Devs, I fear I have another hardcore CoX fan in my house who will have a level 50 before she can vote, drive or graduate from grade school.

That's great. Poor you, though, having to buy four new accounts and stuff.

*THIS* is the reason for account to account transfers of characters, by the way.

Or, let's say this... how about multiple log ins? Like AOL was (is?) with a master, and several subs.

Devs, are you reading this? This is important. Sister, Princess and their dad need to be on at the same time!

You could still only have one logged in at a time. The sub-accounts were just so each person could have their own bookmarks and email, basically.
