AM-MAY-ZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!

W0w Doug - wow .... love looking at that - damn .. where did I store that 5' wide screen of mine? *sounds of scrabbling*

... Really - the colours are outstanding and the detail is phenomenal and really, there's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said.

W0w!

I've been a fan of your work since I first saw that Champions adventure supplement you wrote, The Zodiac Conspiracy. The color inserts of all the characters was what really put that over the top.. and for what it's worth, I loved the characters and concepts [like villians who weren't actually EVIL, and could be interacted with in Roleplaying scenarios as well, they were more like rivals] that I still use most of those characters today.. and I still have the adventure, still with the color art insert.

I *knew* there was a reason his name rang a bell! I loved that book. I used it as the basis of the last Champions campaign I ran (which was some years ago, sadly.)

Love the poster, too, btw. The White Hooded figure in the top middle looks an awful lot like a character I played back in Beta

I think the question here is: when will your hero costume pack be available in the DAZ Store?

I don't think I've ever seen thread in the art section get this much attention from the devs...but you know it deserves it despite all my joking on the subject.

I even still have the GURPs supers books you contributed art to as well, and even in those early days I knew you had something special going on.

Keep on rocking in a free world, Doug.

I STILL have that book on my shelf, bought it new, and will never part with it! The poster is amazing!

That's awesome! I drew the Zodiac characters to show my skill to Hero Games, but they didn't want anything to do with them unless there was a module written to go with the art... so I wrote them a module. I still have all those original hero drawings.

I'm honestly blown away that people still remember (and use) those characters =)

You can never have too many people who think like this, in my opinion.

Ironically, it looks a lot like my main, Hallowed Shade, too (minus the sunglasses, with some additional facial and chest detail and with the secondary color changed from green to black).

damnnnnn Doug. Serious lost for words on this one. The amount of work and time that went into that. Very impressive. Mad respect to you. As others have stated.... EPIC WIN!

In the current HERO campaign I play in, Taurus, Cancer and the ship (Zodiac 1? that's what its called in our world anyway ) have all made appearances. Our PC team even helped Taurus get control of the ship back!

Thank you Doug, for both the great module then and the great art now!

I hadn't heard of LoneS.T.A.R., so I was thinking Lone Starr.

Wow, this thread brought in the red names... and I thought my dev round-up skills were strong.

OP: That is, easily, one of the best works of art ever made for City of Heroes, if not the best. Excellent work.

Doom.

Yep.

This is really doom.

well I wouldn't category as the best IMO, it certainly is the most massive piece I've ever seen.

I started this project back in October, when I got my hands on one of the new figures by Vexiphine. It's a new model for Victoria 4 and looked perfect for my very own Light-Speed. I modelled her up, and the new figure was SO awesome to use, I modelled another SG member... and then another.

After a few weeks, I'd modelled over half my SG (LoneSTAR, located on Victory), so I kept going and ended up making 3D models of all 41 members.

I spent the last week putting together a setting for the characters, placing them in the all-too-familiar Atlas Park.

This is the final piece in small size. The actual image is 31" tall and 60" wide, as 200 dpi.

LONESTAR Poster - Full shot

Here's a detail shot so you can see the full resolution;

And finally, I used the source images to make online sigs for every person in my SG. Didn't take long since I already had the core renders done;

Sample SIG - Texas Titan

Sample SIG - Power Aide

Dude. how the hell do you make art that looks like that? Is that computer stuff or freehand paints or what? And how did you nail all the costume parts? Unreal.

Amazing. I think I may have to get a couple of mine done like this.

"And you'll never have to." - the Dark Knight

I know it was all CG, but the piece has a very... Alex Ross feel to it. I bet if you tweaked it in photoshop to divvy up the colors and add brush strokes, no one would be able to tell the difference!

Awesome piece, indeed!
