Why do the devs hate COV?
Its off the table becasue the implementation is flawed.
For example a stalker who had clarity, had a hold effect applied, then had clarity reapplied would be momentarily held and have hide detoggled.
That sound like a hero/villan issue ?

They day the games are fully merged, that heroes and villains all have access to all of the zones etc., is the day I cancel my account. It is a bad idea all around.

becuase you will have more people to play with, you will be able to lvl faster and see more content?
i realy do not sapport villains turning into heros or heros turning into villains for one reason pvp. a stalker with a pocket emp all i can say is wtf?!? having a more co-op orianted game would work a lot better though letting heros team with villains and do a lrsf would totaly be cool.

And how CM's change got heroes whine, now its off the table to.

Level faster? Bull. See more content? Bull. As everyone is so quick to point out, it's one game, the accounts are merged, everyone has access to either side.
No, it's just a BAD IDEA all around to fully combine the games. Having unique content in each game is a good thing, it's more reason to actually play them, and despite how many people refuse to accept it (devs included) they are different games, they play differently, they should BE different. Heroes != Villains. It's a damn shame the devs can't see past the "hero" side of things.

Just wondering. Seems alot of attention villains need, just is a no go. COH gets alot more attention. This goes for pve and pvp. Will 2008 actually bring some attention?
[/ QUOTE ]
see what happens when you eat the last pudding cup
coh gets more attention more people play coh and there were issue with coh that was never resolved seems unfair but this is what happen when you wanna treat both games seprate if both side were open to heroes and villans well more content for every one.
heroes would go in to cov if had the chance but you cna blame patron power for that so i hear

No, because World PvP is antithetical to how this game was launched, and thus, antithetical to the very thing that attracted a large portion of the Old Guard among the playerbase.

Agreed. I don't need to level faster when I can solo to 50 within a few months of casual play.
My global list is nearly full. I can find people to team with at any hour of the day when I desire.
We have PvP zones. Would I mind if those were made cross server? Considering the small number of players I find in those zones, no, I wouldn't mind that at all.
Would I mind the constant nagging of "Player X wants to fight you" when I'm soloing in PvE zones? Oh yea, that'd annoy me to the point of cancellation in a heartbeat.
Be well, people of CoH.

Both sides play pretty much the same. And the only thing "unique" ATs accomplish for me is to deny me access to some of the things I'd like to try out. If I can't have a hero who uses Electric Melee, I certainly won't make a villain, instead. Concepts don't cross faction boundaries very easily.

Point of order: ATs that are unique to a given side don't deny you access to anything. You may choose to deny yourself access, though (and yes, I know you don't care for a lot of the redside ambiance and content ). Functionally the result is the same for you, but there is a distinction nonetheless.
I thought this thread had already covered that point though
cov does have alot of uniqu thing in it other then alts, ie we get to fight, snakes(they tast like chicken), long bow( witch are everywere), some crapy magic guys, a few sf were you do not do any real evil other then lrsf. it may be cox but the devs HAVE already made it a 2 sided game i am pritty sure other games like WOW that has 2 side is a bit more even.

Of course, the distinction is there, I make no contest. All I'm saying is that, at least for me, locking ATs to only one side does NOT make me switch over to that side to play characters that would require these ATs, it makes me not create those characters in the first place. I know there are people who play a side with the express purpose of playing its ATs, so obviously it works for some, but that still doesn't convince me locking ATs is superior to sharing them.
There are people who want to play an AT, but don't like the side it's on, or want to play a powerset but don't like the AT it's for. There are also people who don't care about side or AT and play whatever they like regardless of circumstances. So it works for some and fails for others. I'm not really sure as to what the ratio between these two types of people is, but it feels that, in terms of concept, at least, the current system favours coercion to play a side or AT over conceptual freedom. The only downside I see to sharing stuff is that people who played a side/AT they didn't like before will now stop playing it when they no longer HAVE to.

Other games didn't wait until an expansion pack (even if it could be played standalone) to include "the other side". CoV will never catch up in sheer quantity of content due to CoH's 18 month headstart.
Finally caught up after a week away. I am surprised that this thread is still here. I am more pleasantly surprised that the name calling nonsense has ended and that it turned into a discussion actually worth reading.
That said.
About a year ago, I suggested that heroes lose a hazard zone or two. They could have been closed off to heroes and a few of the contacts that you trip over every 5 ft in grandville dropped in there. People made me see the light.
Though it should be an easy thing to do, I would rather that they did not. I want the Villain side of the game to be expanded upon. I do not want to see anything else ported to one side or the other.
The CM thing is similar to what /stoners experience with SB.
The Stalker "fix" feels Hella Nerfish.

Did the quoted poster mean world PvP?
At any rate, world PvP or not; how the game was launched means nothing, it's how the game is now that matters. Online MMOs evolve, they never stay the same as they were at launch. Well, they shouldn't because that would be boring.
I consider myself old guard, and I only came to this game because it was a different genre, not because it didn't have PvP. If they added world PvP I'd either adapt or move on. Same as any change they make to the game.
Just saying.

count me as one. I hate going into the zones for the badges now. Perhaps if PvP wasn't such a joke in this game, I would stick around, but it is so I would be gone in a heartbeat.

Count me as another, and I ENJOY going into the PvP zones now and then. The trick is, for me? I have to go to the PvP .... it can't come lookign for me.
Change that, and I leave.
Not bothering to read this thread. Just coming in to one star it for the subject line.

Yeah; I'm not sure I would leave because of that, but it would mean a lot of the people I play with would abandon the game the moment it looked like world PvP was going to be implemented, much less it even getting to the live server. Wether or not they're correct in doing so, it would still leave me rather lonely.
