And yet some folks want to compound one error by duplicating it villanside ?

Yes. It's called a level playing-field.

Make PPP's available to Heroes through some series of quests.

Make EPP's available to Villains.

Call it a day.

More choices = more better.

At 40+, everyone should have a choice between

1) a Patron Pool (one of the Arachnos Elite or Freedom Phalanx, depending on your faction - basically a set of powers in the theme of your patron)
2) a Mastery Pool (elemental/weaponry/generic energy type pools like the current hero "epics" - for people who don't like the Patron Pools for flavor or suck reasons)
3) a 5th Generic Power Pool for people who think both the Patron and Mastery pools are a waste of their time, but would really like to fit in Recall Friend in a build that already had 4 Power Pool choices.

Then you could have your cake and eat it too. You could still have "pick one patron you're stuck with forever", but you could respec FROM that Patron Pool to one of the Mastery pools or the 5th generic.

Great, constructive post, and I really like the idea. Thumbs up, and you can count my vote for this.

Because if they didn't topics like this would be mere hyperbole at best or just plan wrong at worst.

They're so... confusing.

My Dark Corr still wants to know how Soul Storm is any different from the plethora of other Holds, etc. that he has.... great power, but its different from other Corr stuff, er... how? and my Brutes are wondering what the [bleep] good a Snipe is to them, especially having come 39 levels without one.... but plainly I know nothing.

And of course, Blasters don't have Unstopable. If they did, Force (Foce!) of Nature would give them mez protection. It doesn't.

I ran around a bit in RV with a couple of my Blasters, one with Force Mastery, one with Cold Mastery. I can definately see that ancillary powers like Hibernate and PFF are far more useful in a PVP setting than a Brute firing off an immobilize, or a Stalker firing off a hold (yay for Break Frees). And I didn't see anyone using any of the top tier patron pets... heh.

I'm getting behind the suggestion that villains ought to get their own versions of the ancillary pools. Then, to even it out, give heroes some Freedom Phalanx Mentor pools.

The downside of that would be, the PPP's would need some serious tweaking or they'd be obsolete for anything but concept purposes. And if they were tweaked, you'd better believe people would be asking to be able to re-choose the pools. So... a lot of effort on the Dev's part would have to go into a change like that. Which is a good reason why we haven't seen anything from them yet.

Brutes don't get snipes in their PPP's. They get a ranged attack, an AOE attack, and AOE immobilize, and a pet.

Stalkers get a snipe... too bad they're nigh useless for anything put PVE pulls. Extended activation times, and they use the ranged damage modifier, instead of the melee damage modifier like Castle had originally intended.

Check out the Patron Power Pools for Brutes and you will find out pretty darn quick. "Snipe" might be the wrong word, but ranged attacks? Yes.

I find the idea of ranged attacks ludicrous for this AT.

Different strokes for different folks. I adore the idea of having at least one single ranged attack per melee set. Works wonders on those damnable runners. It's so satisfying to pop them in the back as they flee. It's also good for taking out fliers and just generally taking pot shots at things out of melee range that you may not necessarily want to disengage and go chase after, like Mook Hitmen or Longbow Eagles.

That, and sometimes it's conceptually accurate to have a ranged attack. My Energy/Energy Brute would kill for a ranged attack that's not lightning. You know, like the Mek Men get.

I use it all the time, nothing funnier than nailing a runner with it in the back (BS one)

Sure my Brute could've used a ranged attack. I know I took Hurl on my Tanker because I wanted to be able to hit things without actually walking right up to them.

But the concept of it really bothered me. Why would a lizard-man-mutant-walking-inferno suddenly gain the ability to throw a ghostly shark at something? I'd much rather be able to use the Tanker's Pyre Mastery ancillary pool for my concept. I took Mako as my patron because, y'know, beastly mutants gotta stick together and all, but throwing sharks around just doesn't cut it for me.

Ohhh those. Then I disagree. I like ranged attacks on any AT. Even with improved PPPs (which I'd love) I'd still want the melee guys to get a ranged attack. They have so very many uses (and do pretty good damage.)

You are out of your mind. A ranged attack is perfect for this AT. I finally don't have to chase those damn hitmen and other annoying targets. Have you ever shot a critter with Gloom at 75% Fury? It's Brawl Index (DoT of course) is higher then Haymaker. Hardly ludicrous...

here is my question why is ourobos not a co-op zone...befor you say badges, they has already done stuff to make sure villain do not get hero badges, if cov is just an exantion why not make something that has to do with the coming storm were "hero ,villains and even rikti have to join to fight against" wy not make it so the hazard zone are co-op so people that only play one side have a chance to see what the other side is like without having to roll a toon. why when i got a lvl 50 villain can i not have an epic hero? i love the fact on villains i do not have to go to 4 zones to do stuff. i love that it is more strait forword but there is so much stuff i wish i could do with my stalker that i can not.

Posted

Why should it be Co-op?

As a villain your tasks are related to Rogue Isles (mainly) and the content therein. Having it be co-op would allow heroes to run CoV missions which is not what the devs have in mind (at this time). If cross-faction ever exits then this zone might become co-op. Until then it remains as-is.

Posted

i would love having heros do villain mission the more co-op stuff the villains and heros can do adding a lot more play time (edit) heros do not like having to go to 4 zones to do story arcs playing villain missions with there heros would offer them more streem lined mission arc that in it self is a player benifit

Badges?

Err sorry couldn't resist. Actually it is simpler than that and has been discussed in this very thread. The reason it isn't co-op is the same reason some villains don't like RWZ. Basically no tech exists to give different missions out to characters depending on if they are villains or heroes. To make the missions villain appropriate requires an entirely separate but duplicate set of NPC's with the villain missions.

It is surprisingly that simple really.

I was thinking about the problem with contacts being just CONTACTS and disregarding factions. I was going to bring up PvP zones, but it hit me that in the PvP zones, the contacts are all surrounded by drones, thus making it nearly impossible for the other side to hit one.

Nearly impossible. But I think it could be done. Warburg's villain contact has a hole in the drone line, if someone cam from the water behind the flier they MIGHT have a chance to reach the contact in time, especially if they went as one large group to keep the drones busy (those shots do have a recharge time you know). Has anyone tried this before, taking the villain PvP quests as a hero or vice versa?
