It was and I gotta say, not impressed. But I grew up in the south and midwest. I've faced down hurricanes, tornades, thunderstorms, hail, sleet, blizzards, you name it I've been in it. Got myself into a load of trouble by venturing out into a hurricane with a trash can lid when I was a wee lad. I was trying to turn myself into an untethered kite in 100+ mph winds before my mother caught me.
This earthquake just rounded off my exposure to natural disasters. All I need now is a volcanic eruption to complete the set.
Okay, so sure it was surreal, but no more surreal than vibrant green funnel clouds or standing outside in the eye of a hurricane.

you too? I once climbed our tree during a hurricane to to ride the wildly swinging branches......it snapped of course but I was only about 9 to 12 feet off the ground at the time. one and only time i've broken a bone. :P
and yeah i'm with everyone else i'll take a bad wind storm over the ground trying to shake me loose

Day after day,
more people come to LA.
Shhh, don't you tell anybody,
the whole place shaking away.(there she go!!!)
Where can we go,
when there's no San Francisco.
Shhh, better get ready to tie up,
the boat in Idaho!
(1st verse)
Do you know the swim,
you'd better learn quick, Jim.
Those who don't know the swim,
better sing the hymn.
Where you gonna go,
to find Filet of Monte Sole.
Ooh, ooh, what can you do,
with a bushel of wet coal.
(repeat chorus, sung with a Calypso beat)

The one thing I love about living in Wisconsin, no wildfires, hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, and not many tornadoes to speak of. I believe that I have a relatively stable home state....but I still want to live in California for some period of my life...maybe Grad School.

How long?
You must've missed some of the "Hey, my house is buried in snow" snowfalls. As for tornadoes? I could almost rattle them off... every county *around* Milwaukee. Never one in it though... "Waukesha, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha...."
(21 years there. Florida now. I actually want to go *back.* I miss seasons - yes, even with shoveling. Heck, I remember this as being a light snow.)
As for earthquakes? Felt the (far) effects of a few while in Oregon...

Considering that the worst natural disaster we get around here is the occasional flooded basement, I'd say that's pretty safe all things considered.

I had my first Earthquake in Southern California a couple of months ago and I kinda missed it.. the second one a day later I missed too.
My first one happened while we were at Disneyland. We were riding the Finding Nemo Submarine ride when the sub shook a little. Thinking it was part of the ride, we didn't worry about anything. However, when we got off the ride, all of the attractions in the park we're shut down. We thought it quite odd that they would all break at the same time.
The second earthquake happened while I was driving, so I never felt it.

Done that one when I lived up in Maine. My last year up there we actually had one hit landfall in Wiscassett (you know, where the nuke plant is!) and the eye came right through Augusta. There is nothing freakier than being in the eye.
I've never been through an earthquake, though.
Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!
Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.
I wouldn't worry too much about earthquakes.
I assume all of the devs have Hover, right? Just stay up above it a bit, and you'll just flip every once in a while.

You'll have to move either to Hawaii or up to the Pacific Northwest for that. Here in Washington State we've got 5 volcanic mountains in the state. Mt. St. Helens is only one of the 5 even if it is the most active.
Yes, I do remember where I was and what I was doing the day Mt. St. Helens blew. I was a couple of hundred miles away and I still heard it from inside the building I was in at the time.

That is why I live in Eastern WA. No earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and if we have a tsunami reach us, the ocean is dry.
But I must say, a few years ago I was outside in a tornado putting a tarp over the trailer I was living in at the time. Found out that the funnel was coming down to the ground when me and my roommate were doing that.
I am taking my sig to MWO and MWT. Let them wonder what it means.

Nah, yesterday's trembler is to a real earthquake like a gusty day is to a hurricane. You'll know it when you get the real thing.
And hopefully I have not doomed us all by saying that. Time to buy some knockdown resistance!
(Though it was the first time I'd felt that particular rolling motion since '89. Not what I needed to have happen while sitting down to watch the Lost pilot for the first time.)
<QR> Devs, don't take this 5.whatever earthquake as some excuse to not up Fault's damage. It can get really serious if its over 6.

Wild Fires (Yosemite and Cali.), Tornadoes (Minnesota and Texas), Hurricanes (Texas), Earthquakes (Cali.), Blizzards (Minn., So. Dak. and No. Dak.), Golf ball sized Hail capable of punching through the roof (Minn. and No. Dak.), Flash Floods and regular floods (Cali. and Oregon). Just need Tsunami/Tidal wave and Volcanic Eruption now. Looks like I need to move to Hawaii next.
