As part of our continued coverage of the history of the Outbreak plague, the Times would like to remember this year’s fallen.

Fallen to THE OUTBREAK PLAGUE.

"Users of Outbreak experience a feeling of invincibility and a boost in physical strength, but there is also a corresponding increase in violent tendencies and aggression. A single dose causes physical addiction and will cause a rapid and unstoppable mental degradation resulting in clinical insanity. Doctors have been unable to reverse the loss of memory and personality associated with Outbreak madness."

definately dead, fallen used in this way has always meant the person in question is dead.

As I mentioned in a different thread, none of this makes any sense. Is Outbreak a drug or a virus? Whoever wrote the article doesn't seem to know the difference.

It's an alternate history. It's got to be.

Nobody's ever escaped from the Zig? LOADS of people have - there wouldn't be a CoV otherwise!

No, someone's been messing with the past. That'll be the theme of Issue 11.

And by the way, that's a very rivety iron ouroboros there. It reminds me of a certain villain group.

Also, the issue of the newspaper is Issue 11. Nice.

I am further venturing that there is something to taking a level 50 character and being able to play the game all over again with that character.

[/ QUOTE ]

huh... Certainly not unheard of in gaming... Start on easy mode, finish, unlock epic mode sort of thing...

Its been going on since at least Zelda on the NES, if not earlier.

A time traveling Nemesis? The same Nemesis who got defeated by the combined forces of Heroes and Villains in I10, leading not only to yet another busted up Nemesis suit, but being exposed as a villain publically?

Nah, he would never travel back in time and rewrite history so Heroes and Villains never happened. He's not the type to carry a grudge, then plot on if for decades to finally unleash a terrible revenge.

RE: the No one has ever escaped from the Zig line..

Think about it, this is a 'newspaper' that citizens read - do you think they would publish something saying that tons of prisoners have escaped?

It is like what would happen during the Cold War if a foreigner went to Vladivostak (sp?) - You could be staring at a naval ship, watching sailors running around, and yet if you ask about the Navy there the answer would be 'There is no Navy here'.

Oh, this is clever. This is so so clever.

That reference to the 'widow of Doctor Greg Miller'? Well, Dr. Miller is the second person you talk to in the Outbreak mission. He's the one who sends you off on the rest of the missions.

This whole paper story is about how different history would be if one single detail was changed. Remove Greg Miller, and the Outbreak Plague is still raging after four years, because WE haven't been containing it. In this alternate history, the heroes haven't been able to do the Outbreak mission, so the plague has been rampant.

The whole flow of history works out differently because of that ONE detail - whether Greg Miller lives or dies.

It's all very Ubelmann.

Remember Vanguard's warnings in the comic? I definitely think this will have something to do with Arachnos and not Nemesis (unfortunately). Edit: Or this is the 5th's way of returning?

I was thinking of something similar. You hit 50 and then you get to play Game B.

I actually suggested something like this a couple years ago (although my version was to a dimension ruled by Talos where you started in Peregrine and worked back to Atlas to fight him ). Considering how the instancing of zones work, it's very workable for them to have two versions of Talos (normal and Game B) exist simultaneously.

Either that or they've approached Flashback from a drastically different angle. Rather than going back and playing missions you've completed, you hop to a different timeline and are able to participate in the content in a very different manner.

Whatever it is, this is some of the best hyping that's been done for an issue in recent times.

I think you're thinking of Drea the Hook. Mikey's right beside the Arena between the ferries to Cap and Mercy.

YES! They're not 6 feet under rotting in a Dark Astoria grave. They are dead in that they can never regain their humanity again and most people here are assuming the cemetary route. They are however still there like maniacal 28 Days Later zombies.

I’m combining your statement with Lady Sadako’s above and saying that we’re onto something here…

‘course, I readily admit that I’m biased by wishful thinking of how cool that would be.

More like resident evil zombies. Which is a good coincidence because the film opens this weekend. Could this be what starts off issue 11, a Crey altered T-Virus outbreak?

You're right. And on the villain side, Hard Time is the first contact you talk to and Angel Lopez is one of the second ones. They're also the only two villains who are mentioned as dying in the raid. Jimmy Dortz, the other of the two you're directed to, is oddly enough listed in the "We Remember" section.
