Interesting. Pohsyb apparently does not qualify as a dev according to the tracker.

Correction: the developers don't qualify as Pohsyb.

I don't think I'll ever be able to attend any sort of get together in real life because I'd wouldn't be able to decide whether to go as BAB the dev or as my main character and be able to hang out with friends/SG mates.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would say whatever makes you feel happier. No one has to know that you're a Dev, go to have fun, meet everyone, have some drinks with us all. And if at the end of the night when everyone leaves and you're walking out, and you wanna just throw it out there that you were BAB all along and then run off into the shadows, you're bad*** points will go up tenfold.

Or you could just go as BAB and we'd all smother you like you were our best friend all along anyways. Either way, it'd be awesome to have you come, regardless of who you went as.

I know the funny thing about these things is, no one ever puts their real name on their name tag. Last year we kinda started to, but NO ONE could find their friends, lol. As soon as I changed mine to "Neutra" I found like 10 people.

Be well, people of CoH.

Confirmed, CuppaJo will be there, as well as Cricket!

Note to OP, this is an NCsoft player Meet & Greet, so while it would be nice to have our Cryptic Developers out to Austin for this, we only unchain them from their desks at the end of each day.

We will try and pull something together for out here in the San Jose area where meeting the Cryptic Team will be more feasible.

The tracker probably only tracks CoH devs.

I have an image in my head about the scene in the Cryptic offices at the end of the day when the Unchaining occurs. For some reason, "The Ride of the Valkyries" is the accompanying music.

That's easy. But Richard Garriott still isn't going to be able to convince the Cryptic people to do anything they don't want. It's that "whole differant company" thing.

Simple! The next Meet and Greet should be TWO days long and you can spend one as each.

As a person who moved to Austin, TX from the Bay Area in CA I can tell you this: I didn't know what real barbeque was until I moved out here.

We should send them a teeny tiny box of Texas Barbeque and tell them they can't have more unless the come to Austin.

(Works both ways, though. No one out here can make really good Sourdough bread, either. Sure, they LABEL things Sourdough... but it's not. It's a mere facsimile.)

I'd be willing to trade Poke-E-Jo's or the BBQ of your choice for real sourdough. That's pretty much all I miss from San Fransisco.

The problem would be people claiming his SG has an unfair advantage when others learn they have a dev on board.

[/ QUOTE ]
A much more real problem would be getting pestered by players thereby ruining his gaming experience. Who wants to bring their real life work to a game?

I've heard of favoritism from GMs in other games (it probably happens in all MMOs), but I would imagine favoritism from a dev would be a lot more rare. Presumably a dev would have to use his Dev avatar to do anything not normaly achievable in-game, and that would be very traceable. GMs are supposed to be able to do stuff in-game, so figuring out that it was an act of favoritism might be a bit more easy to hide.

I think this just may work Missy! Texas BBQ is the best!

My boss and office manager are both Texans and always laugh whenever we Cali-folk in the office talk about having a "barbeque." I seriously had no idea until Teh Boyfriend and I visited Austin and Dallas/Ft. Worth last year! I'll never look at Cali-impostor-BBQ the same ever again. Diet be damned, I'm having me some real barbeque when we're out there for the meet and greet!
