Definitly liked that video. I agree that maybe a few more Villians could have been shown, but over all it as a good Video.
The clip was pretty cool; helps build up the excitement for issue 10.

It's almost like someone who doesn't naturally have a deep voice but is trying really hard to sound like James Earl Jones. Straining to speak from the back of their throat.
If you watch it without sound it is much better.

I think it would be a bit more dramatic without any voice over. Start with a black screen and some text. Then jump into the action. As certain things need to be said, just fade to black and toss out a quick line of text then fast fade back into the action.
I liked it.
I didn't focus so much on Announcer guy at the time.
I'll have to watch it again.
Aren't you guys worried that it was Emmert doing the voice over and he's making a list and checking it twice?

First of all, I am looking forward to kicking a little Rikti <censored>
The voice just did seem a little off. But you know what would be kinda cool? Have one of the I10 videos giving things from Recluses' point of view.
I cant quite understand why Recluse would have his "chosen" help the heroes of Paragon City now. Granted he might be in a much better position of power now then when the first Rikti invasion happend. But it seems very much against his nature to open a helping hand to Paragon City. I know both the Rogue Isles and Paragon City are getting invaded. But Recluse is a mastermind and a meglomaniac, they dont really know fear and arnt known for asking for help unless there is a ulterior motive.
And no, I dont think death is enough of a motivator. Recluse can always go to ground if things get too bad. He has proven time and again that when the going gets tough, he gets going.

Give the announcer a break! He had just worked up a thirst fighting Rikti and could only find some overpriced Hami Goo to drink!
The biggest problem with the voice actor was he sounded like he was trying to be Don LaFontaine -- the "In a world where..." voiceover artist who does a lot of the blockbuster movie trailers.
The difference is, that actually is LaFontaine's voice. He's not faking it, and he's not lowering his register to sound... well, like Don LaFontaine. I think this guy would have been perfectly fine if he'd done the lines in his normal register.
And the visuals were indeed sweet.

Agreed... The VO actor was trying to recite the narrative in a way that didn't compliment his voice. I think his voice is ok, he just needs to work on the inflections and pauses to get the most out of it.
Great video.. I can't wait til they fix the demorecord so that we can start making decent videos again...
But.... this seemed to be made with demorecord.. DID they fix it?

I said it on Neutra's post and I will say it here. Neutra's video is something you should be promoting. . . I have been on test and that video made me log off the main servers and head right back to test.
The official one while good. . . Doesn't quite capture the real feel of issue 10. Either way, so far I am LOVING this issue. Great work.

The announcer said it correctly (remember what inspired the name).
I was prepared to be disappointed with his reading, but I must say, he won me over at the end. Can't wait to do my part to stop the invasion!
Well, first lemme say I think it's super cool that you imbedded the video in the referring forum post.
As for the video itself, looks great but one thing that might have put it over the top would have been to score new music specifically for the promotion. Something fast and dramatic, perhaps with a strong drum cadence and a military-type feel.
And yeah, the narrator guy did sound like he was holding back the giggles.

Can't. Uses copyrighted music. If he had made it with the CoH music then they would still have to worry about Neutra's copyrights. Yes, even if Neutra says they can use it. It just isn't worth the legal hassle.
Regarding demos asked in another post - I haven't noticed any differences in I10 demos yet. Demos are not totally broken in I9 but the no-effects-on-self bug is really annoying to work around.

I KNEW IT! I told someone at issue 2 that Hero 1 is not a simple off stage character. I KNEW something like that would happen!
Also, I'm excited to work for the Dark Watcher!
I will admit the cinematic feeling is getting better each preview, maybe we can get positron to do his own voice, and manti and everyone else in a new video like we got for COV

Pretty disappointing really.
I'm pretty sad that, something of the magnitude of a Rikti return didn't get a cinematic video such as the Asian Launch or CoV did...
Granted it's "just" another issue but really...if it weren't for the Rikti's first invasion none of us would be here because they killed thousands of heroes the first time around...
Their invasion is the entire basis for the story of CoH and large parts of that story are influenced slightly or heavily by that 1st invasion.
This event deserved a cinematic...
