Discussion: First Issue 10 Video on 1up.com

Agree with Tundara. Sweet video. Really out of place voice. Sounds like I dubbed it over in my basement.
No offense to nameless announcer man.
I think the villain side looked a bit neglected because the hero footage was from fairly recognizable outdoor locations, while the villain footage was in the Mercy hospital area.
Since issues are getting smaller and faster, how many videos do you think they'll be putting out for I10? This is obviously the first, general announcement. I would expect another to focus on the revamped crash site and pylon raids.
it sounded like he was trying to talk in a deep voice...
and I think "NOW!" would have been much better than "RIGHT NOW!"

"Right Now!" sounded a bit more defiant. To be honest I kinda like how they added a voice to this one.

You said that and I had to go look.
I am just barely *not* in the video.
Not kidding, but I have a screenshot of the Mercy Hospital that is practically identical (with lots of the same characters in it) to the one in the video. Except it's about 10ft behind the shot. And I'm invisible. And about 10 seconds after they ported down.

I have to admit that one of the best things about COX is the power of the demorecord and the fact that they allow us to ability to play with that.
But back on topic, they have always made excellent "teaser/trailer" videos for the last several issues. I think one of the best "demorecord" was for issue 7.
I can only hope that if/when they make a COH/COV movie they deside to go full CGI and not try and do live action. I think the movie would be better done in CGI rather then do Live action with heavy CGI added to it.
Guy who did the voice over needs to be fired, or at least hire a professional voice actor to handle it please because some parts of his voice over were very hammy. Some nice camera angles though but there needed to be alot more action scenes and less 'one on one' scenes with a lone rikti shooting some heroes in PI with a mid-range camera shot.
I know it's low budget but come on now, I've seen some of the fans here construct more gripping vids. What happened to the CGI stuff as well? While I realise that these take months to prepare it wouldn't hurt to see one maybe once a year rather than occasionally for things like E3.
Oh cool, you inspired me to look again and I just realized that is my mastermind Delgardo front and center at the Mercy Island Hospital at 39 seconds. That is him standing just behind and to the right of his triage beacon. Those are his caltrops out there and his troops are to his immediate right. One of them shooting straight into the camera. Whoo hoo.
Anyway for those interested that is the level 18 Merc/Traps MM I was testing the invasion with.
Oh even more cool and he is there again at 48 seconds.
I was happy with this video before but this is nifty seeing myself in it.

Well, thanks for the beacon then, I was the corrupter sponging off your heals and SBing everyone!
It looked, felt and sounded like a fan made video. But press is press.

Posi... make some voice IOs. "Positrons Post-production."
Specific criticisms for the voice on here?
Listening to it, there's no sense of urgency or inevitability. ("The Vanguard were right. We should have knwn they would return." Where's the feeling of "We didn't listen?" "We wanted to ignore it?" or "We hoped it would be... later?" )
And... someone mentioned "Now" would be better than "Right now." "Right now" stops the weight of the statement. It throws off the rhythm. "Rightnow" is rushed sounding compared to the determination that can be put into "The Rikti invasion - Stops - NOW." Yes, typing it sounds Shatner-esque, but in that instance it works.
These, and... how to put it, a degree of thin-ness... are why people say it sounds fan made. Of course, you guys don't have voiceovers in game either.
Absolutely nothing wrong with using internal talent - if you want an image-breaker, find someone with the C&C3 Kane edtiion and listen to Joe Kucan after listening to him as Kane. He sounds nasally and... a bit whiny. But Kane has a depth and fervor to him that hooked people on him back in the original C&C.
We're fanboys (and fangirls) here - we want *everything* to be as awesome as the game is, even with all our nit-picky demands everywhere else
Honestly I didn't think the voice was that bad. Not pro-grade delivery but a good try.

Okay, I got 'Hate Posi's Voice Work' penciled into my calender.
But I didn't hate the voice over, it just felt misplaced. There was a wronginess to it. Hmmm... I think I have it. The voice used felt like it was coming from a college or high school football jock. What was anticipated was something more like the gritty voice of a sergeant. And before you ask, I have no idea why i think of sergeant's voices as being gritty.

Nah, it sounded to me like the same guy that did the inventions one but he's not used to using a deep voice.
Hey Posi? You know what would look good in the site's next news update?

I would just like to say how sweet it is seeing one of my alts in that video. If you go to 0:47, there's a shot of two characters doing simultaneous Haymakers/Bone Smashers/Air superiorities. My alt, Aurorion, is the guy on the right in the black and white Justice outfit using Bone Smasher. The fight from where that shot came was a particularly nasty, long, drawn-out battle against the Rikti in front of the hospital in Steel Canyon during one of the first multi-zone invasions.
