"...its use in Issue 12 content is not likely to be heavy, nor, as I understand it, will Issue 12 involve heavy revamp of existing content making use of the new tech."
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering the potential magnitude of improvement to the contact system that this represents, it would be unrealistic to expect a refit of existing content in the first go. Get to it when you folks can, just remember that we're drooling ourselves dehydrated out here. -
Ah, the things I shall miss about the current incarnation of the Hollows, like giving the greasy-grass-rules speech to the new fish, or running around the north and east edge of the map to arrive at a mission door before the guy that tried to just run across the Gulch (they never listen to the greasy-grass-rules speech the first time) and of course running into the gulch to give a awaken to the guy that got biffed because he ignored the speech. I won't be using the Red River as highway to the Heights anymore either. Meh, they were all a memories of a twisted ambivalent sort of enjoyment anyway.
Viva la revolution! I look forward to the new Hollows!
For the record, the Greasy Grass Rules:
(Developed after a great many "learning" experiances)
<ul type="square">[*]Never run the gulch without two awakens, one for you, and one for the other guy.[*]Never stop for more than 5 seconds without locating two escape paths.[*]Never aggro a mob without locating the OTHER mobs in the area, particularly the ones chasing another team towards you.[*]When it goes south, and it will, run. Don't stop, don't hold up on a hilltop Reno, because I'm not going to stop and look for you. I may come back after I clear the entire area, but I will not stop.[*]Remember, your always running BETWEEN two mobs, if you only see one of them, your probably running towards the other one. [*]Igs are bad, very bad.[/list]
I have never faceplanted in the Hollows without breaking one or more off these rules. -
We also have information about the Midnight Squad on the plaques for the Historian badge. The question is, will we be learning something about the yet unidentified super-powered mercenaries that raided the Midnight Squad's research center, killing 47, and causing the creation of the UN Special Council on Super Human Acivities, back in '99? I always suspected that it was connected to Hero Corp, but it will be interesting to see if any details emerge.

Beautiful work on the control tower and briefing room. The turret on the structure positioned to cover the hangar door is a perfect finishing touch!
Excellent use of space in the power room also. It reminds me that I need to re-think a few rooms, the extra space from the prestige grant allowed me to get lazy about fitting the most into the footprint I have. -
A very nice layout, and I really like the beacon array in the TP room, hadn't thought of that.
-
I like the entrance room, nice layout. If you need an arachnos flyer or longbow chaser, let me know, I'll be glad to stop by and drop one off some time.

Yet another attempt to create holding cells
Outside in the corridor
One door is open
Overhead veiw of the interior -
Well, my first try takes up a prohibitive amount of space, but you can make a decent looking holding cell door by floating offset lateral file cabinets.

The long dreamt of day when the pawn shops of Kings Row stack super-soakers to the ceiling is upon us! Hallelujah!
Now I must go, before I start to slobber. -

You mean that at the rate I10 is moving, you're not hiring professional voice actors? What are you thinking!
I look forward to the next video, whats it focus on? The mothership raid? -

that is my mastermind Delgardo front and center at the Mercy Island Hospital at 39 seconds. That is him standing just behind and to the right of his triage beacon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, thanks for the beacon then, I was the corrupter sponging off your heals and SBing everyone! -
I think the villain side looked a bit neglected because the hero footage was from fairly recognizable outdoor locations, while the villain footage was in the Mercy hospital area.
Since issues are getting smaller and faster, how many videos do you think they'll be putting out for I10? This is obviously the first, general announcement. I would expect another to focus on the revamped crash site and pylon raids. -
In Soviet Russia, cliche pop-culture references get tired of you!
Oh, and nice pic -

Malta?
Or.... Vanguard Shield? Note the ParagonWiki article assumes they're villains. Of course we now know they're not... or are they?!
[/ QUOTE ]
Not only is that a Malta spawn in the picture, I can even identify the sapper. He's the one visible between the legs, nearest to the right leg. You can recognize the hovering posture. Call it the practiced recognition of someone whose main is a toggle dependent tank... -
In the picture marked "Advanced Rikti Weapons" there are Malta in the background, in what appears to be the Crash Site, or War Zone, or whatever the new name is going to be.

I for one am looking forward to getting a toon to level 20, so I can earn the right to wear a TV on my head.

Talked to the Arachnos Situation Monitor next to the Administration Fortunata. He said 'A hero? But how? Guards! Guards!' I'm a villain.

An NPC in Grandville with a programmed dialog for meeting a hero? Wow, that has interesting... implications
Yes? -
A couple of things bear mentioning.
First, who you swear a permanent allegiance to is a considerably large character
issue than the mechanics of public transportation. Almost everyone here realizes that.
Second, having States stop by and aknowledge that there are a lot of people unhappy with
the current offering is the best result possible at the moment. I hope that in the future, villians
get an APP alternative and CoH some patron style powers. If the patron sets are still a little
better than the APPs, to make us choose, thats fine with me.
Good Hunting All! -
First, The issue of imagination, and it being preferable to explanation came into the thread in specific response to the following,
[ QUOTE ]
I would love if they adapted the "Patron" set-up for heroes and gave us a storyline or two that explain where we get these new epic powers and why they are important to our characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
I stand by my statement. Such an addition would be substituting explanation for imagination.
Second, if CoV is giving us an preconceived "ending", then maybe there really is a larger problem with a lack of imagination as well, or at least the perception on the devs part that we're lacking in that regard. -

"A good roleplayer can roleplay anything."
[/ QUOTE ]
That's true, but I'd still rather not have content that I have to torturously work around. Just because you can tolerate something does not make it immune from criticism. Also, for the record, I'm not a fan of Kheldians either. I've tried 'em, and they've all ended up on the backburner, because they DO have some of the same problems. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ultimately, I think being given power from someone else is a much more rational explanation for these new powers at level 41 than just "You hit level 41, now your fire blaster can use electricity" or "You hit 41 and now, and only now, your scrapper has learned how to throw throwing stars even though Tsoo have been doing it since level 13." I would love if they adapted the "Patron" set-up for heroes and gave us a storyline or two that explain where we get these new epic powers and why they are important to our characters. Right now they aren't anymore important than the Fitness or Speed pool.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem isn't explaining the powers, I know exactly where my main's epic pool came from and why it's important to him, because I filled that part in myself. If I was forced into a cookie cutter "explanation" mission to tell me how, where and why I received his epics, then I would be equally unenthused about those as well. This is about a good imagination, not a good explanation. -
I agree with the OP's sentiments. No matter how much I enjoy the game, the way that CoV
handles the storyline has always left me feeling a little patronized. -

Not to whine on everyone's parade, but can you tell me exactly how a STALKER is supposed to do any of these missons?
