Official Thread for Grandville: New Villain Zone
So...freaking....huge....OMG, but so pretty. I thought we were supposed to start at the bottom of it though? I took the black line into it. Is there any other way to it? I dropped before I could check.
Talked to the Arachnos Situation Monitor next to the Administration Fortunata. He said 'A hero? But how? Guards! Guards!' I'm a villain.
Think about it, you both wear tights...you're bound to get confused sometimes.
LOL!!!
When you first walk in off the ferry and hear Recluse talking on the Big screens... awesome... simply awesome...

Lol I always found it funny how the villians say, "Tights! Get'em." or something like that when most of them wear it as well.
Test server down so I can't check it out. Anyone got screenies?

Lemme guess...
Lord Recluse: "Welcome. Welcome to Grandville.
You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers.
I thought so much of Grandville that I elected to establish my Administration here
in the Big Ol' Spidertower I built to scare the poop outta everybody.
I have been proud to call Grandville my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through on your way to parts unknown,
Welcome to Grandville.
It's safer here."
And later....
Lord Recluse: "Let me read a letter I recently received. "Dear Lord Recluse, why has Arachnos seen fit to supress us poor, impoverished Rogue Isles citizens? Sincerely, A Concerned Citizen."
Thank you for writing, Concerned. Of course your question touches on one of the basic biological impulses, with all its associated hopes and fears for the future of the species."
Guess the reference. It isn't all that hard.
@Demobot
Also on Steam
Half-Life 2, right at the beginning.
lmao.
I am just about to get on the test server and can't wait to test out this place with my brute. Last time I tried it was down.
Holy crap. I love the video screens with Lord Recluse. Nothing like a little brainwashing to help the isles.
Seriously. That's as far as I've gotten. I can't move away. Whoever came up with that one, 5 stars for you.
Wish I could see it ; ;
It seems a lot of people are saying they can't enter missions in GV without crashing, though.
Gone into grandville with three different character on test. I would get killed or try to enter a elevator. I would hit go to hospital and the load would begin at that point the game would crash. What makes it bad is that if i try to use those characters again the game would begin to load and about half way it would crash again...cant get on the characters because of it. Ill recopy to test tommarrow and also see if the characters are free.
Sounds like the same problem I'm having--defeated in mission, go to hospital, programs dc's half-way thru loading back to Grandville.

I am not DCing. However, every time I exit the tower with the arch villains and step outside (near the giant Recluse statue), I encounter a severe memory leak and my framerate drops to 1 frame every 3 to 5 seconds. I can only fix this by exiting the game.
Absolutely beautiful ... the sounds, the textures, amazing. Thanks!

An NPC in Grandville with a programmed dialog for meeting a hero? Wow, that has interesting... implications
Yes?

Same thing happens in Port Oakes.
It's 'graphically intensive.'
61866 - A Series of Unfortunate Kidnappings - More than a coincidence?
2260 - The Burning of Hearts - A green-eyed monster holds the match.
379248 - The Spider Without Fangs - NEW - Some lessons learned (more or less.)
I noticed that when the sun starts to set I turn a bad shade of green.

just found an unlockable contact outside one of my missions butcrashed before i could get the coordinates.
TV: appears to need an infamy badge worth roughly 20 mil.
Midas touch i think its called.
i only noticed because there was a longbow agent, freak tank, carnie mistress, arachnos boss, all huddled around it watching static intently
due south (maybe a lil west) of wiggly (or whatever his name is) by about 500yards to .6 miles i think
edit: went back and found it: TV is located at -3233.6 -458.4 2361.1
I took falling damage while running down one of the "ramps" attached to the spire.
I was using Superspeed bu you seem to take damage regardless just more if you are using SS.
Is this intended? It seems like those are there to allow SS to reach the top area but if they want to go down they take damage?
It is not a huge amount but it is enough to notice.
Don't know if this is an unlockable contact but there is a Rikti ambasador that will give you missions in the hall where you go to pick your patron powers. His(?) name is Ambasador Khur'rect and the coordinates are 2675.8, -1044, 697.
'Lo, there do I see my father.
'Lo, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers.
'Lo, there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning.
'Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live forever.

Thats not gonna change. Happens in other zones too. Infact it
happens to people with SJ too. They jump down and loose 90%
health. You just gotta be careful.

I've crashed every time I tried to enter a mission in Grandville, so I've given up on that for now. I'll wait to try again when the issue has been addressed.
The zone itself looks awesome, but the lag is pretty bad for my system. I only have 768MB of RAM, though, so I know I need more. It'll be a few months before I can buy it though.
I also get an ugly green haze on every character when sunset occurs. I've seen similar graphical colorations in other zones during sunset, but nothing THIS striking.
This thread is solely for discussions regarding Grandville, a new zone for level 41 - 50 Villains. From the Issue 7 Training Room patch notes:
"New City Zone
Grandville The black heart of the Rogue Isles is a dangerous place for even the strongest villains to venture into."
