Great! I can add a few more XP to my characters before i let my account expire and switch to World of Warcraft. If you have any sort of life it takes far too long to level once you get past 25th level.

Biggest disappointment yet. Cryptic, please if you are going to have a huge event be prepared to handle the load. The servers were not playable enough to even gain from the double xp. I gained less xp than I normally do because of the wasted time waiting on trying to even log in. After 30 minutes of failed attempts I gave up. 2 Thumbs down for not being prepared.

This comment is useless. Every server is not the same. I was playing on Virtue all day and all night, and it ran perfectly, and Virtue is the 2nd most populated server. I didn't even have lag.

Agreed. Only saw one server hit red status Friday night, and even logged in out of curiosity. Didnt see any strange lag around the typical choke points.
Perhaps an ISP issue?

What the heck have you been doing? Soloing... on Heroic and dying a lot?
I have to do that on any toon I want to not levle up fast. It doesnt get hard to level until the 40's buddy and even that I'd wager issue 10 will fix, including finding teams villian side since Issue 10 wil lhave a big whoopin levle 35-50 Co-op Heroe and Villian zone.
I'm sticking arround and letting my LOTR and WoW accounts Expire.
As for this weekend. Im upset my pal couldn't get on freedom last night but I switched over to a Virtue alt to hop into action with him. thank heaven for the games AWESOME and unmatched Global chat system so we'd both know where each other could get to (server wise).
I'm also cheesed its Fathers day weekend they chose for this.... I just have no time for it.
Last I'm upset with myself that the only toons I'm realy geard up mentaly to level are all ones I don't want to outpase story arcs on... Oh woe! 
Oh well... get a few toons to Stamina level. That'll be fine enough.
Other then that it's all fun.

Probably Freedom. I alt-hopped last night after leaving Freedom cause my pal (normaly no issues) simply couldnt get on there. By the time we were both switchign to virtue even that was getting hard to get on... though I noticed it ran better then Freedom did once I was in there.
Can't give you nay numbers. Just how it 'Seemed' when I approched rough spots like Wents or Talos train staion etc.
Oh BTW if your ever having too much trouble loading the screens in the bussier Wents, try the Kings Row one. Nice and clean. Less people and those that are there are less likely to be needlessly keeping active toggle powers while perfectly safe in Wents. Probaly cause they don't have them yet.

Unfortunately as you stated, you play on Virtue. Every server is not the same indeed.
Folks who have their primary characters on Freedom are out of luck this weekend as it takes an exorbitant amount of login attempts and time in order to actually get through the DBserver disconnect message. Also the server was nigh inaccessible for much of the primetime hours on Friday.
I'm glad your experience has been pleasurable. However, people should be entitled to the same game experience regardless of the server they reside on. I wouldn't consider this opinion "useless".
I think with Virtue's crash, the Double EXP was turned off.. can anyone confirm that?
Been trying to log in Freedom yesterday night and tonight...no luck...this sucks. I wish it was normal xp weekend so I could play.
It is to be expected, but really unfortunate that Freedom is essentially imploding at uncertain intervals due to load issues.
When I am on, there are no issues. However, the server did crash on Friday night, and I verified it on the cityofheroes.com server status page.
I know it's a bigger headache than it's worth to Cryptic, but it should be an option to move your toons from Freedom server to different, less troubled servers.
Anyways, double xp is fun, kinda, but more of a hassle than anything.
The phrase: "Lost connection to DBserver" will be what I equate with Double XP weekends.
been trying to log on to freedom for a hour and cant get in gettin the db message...very unhappy...thanks for the dbxp though. cant play with it but thanks anyway
Yep if only the servers could handle the load. Justice just crashed. double xp would be great if the servers could handle the extra load but appearantly they cant.

Wow. I thought my connection was just bad yesterday evening. I was on Virtue around 7pm and thought I had just gotten booted. I have to play on dialup so I was getting some horrid lag in spots, so I just tried logging in. I was surprised when I couldn't. Now I know why. There were some friends on a chat channel who were complaining about the Freedom crash. I feel sorry for those who didn't get to play their fave Hero this time around. Hopefully they'll extend or do this dbl xp thing again and some can catch up.
I for one enjoyed the double exp weekend for what it was. I got a once enthusiastically created alt to 49 and regained some interest in playing it. I didn't experience any server lag issues, perhaps because I play on guardian. All the same I feel for those who experienced issues.
We need double experience events more often because it gives me a reason to bother grinding another toon through the same content yet again.
I got on virtue around noon the other day and it was 3 bubbled red and barely connected after 3 attempts. I honestly think Cryptic hasn't improved their servers at all since launch of CoH...they obviously have trouble handling even 2-3000 simultaneous players on a server....whereas at one time I remember them saying the servers should run fine with 4+ thousand on at one time. Not to mention that a year or two ago they altered the method for determining the color code of activity level for servers. They reduced the numbers required to show a server as being in the yellow and red for usage because there were fewer players...
We see the same issues whenever there's a new issue or an account free-weekend or a double xp weekend. The servers get swamped. There's tons of lag, tons of login problems and no explanation as to why in 3 years of seeing these problems they seemingly haven't upgraded their servers to be able to adequately handle more players on at one time. The technology has improved but they haven't invested the money into getting it apparently.
And it's not like it takes a genius to know when it's gonna happen...new issue, free-weekend, double xp weekend...sigh
Yes, the connection problems were miserable, but to all of you who couldn't log on, you didn't miss much.
I was on all weekend, Heroside and Villainside, all manner of AT's all kind of levels, Sg or no, several servers. You'd think it would be easy to find a team during an event like this. Still, no invites, no one LFT. The few teams I did get were hopeless. Special thanks to the lvl 9 turd who begged his way on to our lvl 40+ duo and zeroed my xp.
This was seriously pathetic. The amount of time I spent waiting for people to get organized just so I could earn little or no XP was horrible.
If this is the best our player base can manage on an event that I have never seen the like of on any other MMO, then this is going in the tank fast.

I am so tired of everyone complaining. If you just came on to play CoH for the double XP weekend and don't have a support thing of friends, sg, and coalitions then you're not going to find teams. I was on ALL weekend and had teams ALL the time. People were constantly spamming lft in Peregrine and other areas. If you don't like the game then just leave and let the people who see it for what it is enjoy it. PEACE!

I'm sorry that your play experience was so poor. I was fortunate to have teamed with some great duos and pick-up groups. I was having to beat invites off like flies myself. From Friday till now I was able to play on and off and level my fire/ice blaster from level 9 to 21. I had no isssues beyond some rubberbanding every once in a while. I enjoyed myself thouroghly.

Beyond the argument that the servers are oudated and weak technology, I hope this puts to rest the argument of merging servers together as we would surely have this problem on just normal prime hours

I had a great weekend. An SG buddy & me created four alts between us and took them around paper missions mainly. Got all four up to 22, which was our goal and earned a nice amount of infamy/prestige. Really was a worthwhile event but I'm glad these events are few and far between, as it sucks a great deal of your social time... like all of it
And thank you to the player who paid 2 million for a Pacing of the Turtle after I put it on the BM for 1 infamy
I hope this will turn into another "Winter Lord" style event so that there are copious amounts of mid to high level toons with no influence or enhancements.
It makes the economy so much better.
