My opinion:

energy blade and electric hammer would be best integrated into the psionic weaponry powerset. better to have one versatile powerset than two one-dimensional sets.

Ball and chain could be a versatile powerset as well, with powers within the set that could include damage (standard "hit em with the heavy end"), entangle, PbAoE, ranged entangle, etc.

For defence: I like the notion of shield defence. As someone pointed out, this fits a whole range of archetypes.

A pistol scrapper set like in the movie Equilibrium would be cool. It could be a mixed set like spines with both short ranged and melee attacks.

I want staff/spear combat for scrappers. Shield combat for secondary. However out of the the chouices I gotta say Street fighting and Shield Defense.

We did plan out Power Sets for the retail box, but we've gone the route of free updates instead (woohoo!). Yep, we had some planned...and we thought about just putting those into updates as schedule permitted...

but then we thought it'd be cool if we polled the players what they wanted first. Not all of these power sets are of equal difficulty - some are tougher than others - but they are all possible. I can't promise exactly when it'll get in, but please know that we've heard loudly and clearly that players want new power sets.

BTW...Ball and Chain was my little addition last minute. It would be just be SO cool!

Melee: I voted for Psionic and Energy Blade. Both are damage types underused by Melee. We allready have two sword sets, and I think it would be unfair to have Dual Blades take away from Katana's status as the "cooler" of the swords. And while street fighting could be fun and fit some characters, there's only so far brass knuckles and a broken beer bottle will get you against superpowered threats. Any serious 'street fighting' character is likely to rely on Martial Arts training before too long.

Defensive: I voted for Willpower and Growth. Force Fields, Density Increase, and Vibration (sonics) can all be granted by Defenders/Controllers. I say to leave them those jobs. Nobody gives good Psi defense, though, which makes Willpower a natural pick. And Growth... well, that would just be fun to play around with. :P

Final: Staff power set, please.

Also, if you do go with Energy Blade, don't use the ones the Carnies use. We need the BIG sword for this set. Go play some FF 7 and take a look at the Buster sword. And if you do want Dual Blades, combine that and Energy Blade, and make it two huge blades. (If it's energy and has little mass, why not?) FF 7: Advent Children has about what I'd be wanting from that.

I'd second a pole arm powerset like quarterstaves, glaves, pikes, spears and the such just on concept alone, but scrappers really do need more powers that do more than just smashing or just lethal damage. (Which is a shame on me situation seeing as I voted for dual blades


And slightly off topic, but will there ever be a poll for ranged powersets? I'm really dying for a standalone dual pistols/Gun Kata archetype after playing around with Thug MMs and getting thrashed by Malta gunslingers. Could set it up kinda like the Grammaton Clerics from Equilibrium.

The first step here should be to open up more cross-AT sets. Most Tanker/Scrapper/Stalker/Brute sets should be held in common. As should most Defender/Corrupter/Blaster blast sets, most Dominator/Controller control sets and most Defender/Mastermind/Corrupter/Controller defense sets.

What I want when I voted Street Fighting was a brawling/punching set. Basically, the same as Martial Arts, only you'd actually use your fists.

The game is full of flashy moves and over-the-top FX. Some options that fit natural characters would be great. In the same vein, I've always wanted a defense set that doesn't hide your costume.

I think a staff would be cool and fun! And somebody said something about water powers HOLY CRAP! that would be so awsome on a troller. vibration? i can come up with some good ideas for that but i dont know what the programmers have in mind.

I think the most important change that could be made to the power sets is if we could chose the colors like make the fire blue or red if we want and a Master Mind should be able to dress its pets different than the next guy at least chose different colors.but thats off topic huh?

id like to make a toon named Matt Hughes and tackle bad guys to the ground and throw them around. A wrestling power set hmm?

i'd love to see some shiled melee and shield defense but I want to be able to choose WHAT appears on my shield, and maybe a choice between 2 seperate sheild a round and a more authetnic look. probably asking way to much of the devs =P but thats what I want

I still can't believe how certain classic powers of the comic book genre are being overlooked.

Yes I would love to see growth introduced. Growth is a power long overdue, but so is stretching. Whether the character has rubbery limbs or mechanical tentacles or hands that turn into mace-like weapons, stretching heroes and villains are an enduring archetype in comic books.

Now the argument could be presented for having a ranged hand-to-hand attack such as stretching assigned to the blaster or defender archetype (and maybe a variation of the powerset could be designed for them as well), but I feel that if most of the attacks are fairly short-range (with one or two longer-ranged "sniper" powers) it would be more appropriate for a melee concept character; a scrapper or tanker. A secondary powerset for blasters or controllers might include entangling/constricting effects.

Stretching would also be an appropriate defensive power, with the character's malleable body absorbing or avoiding attacks.

A stretching power pool would be a welcome addition as well, with a bouncing defensive power (hard to hit), a rubber-skinned defensive power (hard to hurt), a stretching movement power (reaching and pulling yourself across great distances), and perhaps a temporary invulnerable form (similar to phase-shift).

And this doesn't even touch the other powers I'm waiting for: Shrinking, Wall-Climbing, Grappling Hook/Web-Swinging, Multiple Limbs and Prehensile/Bludgeoning Tails, Swimming (along with underwater environments), and Tunneling to name a few.

Can we please just get something! Reanimate the powers OOOOOO theres a thought. reanimate them every issue so we arent bored or dont who cares right its just a game like any other. and like all games one day we wont play it anymore.Anyone up for MONOPOLY?

Please, gimme an active defense/debuff set like kinetics.
I sap a mob for my resistance and mez protection.
I use transfusion for a self heal. transference at 35 for an endo buff, etc.


I hear ya on how cool a ball and chain would be.

Oh well. Street Fighting and... I guess Energy Blade, though I'd be annoyed since that was my main's original concept.

Electric Hammer is cool, but we have enough Smash/Lethal. Same goes for Dual Blades.

I'd just like to say and I think just about everyone would agree with me on this, that we need more of a description on what these power sets would actully do. The names you gave us don't really tell us anything about the power set.

To that note I allso belive any new power sets added to the game would be a good thing and don't really see any perpos for this poll. The poll leads me to belive the power sets that don't win will never be seen and that's something I'd rather not see happen.

As for the "dual blade" set mentioned I hope that gets implimented on the ninja pets for MMs, it really bothers me to see that extra sword appear on his back when he never uses it.

street fighting would be cool. but what woould be really awesome would be new archtypes for villains. when i hit 50 with my villain, the game said "new archtype available", but nothing was unlocked for villains and i cant use thew hero archtypes. VILLAINS NEED MORE SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO CRUSH THE HEROS!!!
