probably but by the time we get these new powers the PS3 and Xbox 360 will have their new MMO's so what would be the point of hoping
They are hiding the results for two reasons more than likely. One, so that they don't get people complaining when the one with the most votes don't get implemented . Two, so that people don't come to expect the ones with the most votes to be implemented next.
As for only having the poll up for 24hrs. Who knows.

I voted for the Shield sets, Growth, and Psionic Weaponry.
Because they are *different* from existing sets in the game. Hammer, Balls and Chain, etc. just seem a lot like Axes and Swords in terms of how actually new they would feel.
I could be completely wrong, as I don't have the internal discussion going on in my head, but Growth in particular sounds like it would have a completely new, er, dimension to it in play!
And Shield would go very well with Battle Axe and Broadsword I think!
Some days I just wake up cranky. Today might be one of those days...
I'm sure others have said this, but not even open for 24 hours? How do you seriously think you recieved much input from anyone other than the vocal minority?
I logged into the game last night, thought "hey cool, a poll I'd be interested in. Will get to it first thing in the morning."
Log in the next morning and hmm, forums down (which really is no problem in and of itself, but odds are you can see how this would conflict with voting). Would have never guessed the poll would come down so quick.
Sorry if this comes off as ticked, I'm really not so much as shocked. Not really understanding why even put it as a news announcement while logging into the game. Hope at least a decent amount of players participated in the short period.

No kidding. For something that's supposed to take what the players want into consideration, they're seriously limiting themselves to a tiny fraction of the playerbase, which makes me question how much our opinions matter on this at all.

I'm kinda pissed about that fact, too. I only happened to find out about the poll on a different website. Came over to vote and the boards were down for maintenance. Just got in now and the poll is already closed.

heck.. i was the last to make a comment in the primary set thread.. never even got to the defense set to vote on it.
i would imagine they should leave a poll like that open for at least a week.. not everyone who visits the forums are here every 12 houirs.. some people actually go days without visiting the forum. (weird, right? lol..)
in other news.. i had chosen Psionic Weapons and Dual Blades. (i was thinking of something similar in look/use to Riddick's blades, from Chroniocles of Riddick)
as far as defensive sets went..
i was going to pick the shield defense.. it would just fit well with broadsword/battle axe/etc. sets.
and i don't know if i could have chosen a second one anyway.. i think there would be something better than those choices.. not sure what at the moment, but i'll post again if i think of one.. or if i read through this thread and agree with another.
although it still bugs me how short that poll was available and how small of a cross-section of players were able to vote.
at least we have this thread, which i suppose makes sense.. since we can still have our voices heard.

I think they only let the polls open for a couple of hours so that they would only get input from the hardcore forums members who are active. But.. I still wish they would've left it open for a whole weekend or something. =\
I went with the shield sets, power blade, and growth. The Star Wars geek in me made me vote for power blade, but the more I think about it, the more I see that that would be the third single blade scrapper set. If power blade wins, please make it very, very distinct from Katana and Broad Sword, both in look and feel.

As you have probably heard us say before, we are constantly trying to bring you cool stuff in the 'City Of' games! We want to make sure that the stuff we bring you is actually desired by the players as a whole, as opposed to a vocal minority.
To this end we are considering the possibility of two new powersets for the 'City Of' games. The intent is to fill in the two Archetypes with the least number of powers: Tanker primary and Scrapper secondary, which only have 4 choices currently. The second set is a defensive set, used again by Tankers and Scrappers. Again, we have some ideas on what we think is cool enough to include into the game, but would like your input:

* The sets marked with asterisks are ones that are included for completeness sake, but comes with technical risk which may delay implementation.
I'd like to mention that these powersets are NOT for Issue 10, as we are nearly locked down on that issue already. They are for a future Issue and will be included for as many archetypes as it makes sense for. We definitely want to do something that the playerbase as a whole sees as a "good thing" for the game, which is why we are looking for your input!
If you have other ideas for a melee or defensive set that you think would set the world on fire, feel free to post it in the discussion thread . If there is a strong enough groundswell on a particular idea, then it will be considered as well, or may make it into future consideration for other powersets.

some of these sets COULD be cool, if i had any idea what exactly it means. or, are they left intentionally vague so that the players can give the meat and bones on what would go into each powerset?

what's the diff between this and super strength?
O Electric Hammer
does it shoot lightning bolts, have a ranged/boomerang attack, thunderclap when you pound it on the ground (mjolnir)?
O Energy Blade
a generic no-name light saber + jedi and/or sith powers (generic enough as to avoid star wars doom)
O Psionic Weaponry
will this be weapons like my illusion pets pull out? or will it be like the mind control set?
O Dual Blades
other than having TWO swords... what's the diff between this and katana, broadsword and whatever other swords are out there?
O Ball and Chain *
mace on a string?
O Shield Fighting *
one spiked buckler? some moves having two spiked bucklers? caltrops as a power. some moves involving a short bladed weapon along with a single spiked shield? is there going to be some sort of swinging trip and/or dive move in this one?
O Density Control
um, is this gravity? or just invul with a different name?
O Force Field
you've already got FF on a couple of ATs, this would actually take time to implement? if so, that's a definite w.t.f.
O Willpower
is this the same as gravity? or regen?
O Vibration
FF with a different name?
O Growth *
this sounds original. you grow tall. then what? you're a lot easier to hit (bigger target), do you also get a bunch of bonus life, armor and speed? thunderclap/stun from clapping your hands together close to the target? kick with tons of knock-back/-up? super jump as a power in the set itself?
O Shield Defense *
um, shield fighting minus the dagger attack?
almost seems like someone accidentally posted this on this board when it was intended for private/dev/staff boards and then closed the "poll" real quick after they realized they booboo'd.
it's been how long since COV released and STILL no epic ATs? good thing you guys have your priorities straight.
how about this -- go free2play and put real life adverts in all those billboards and such, instead of the ingame/fake adverts.
bleh, if you guys were on a 3 month/issue schedule again, and would pop out 3-8 new powersets/issue, it wouldn't matter... there would literally be too many FOTM for anyone to be able to whine too much about there not being enough "balance". there will never be balance until everyone plays/pvps as poorly as the poorest playing whiner.

I managed to miss the poll, mainly because of a vacation trip so no biggie.
One thing I would like to see addressed is secondary effects
Currently scrappers can using their primary
1) Boost their own to hit and damage
2) Boost their own defence
3) reduce the foes tohit
Now a gaping hole is a -res or maybe a foe -dam effect. (-regen rightfully stays with the more support oriented sets)
One of these new sets should have a -res as a secondary effect. Not much maybe in the 5-10% range, but stackable from different powers (like the sword sets can stack -def)

In regards to the poll being up for less than 24 hours:
We amassed a ton of votes in that short amount of time. In addition, a large percentage of those votes came from people who signed up for the forums just yesterday, so it's not just the "vocal minority" having their say. A lot of new-to-the-boards players got their voice in this.
In addition, there is a weirdness in the forum software that would force us to re-put up the polls (again) allowing you all a chance to vote twice, and that would have a far greater impact on the poll results than the data we received.

Posi, how are you going to account for the skewedness of the poll?
What I mean is that we have no idea what your intentions were behind some of the sets. Like, how is Vibration different than Fore Fields? How is either of those different than current armors?
Shields are going to be massively over-represented in this survey because they're an easy concept to grasp. Density, Vibration, and FF I feel would be underrepresented because we have no idea what they actually MEAN. The poll, as put forward by your team, will be significantly skewed because of factors like this. You've introduced several complicating variables into the equation.
I'm not saying that shields wouldn't win anyways, but really, I mean how do you expect us to choose between vibration and density armor if we don't know how they'd be different?

For Primary I like the sound of Psionic and for secondary I like Density control.
Though by the sound of the name alone Density control could also be a Primary.
And making people play to earn them not just hand them out was a nice idea as well.
Water/bubble attacks exist blaster energy primary, with alittle imagination. But broken bottle now theres an idea seconded.
Street fight read as dirty street fighter salt in eye blind em, knee to groin stun them, choke, bottle slash, bottle toss, brass knuckles, have to have a build up, and them bottles need something in them might as well be a heal, tanker needs taunt, and lastly an aoe like whirling hands would be nice.
Make your sets and make ball and chain temporary recipe please. Gun and bat need some help. Ball N Chain could take on its own meaning in game. Sure as a fancy attack but whatever else use your imagination.
Now that I have wings and boots I want more lol i9 so good I can't put it down. Pleased with whatever you give us but cool that you want our opinions.

make yourself super-dense (+Def) or decrease your density (can't attack or be attacked), possibly affect enemies.. make them so dense they can't move and so on.

Good. That's not how I saw it when I was voting. and while you might think that, is that how the Devs view it? Is that how everyone else who took the survey viewed it? Personal interpretation shouldn't be as large of a factor as it was.
A general description of the sets and how the Devs think they'd work should have accompanied each of the surveys.
