I don't see how your happy using this with FLY all i've seen it do is raise me to a higher level but no increase in speed(granted i am fully slotted) Another issue with the pack and SJ is how its great to give you distance ala height but the 300+pt dmge from the landing is horrid.

As for lowbies I've found it very useful for getting around especially in the hollows. Previously while running gorge you had to look for a ramp up now you can jump. see no way around mobs now you can leap over them. Sure a real flight pack woulda been better but this isn't that bad. It is definately better than NOT having it.

i briefly tried it and too thought it was a bit unweildy. Would've much prefered the jump pack from villains. But this seems to be tailored for superspeeders and SJers in Grandville and not new heroes.

I have a Level 12 Storm/Electric Defender with Hover and that Jet pack turns Hover into a 1-slotted Fly. Thats kinda useful. And now I can get over the damned walls in and out of Perez Park. Also the Pocket-D VIP pass came in handy when I got sent to the hospital in Steel Canyon and I didn't feel like running all the way to the Yellow Line, so I used it so I could exit from Kings Row where the Train Station is alot closer.

The beauty of it shines with my Level 44 MM with SJ in Grandville. Before I would have to jump around a few times to get altitude so I could reach the Base Portal in Grandville. Not anymore. With Jet Pack i can get there in one jump!

I have only tested it on my lvl 49 that has 3slotted swift, 3 slotted hurdle, 3 slotted sprint, and 2 slotted SJ.

If I was able to jump and higher/further with the jump jet, then I would land in a different MMO. So, needless to say i am having fun with it.

I'll have to add in with everyone else that likes the jump jet. I'd imagine a SSer could use it to quickly get to the terra volta reactor for one (I think you could do it just before the jet expires). Plus, endless sjs rocks. It's like having fly for 30 seconds.... only at the sj speed cap instead of the fly speed cap.

Also, getting around certain areas in the low level cov zones easily is worth the $10 in itself. Falling between the walls in I believe mercy is an exercise in frustration. Then I have to run around looking for a door and then run allll the way back. Now I just hit the jet (before I hit the ground even... hehe).

HA! Good one!

I found it rather useful when, on a low level alt in CoV, I got a timed mission leading to one of the rare "high-altitude, no way up to it" doors in Mercy.

My in-game spell check is 6 slotted for damage.

That's great! What I wouldn't give to jump over to WoW, switch to Nova form, then start blasting the heck out of everybody!

Or as a Scrapper ... turn on MOG, or Elude, and laugh in their faces when they can't touch you back.

Or heck, just plain FLY AROUND, laughing at all the ground-bound peons below you ...! ^_^

Actually, I was considering giving "Blizzard in WoW" a whole new meaning.

Bonus if I could grab an AV or two on aggro and kite em over the dimensional threshold. Lord Recluse would have a happy fun day shish-ke-bobbing the gnomes.

That would be interesting. Recluse gives a portal mission to invade World of Warcraft. Also a cross MMO PvP server would be extremely interesting.

LOL. I remember an old fan-based cartoon someone made. In it, a character from Ultima Online teleported to Everquest. The guy was a tank mage, and once he got into EQ, he couldn't move because his armor weighed too much. He just stood there thinking "[censored]?"

If the worlds came together CoX characters would kick the snot out of other MMO's.

I dunno...scaling being what it is, you'd probably see as many heroes and villians faceplanting as the other guys. Not that CoX characters don't have some unique advantages....especially in three-dimensional movement of our characters. In that, we pretty much own most games in the market.

However, I really wouldn't want to try PvPing a starship on EVE or SWG.

'S'truth, that. And COX has another big advantage - unlike most other MMOs, our Buffs and Debuffs are KING of thebattlefield! A crew of flying 'trollers, Defenders, and Blasters ---> lay waste to any non-SciFi MMO population. With nary a healer among 'em, too!

As for PvPing a spaceship? Gimme a 50, and I'll take it on. Sure, a L50 PC won't be equal to Statesman ... but, he took out SEVERAL starships on his own, yes? I think a team of eight PCs could take on a couple EVE-scale ships. Especially given the limitations those ships'd be under, what with operating in an atmosphere.

(Out in the void ... you'd have super-hero designed starships ... or no PvP at all.)

I'll grant you, against a Jedi, or just someone with some good, high-tech firearm-equivalents, things might be dif-

No, wait. Rikti have those. It might be a bit more fair, but ... not THAT much so. ^_^

How does this jump jet compare to the jump jet you get in CoV mayhem missions? Totally different?

Totally.

Both the Raptor Pack and Jump boots you get from your first 2 Mayhem Missions (and soon, your first 2 Safeguard Missions, as I can personally attest to) both mimic travel powers -- the Raptor Pack gives you flight, while the Jump Boots let you super jump.

The Jump Jet, on the other hand, is only good on it's own for a short-term vertical boost. You may be able to jump infinitely high with it on, but you don't gain any extra movement in another direction. It's good for getting on rooftops and over other obstacles. It does, however, provide a boost when used with a travel power. You super jump farther, fly faster, and gain vertical mobility while superspeeding.

GvE Jumpjet really comes into its own with Hurdle. Very nice.

lol - why PVP in WOW? Just go around yelling "Hey! Come fly with me! Oh, wait, you can't... still trying to get that epic mount..."

I swear, considering how long those flights between cities are, could you imagine any WOW player *not* wanting a travel power?

As for PVP - yeah, controller holds and domination holds would screw a lot of them up - we're made for handling large groups of enemies...

I think the folks from WoW might also get a bit unhappy trying to kill a /Regen scrapper, too. "WTH, he's healing as fast as we can hurt him!" ... "WTH, we finnally get him down a lot, and now we can't hurt him at ALL!" ... "WTH, after six hours of work we finally dropped him - and he got right back up?!?"

Heh. ^_^;;

...

Or a good, solid Tanker ... say, Inv/ ... can you imagine a WoW character trying to kill that?!?

Heh.
