HEH....I LOVE the jump jet!!

(Lvl 30 character) I SJ'd from Archmage Tarixus, in Shark Head to the ferry -I measured in game and that was a distance of .60 miles.....

The only probelm is that it doesn't warn you about needing a parachute.....hitting the ground and losing 75% of your health is a bit of a shock......

Can you imagine how powerful the pocket d temp power would be for pvp if it had a reasonable activation time. It would make all escape powers pale in comparison.

I think the main reason I will get GvE is for the jumpjet if it has the height potential of Superjump. Superspeeding in Faultline is too annoying without it.

Thanx for the screenies! With the unpadded sinister option on the gloves, is there a way to have the banded sleeves that go up to the shoulder without having the chest/top part?

I want to have long gloves not tied to a top........

...and just in case people don't realize it, the chest option is available in Tights, Baggy, and Armor.

Well...did my "due diligence" here on the forums...knew what I was getting beforehand. First thing I did was jump to the top of the Atlas globe and down to the City hall dome for the badges. Seems to work pretty good to me. Oh, and I wasn't necessarily going for the badges, I wanted to see the operation and the recharge time for myself. My first impression, from on the forums, was that it would be helpful in Perez Park and other Hazard Zones...especially for those who were SS inclined vs anything else.

I found the jet to be awesome. As a villain, it let me jump high enough to clear the invisible wall around Breakout, and actually fight in the arachnos/guard/longbow battle (and get my butt kicked).

That's interesting. The Christmas Event Jingle Jet wouldn't even let you *fly* over the wall there.

If you can select patterns for it, look and see if there's a pattern at the end of the list that matches the costume name and it should fix the problem.

[/ QUOTE ]

Quick note: There are actually two Sinister patterns. The pattern you can pick from the drop down list is available on every matching peice that allows patterns, this is a Spider along both sides of your body.

The other Sinister pattern only works with the Sinister costume pieces and it works just like the Armor Plate pattern for the Armor Plate top. If you do not have a patters set for either the chest or bottoms and you hit the reset button to the side of the pattern menu you sill get the other version. In addition to the Spider pattern, all the buckles along your sleeves and knees/legs will have the secondary color as well.

(ok, maybe not so quick a note)

friggin mastercard

The whole NCsoft store is goofy.

I can pay for my CoX account with MasterCard, but not by GvE.
Yet, i was checking out the hero gear, and, low and behold, I can't use my discover card to get it, but i can use my mastercard... but i can by, and did by, my GvE with my discover card...

It's totally nuts.

(I know in another post I said i wasn't going to by the GvE, but when i read what the Pocket D teleporter accually was for... i couldn't help it... The idea of a faster way to get to Founders Falls is worth 10 bucks... LOL)

You can pick up Hurdle at level 6 and the jump jet is very handy with Hurdle-- you can go pretty much anywhere and Hurdle is reasonably quick for a pre-14 travel power. It's also very handy with SS in areas like Skyway. To often when learning the zone I'd find myself almost where I wanted to be but separated vertically. It's a nice perk.

Jump Jet: 5/10 for usefullness, 7/10 for cool graphics - I'll use it when warranted.

VIP Badge: Badges! More badges! 10/10 for badger goodness, 5/10 for graphical presentation.

New Costume parts: After seeing eleventy-million heroes all dressed the same way in Atlas, I can't rank them high. I dig the Justice gloves with the armor, and the Sinister gloves without armor and with the Sinister top for that 3/4 glove look. Hating the Sinister boots, with or without armor, a little too bulky for my tastes. Not a fan of either shoulder option. I'll give both sets a firm 6/10, until I've had a chance to experiment more.

Tiki Lounge TP: 9/10 for really cool animation, 6/10 for the actual lounge. I want to be able to do the /drink emote there, and I'm holding a coconut with a little umbrella in it. Tiki room needs content, but I'll assume that will be coming.

Cost: 10/10 for $10.

Total Rank: 8/10

I am going to get the GvE goodies this weekend. Just having a vertical movement power on my lowbie alts and on my Superspeed alts is worth the 10 bucks for me.

The jump pack is worth $10 just so I don't have to go looking for a door to the Fort on #@$@ing Mercy Island any more. Or into the middle section of Cap au Diable.
And it makes Perez Park a lot easier to deal with on the Heroes side.
Not to mention jumping the long wall in Galaxy City or up and over the high overpass on the south end of Skyway or onto the road that runs along the east side of the map there...

All those are just little things that maybe 30 seconds or a minute to the amount of time I'm running around, but how many times have I done all of them?

Huge, huge Quality of Life improvement if you ask me.

Lots of good points raised in support of the GVE goodies.

General utility of Jump Jet- useful augmentation ot travel, albeit slow in duration and having a long recharge. Would be nice if it's duration was increased a bit. Adding vertical movement for SuperSpeeders is helpful. Definitely not a substitute for any travel power and too slow/short for travelling before lvl 6.

Tiki Lounge TP - useful... with a very long recharge. However, what use is a bar with no bartenders? I think something more VIP'ish would be nice in the bar.

Costume additions - look nice, but i'm more looking forward to Samurai Armor.

Worth an extra 10$? Personally, I think $4.95 is more like it, but it seems like most think it's worth it.

Does the pack increase normal flight speed? if so by how much?

And that is why it has a long, interruptable activation time.

How much exactly I am not sure. I got the feeling I was maybe a bit faster than Superspeed and it certainly makes Hover a travel power while it lasts and this works for lowbies too.

The toon did not have Swift and no Flight Speed Enhancements, but made it across Siren's Call (lengthwise) before the buff ended using Fly.

Costume bonuses inventory:

- Justice/Sinister tights top and bottoms texture with any pattern (dots/tribal/tiger/etc), including a matching Justice pattern (at the bottom of the list, or hit Reset).

- Justice/Sinister boots and gloves in two formats, with and without plate/pad. No pattern option on gloves or boots.

- Justice/Sinister top and bottom armor, with any pattern, etc, as Tights top and bottom.

- Justice/Sinister shoulder item for tights and armor categories, maybe in others (I didn't check).

- Sinister ONLY - Baggy top and Tucked In bottom texture with any pattern, including a matching Sinister pattern.

- Sinister ONLY - Pattern available on Tights top, Tights bottom, Armor top, Armor bottom, Sinister top, Sinister bottom. So you could have shiny tights with a Sinister pattern; or Medieval armor with a sinister pattern, etc.

Missing: no Justice or Sinister belt, helm, or chest symbol. No Justice or Sinister cape design.

One of the belt items shown in the screenshots for Kilts was a belt that looked like it belonged in the Sinister set - a bunch of overlapping belts: This picture which also definitely features the Sinister boots. I wonder if the belt will be in issue 8?

Hmm, guess that might have different connotation in this game ...

I would not recommend upgrading to the GVE goodies if you are inclined to think the Jump Jet Prestige power will be useful for a lowbie.. or in general.

The power is designed to augment travel powers and give them a little more speed while adding vertical ability. I wish I'd known just how "little more" it would add beforehand.

It's useless for lowbies (less than 14) unless you consider travelling at the speed of 3 slotted Hover for 30 seconds as useful.

I'm less than impressed using at higher levels too. I had anticipated more umph and less "is this thing on?" when using it. Lesson learned.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree.

I found it very useful this morning when running across KR. It is nice for getting on top of the buildings to finish the "Hunt 10 CoT in KR" mission. I also was able, for the first time, to get to the top of the Atlas Globe to get the "Top Dog" badge without waiting until I could get Fly or a friend to TP me up there.

The Justice Armor is already decking out one of my chars as well.

Haven't tried out the Pocket D teleporter yet...

I'm quite happy with mine.

I LOVE the jump jet. No, it doesn't go far horizontally, but it makes getting on top of buildings or over walls before travel powers no problem at all.

I just wish I could have gotten it before the CoT hunting mission in Kings Row on my newest character, instead of running around a building looking for a fire escape to take out a nice CoT spawn at daybreak, only to discover this building didn't have a fire escape. And, then having to wait until night again before I could finish the mission.

That's just one non-hazard zone example of the jump jet's usefulness.

ETA: What Val said.

The Sinister pattern looks good without the armor, but the justice pattern is not ava. for just tights. Bad, bad
