man i love the jump jet...can't wait to use it in PvP. last night on my lvl 40 spines/regen stalker (who has swift/hurdle/SS/SJ) i jumped .77 miles. i have a feeling it would have gone further, but i hit the top of the zone! i was simply amazed. just to compare, my regular jump was .15 miles, so i was defintely pleased .

If it buffs the mobs, it's challenge.
They are not the same.
My level 50 scrapper leaped OVER the tallest buildings in Talos on the way to the FF entrance with the aid of the pack, and he only has the default slot in Hurdle and SJ.
MAN, that was fun! Now I want to see what he can do in Steel Canyon. Or for that matter, how high my SJing Brute can get in Grandville.

Still being that the pack has a longer recharge it would be nice if it lasted 60 - 90 seconds, not that it doesnt have its uses.
I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.
But... here's the real question: does it let you traverse the Shard without fly? I'm thinking yes if you have SJ, but not if you have SS. Anyone tested this yet?
Also, when flying straight (not climbing) is there really any boost to Flight? The jet doesn't fire unless you're climbing, and forward speed doesn't seem increased to me, though I have no hard numbers on this. (IOW, I know it's boosting Hover, but what about Fly?)

/SIGNED!! *Bwaaah!* No high-heel Justice boots.
BUT, excellent excellent job.
Note to the Devs: do this again. Really. Come up with more bling (Justice/Sinister/Accolade Badge), address some nifty-but-not-needed quality-of-life improvements (Jump-Jet/Pocket-D Teleport), make a nifty room or two for us to "ooh" and "ah" over (Tiki Lounge), and attach the same price-tag ($10). Am I willing to pay money for things like this again? Of the same quality, yes. I am perfectly willing to pay money for your work like this that is above and beyond the normal maintenance and development of the game. Thus you are given extra cash for larger projects in the game and to use for your selves in compensation for your own time investment . (Why YES, I do acknowledge how this works .)
C'mon, you know you want to do it. <waves a 10 dollar bill teasingly> I've got another ten-spot for you ^_^.

Yes! There is. If you're at altitude with flight you won't notice it that much, if you are close to the ground you can see it better. I was running Papers-to-Mayhem last night with it, using it to shorten time going from mish-to-mish. Normally I ghost paper-mishes and haul-'n-bypass mobs to get to the objective and just do whatever that is. In more open maps like warehouses I use Fly to do this 'cause it's faster. I've got a lot of practice and consider myself quite accomplished at navigating through warehouse boxes and past ceiling supports. Several times however, I arrived at the mish door with time still on the Jump-Jet and had the additional speed. I spent a lot of time slamming into objects and caught in corners because my reactions weren't fast enough to avoid obstacles anymore . Yes, it boosts Fly.

What it does not do is boost the flight cap. Which is fairly easy to hit already with 3 SOs. So, if you are already 3-slotted with SOs in flight, and thus already around the cap, you will not see a boost, because you cannot go any faster than you are already going.

I would not recommend upgrading to the GVE goodies if you are inclined to think the Jump Jet Prestige power will be useful for a lowbie.. or in general.
The power is designed to augment travel powers and give them a little more speed while adding vertical ability. I wish I'd known just how "little more" it would add beforehand.
It's useless for lowbies (less than 14) unless you consider travelling at the speed of 3 slotted Hover for 30 seconds as useful.
I'm less than impressed using at higher levels too. I had anticipated more umph and less "is this thing on?" when using it. Lesson learned.

Dude this is the one thing that makes places like terra volta and grandville somewhat bareable now. Till then I was expecting to need to respec into fly. This will help super speeders get over the walls in perez park. I am not really concerned about it being a travel power, it is most to prevent me from every having to take 2 travel powers.

Heh, running into things I know well.
I have two-slotted fly speed, Swift, and usually one or two siphon speeds on, so I have established ballistic, building-pinball as a solid precedent.
Glad to know I'm gilding the lily a little with the Jumpjet though. Everything helps.

So, the Jump Jet power helps those with Super Speed or Super Leap the most?
I pulled the trigger. That's right, I did it, in Warburg, with the pistol. - Mista Chains
Everyone know the Tank Archetype get the most drops of all the types. This is because of their "Death Dealing" powers. I call it the front line bonus...but you'll never read this in the wiki - "Rx10"

Hard to judge. It actually also helps teleporters in a round-about way. Does not boost their TP speed or distance, but nice as an emergency click to help prevent falling between TPs if you take too long on the next TP. Or to let yourself down gently from a high TP. (TP, toggle jet, and tap spacebar/jump a few times on the way down to break your drop speed, and thus reduce your impact damage greatly.)

Sadly that's right where I am with several of my Alts. It's unfortunate that when creating this power they allowed for situations in which its effect is virtually useless or unnoticeable to any degree.
One would think that since this power already has a limited duration with a relatively long recharge that it could have been set up to provide say a 25% boost to flight speed regardless of the cap. Would it be so terribly unbalancing to the game to be able to temporarily get a flight speed going that could be 25% greater than the current flight speed cap? Even -that- speed would probably be about 1/2 of what you get from Superspeed and you could only do it for 30 seconds every few minutes.
For flyers this power 'ought' to act like an "afterburner" on a jet engine regardless of the flight speed cap but I'm doubting it'll be changed for that consideration. As it is it's great for SSers, SJers and poorly slotted flyers. Overall the Jump Pack is a neat idea for a prestige power, it's just not one I'm going to get any real benefit from.

The jumpjet should be called the gimpjet when used by someone with teleport. It "increases your hover time" yeah, sure, assuming you want to accelerate upwards. Yes, I heard the explanation that they couldn't code it to increase TP range, that's fine. But in that case, how about a different prestige power that is equally useful to all? When they saw it was essentially useless to teleporters, I'm curious as to why they didn't pick something else. It must have been obvious pretty early in the design of this that it wouldn't do much for TP'ers, yet they went with it anyway.

When you use this power to shorten long multi-zone trips the travel time you save more than makes up for the activation time of this power.
Think of this as an example: When I fly from Atlanta to Tokyo I sometimes have 3 or 4 hour layovers on either end for connecting flights - that's still alot faster than it would be if I drove to California and took a boat to Japan.

Hyper Phase + Pocket D teleporter FTW!
I think it will make the lvl 6 - 14 lowbie life a little more bearable by boosting hover and CJ. Might also help your lowbie get out of a jam if you fall in the gulch in the hollows or need to fly up to a war wall ledge to get out of trouble in a pinch.

I don't think Castle is saying "it would be too powerful in PvP if it had a quick activation time" I think he is saying "it would be too powerful of an escape power if it had a quick activation time" PvP or PvE.
If it was just a PvP issue, they could have simply inhibited it in the PvP zones.
As a means to zone to Pocket D, or even to use Pocket D as a short cut to other zones, the activation time is trivial. The activation time is only really non-trivial if you are attempting to use it in combat, and its explicitly not meant to be used as a reliable means to escape combat.

The recharge time is a bit of a PITA, but it's serviceable. I use it for those few times when I can't get around with Hurdle+Slotted-CJ. Or if I hopped into a pack of Crey in FF or the like and need to GOoD. Sort of a "better to have and not need than need and not have" kind of thing.
